I believe the assorted coin purses were removed from treasure tables when Skyshrine was revamped in November 2002. Yelinak still drops the Very Large, but the other four (Tiny, Small, Medium, and Large) no longer drop. WTB one of these on Bristlebane server. Shoot me a tell or hit me in-game mail.

edit: Picked one up today in Bazaar for 400pp. Excellent find for a bag collector :)

Just seen today for sale on a Trader.... its in the form of a coin like the handmade backpacks. Guess its either old school or no longer no-drop.
OMG only 500pp on Fennin Ro

He didn't say it was on a trader just that someone sold it. You cant put them in satchels but you can sell whatever you want (assuming no no drop, etc)
No Drop

FYI these are now No Drop items

My mistake, I forgot I had a squad ring (had it so long I forgot about it) in the purse and that made it appear to be no drop.

Does the Tinker Bag reduce the weight of your coins?
This is an excellent item for monks, who are conscious of every single unit of weight that they carry.

No, unfortunatly only "coin" named weight reducing bags do. And I believe are only 2 in game, both with 20% WR on coins. The other drops in FoB (which I have tried to find, but was never succussful)
RE: ???
# Jul 31 2003 at 4:21 PM Rating: Decent
Not true about the only "coin" WR bags reduce coin weight. There is also a 'gem pouch' that has a % coin reduction, dont remember what is is though.

gem pouch drops in nadox I do think... forgot off of what though
RE: ???
# May 19 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
There are now more then simply 2 in game. Also the one dropped in FoB dropped off the dakoit bandit is only 10% weight reduction.

THe other bag I saw on here last night was for 40% weight reduction. had more slots and DID in fact reduce coin weight by 40%.

Just FYI

The best coin weight reduction is 90% bag, Frizznik's Endless Coin Purse. You get it in pok but it's a pretty tough quest, if you want to look it up. The next best is 70% for the Very Large Coin Purse. There are several below that.

Consensus on the one in FoB is that it no longer drops. No one has seen the mob in a LONG time.

In a group killing mobs in the pool room. Group was there for armor. We got enough gutz to pull suez (one of the drakes in the upper left corner) Well after I got charmed and killed our wizard we killed the drake. Suez droped the tiny coin purse and a wiz spell invis undead. Yes we gave the spell to the wiz. I am a monk and cant wear any of the armor there except for the robe the group was nice enough to give me the purse. It does help us monks alot you may not think 1 stone is alot but when you loose 5-10 ac per extra stone weight its a diffrent storry/
Even better purse
# Apr 19 2001 at 6:23 PM Rating: Default
I was in here solo'ing yelinak with my lvl 4 high elf warrior twink, it was pretty tough since he don't have duel wield or double attack yet, but I kite him around a bit and stack dot's on him, and send in my pet with fear and snare, of course i get Spirit of Cheetah hotkeyed for quick escape if I need to, and anyway, he drops this coin purse with 120% reduction so I equip it, and when I add more coins or items i get lighter. So I keep killing and looting until my inventory full of weapons and armor and my weight was negative 612, and i started to levitate. I had to destroy my guardian armor just to get my feet back on the ground. Oh and if you press combine on the purse, you get twice the coin you had previously, but I haven't figured out any good use for it yet.

In the days that I have spend in SS trying to get some Guardian Armor to replace that stupid chain look on my dorf paly, I have seen this dropped randomly off a sentinal in pantry, a drake in courtyard, and I got one off a guardian gargoyle in courtyard (courtyard is the area with statue that ports to cobalt scar). It is 20% weight reduction for items AND coins so this makes it very nice for you monk'eys. Sells from 6-7k on Povar so prolly 4-5k on you servers that haven't suffered inflation.
20% weight reduction

With the new patch, the bag says 20% weight reduction. Also tested the reduction of coins. It's also 20%. Had 5000pp on me and was encumbered. Placed this bag in inventory and weight went down by 25. It was like carrying only 4000pp. So 25 weight from 5000pp is 20% reduction.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 27 2001 at 9:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) who drops this bag or is it anyone?
Don't think so
# Jan 07 2001 at 5:42 PM Rating: Default
Not sure how you guys found coin reduction with this. When I looted it I had 200+pp 100+gp 300+sp 400+cp and my wieght dropped 1 once it was in inventory. I got this same kind of reduction when a Bootstrutter's Framed Pack went into my inventory (this happened when I had no coins on me so it was reducing it's own weight). I dumped my coins onto someone else, picked up the bag and again my weight changed by 1 (looks like another bug in what is getting reduced). I did verify reduction of items in the bag (kinda hard to find very small items that weigh a lot, but used the gargoyle scale things = wt. 1.0).
RE: Don't think so
# Jan 18 2001 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
Picked up one of these last night. I haven't been to the bank in a while so I had something around 250pp 500gp on me. Upon placing this item in my inventory, my encumberance decreased by 5. I didn't take time to determine the weight reduction percentage. I'll post once I do.

# Jan 05 2001 at 9:44 AM Rating: Good
... Had a Tiny coin purse and a medium coin purse, with either both or just the medium, the weight was still the same. Soo, the weight reduction doesn't stack with each other, in case anyone was wondering..

Got one of a wyrven(sp?) in Skyshrine. Killed about 25(with guild), somewhere in there a Medium Coin Purse dropped. It seems that there is a Tiny, Medium and Large...

Earlier today, I was thinking that when i go to buy things like GEBs, and i have to carry 8K on me, that I can't walk. And on my server, being KOS in NFP is also a BIG downside. So, after taking myself about an hour to get to neriak to the safe part in NFP, I just thought today of how awesome it would be to have a container that makes the weight of the coins reduced. I was about to go post it on an EQ forum, but now that I know there is one that exist, I will instead try to get one REALLY hard! Its amazing, Verant read my mind before I even thought of the idea.

Euh.... about time to up the dosage on the medication there, skippy? ;-)

Just kidding, eheh. To quote, "God made us sisters...... Prozac made us friends...."

This thing is good, but there already WAS one in the old game. I forget the name at the moment, but I do remember seeing it when I was about level 20. Way back in the day, when I was slaughtering Sarnaks in LoIO....

20%, though? That's good, but when you consider the fact that 8K, it would only reduce your weight by.... lemme think, now..... 100 coins is 5 weight.... and that means, 20 coins to the stone. You'd lose one stone of weight for every 10 stones originally, so, that would leave you at, for 10k, since it's a round number, 400 stones originally, and after, you would have 320 stones of weight.

Not bad. Not all so good, either, but still. It's something. Sorry for boring you with mathematical intrigue.

Munchkin: "I calculated the haste percentages on the FBSS, the Mith 2 Hander, and Hangman's noose!"
Loonie: "I calculated it on this spiffy cloth wristband..... I think....!"
Real Roleplayer: "I know not what you two sirs mean. Although I did determine how much faster these items would make one move, that is all...."
Real Men: "Be quiet. I just looked int he EQ Files!"
40 coins per wt, not 20 (NT)

20% still weak...but I'll take it for now!
# Jan 03 2001 at 8:18 AM Rating: Decent
Reducing coin weight is a good thing, and certainly 20% is better then nothing, but with only 20%, I will still be tossing my silver and copper. With something like this now, I MIGHT keep my gold. I hope they come up with higher ones then 20% in the furure, though. Atleast it is a step in the right direction.
RE: 20% still weak...but I'll take it for now!
# Apr 04 2001 at 3:50 PM Rating: Default
20% is enough.. people shouldn't be able to carry around 4 metric tons of copper without burdening themselves.. I understand the necessity of some weight reduction, but they certainly shouldn't go higher than 20% without making it the reward for a particuarly difficult quest.

Which Drake?

It exists, got one from a drake there. I'm not sure if mine is called 'tiny' or 'small' or what, but mine has two slots and reduces weight of your coinage by 20%, and reduces the weight of the two items inside by the same amount.

RE: Bull

You can buy them from alot of the newbie merchants. To bad they are 4 slot containers that do jack for weight reduction and cost 4 odd silver. 0.0 wt reduction on them. Pretty much only good for a newbie to carry around bat wings rat loot so on and so forth. Most newbie zones have mobs that drop Backpacks, Large/Small bags though so most people never use these.

This is a dream come true for those of us penny-pinchers who hate to toss out any coins... yes, even coppers. hehe 2 slots looks like it will handle both the coppers and those pesky silvers, too. If anyone could post the weight reduction percentage, it would be appreciated.
