Umm...ya I'm gona quest for these between levels 45-60? HA ! The stats on these look all too similar to newby gear. Scratch that..I think sony has some updating to do here
I'm a level 46 ogre shaman and these gauntlets are just not worth the effort to get. I've been lucky to get a pair of Shissar Scaled Gauntlets (AC: 12 WIS: +5 INT: +5 HP: +40 MANA: +40)from a Guild mate, but even before that I was using Leaf Scale Gloves (AC: +14 Dex: +3 Wis: +5 Agi: +4 HP: +30) for ages, brought in the bazaar for a few hundred plat. Being an ogre the Str and Cha is worthless to me and I need all the Wisdom I can get.
I personally just go and spend plat on uber gear, what is the point of MQ those PoS when you can just as easily buy leaf scale for like friggin 200 plat heh.
I was SO excited when the corroded gaunts dropped during a Frost Giant raid....but then I got to looking at the stats on these. I'm currently wearing Northman Imbued Gaunts, Wis 2, AC 9, STR 1, SV Cold 2. I made them myself, and they're not much worse than these. Getting the rocks is gonna be a pain.
thurg quest gaunts arent the best, but the AC is nice. I'm a ranger, and prefer the thorny vine guants adds, and they just 2 less AC. PErsonally these look like great guants for shammies though, so im gonna multi quest the gloves for my shammy friend, WIS isnt ALL that!.
I have a pair of those sentry gaunlets that I bought in the bazaar and I think there pretty nice. My wisdom is 175 currently at 43. I usually spend my money on c3 getting me up to 200 the point of less return on wis. 25 mana is from what I understand is what 4 more points of wisdom would give me with my current wis buffed to 200. I have +125 in mana items. I love my black alloy medallion and my chipped bone bracelet too. I do want to do some of the rune crafter's pieces though, especially the legs for ac. My legs now with 8 ac and +3 wisdom aren't that good. When I hit 49 I'm gonna toss my kobold skin boots with 5 ac too because they won't help with extended affliction anymore. I have almost 800 ac right now and I am getting so tired of having to kite stuff or play the running healer caster. These gloves just aren't that great. The other pieces are better. Just my 2 cp

P.S. The tone of some of these posting is a bit nasty remember it's only a game ;-)
Dont know if most of you know or not, but shamans at high lvls are AC based more than WIS based, so for the WIS you should be to 200 by now anyways with this stuff, and then I know that the AC is much better than the Druid stuff, so I guess all you who want WIS over AC, got one suggestion for you..... GO MAKE A DRUID!!!!
Hello?? The following is the Druid Thurgadin Armor Gloves: ---------------------------------------------- Rowyl's Gauntlets of Nature NO DROP MAGIC ITEM AC: +8 Sta: +2 Wis: +2 Magic Resist: +2 Poison Resist: +1 ----------------------------------------------
How was it that the druid's armor is better than the shaman's again? That's 5 more pts of AC as well as some mana.
At 50 I don't need much more wis. Jewelry covers much of my wis needs. Getting a few of the quest items would give me the wis I need, plus some mana, which would open me up for AC gear (jb armor for example) and more mana/resist gear. I think these gloves are great, I am still wearing totemic because the ac is better than a lot of other gloves, and I haven't spent enough time at the jb gloves camp in kc to see them drop.
Well some have stated their class but others have not. To those that are not shaman, please don't post about what you obviously don't know anything about. Unless there are other guantlets out there these are a step up from the Totemic guantlets. The AC is better and there is a WIS bonus that the Totemic ones don't even have.
So from the perspective of a shaman these are an improvement and considering how stingy Verant has been with WIS bonuses, in armor, a definite item to acquire.

I look at these and attempt to understand the target purpose of these. There are 2 types of shaman i have seen: the melee style and the debuff/dot style. It's as if they went for both and fell way short of anything useful... One quest definitely not worth the effort.
Hmm, I am not a shaman. But I have to say these don't look good at all. Hopefully Verant will ravamp these to something like + 5 wisdom + 30 mana. I think that would be better.
You can tell these people knocking them are not shaman. The key feature that all shaman look for in their equipment is ac first and wisdom/mana second, with canabalize III your wisdom does not have to be 200 to be effective, in fact I know very very few shaman that have 200 wisdom short of having full jaundice bone, simply because with high ac and high stamina shamans can tank, and cast spells with a near infinite mana pool, and that is why these are pretty darn good, great ac with the added benefit of wis/mana. Besides once most shaman get to high lvls they get their epic, since it is the second easiest to get, and after that they can solo effectively with only wasting mana on root.
This armor is actually better than everyone is making it out to be. At the higher levels there are going to be many mobs that you are going to have to get in close and fight. Simply because a shaman does not have very high HP and spells does not mean that you are not going to have to tank. Try going in and tanking with 200 WIS but extremely low AC. You're dead. I do agree that the WIS may be a little low, but I know many 40-60 shaman that use these items until they are able to get their Jaundiced Bone, Rune Etched or their Spirit Weavers armor. I also used to concern myself ONLY with the WIS of an item, not caring at all about the AC. I am learning now that this was a huge mistake. That higher AC may mean the difference between life and death.
If they bumped up the mana a bit I'd be much happier, but otherwise these babies aren't so bad. I'm not gonna go out of my way to collect the quest items, but would complete the quest for AC 13 if it dropped close to my lap.
