Who should get these

After reading the war of words concerning who should get these gaunts, here is my perspective:

First of all, Resists are beneficial to all classes. In fact, resists can come from just about any worn item, and can be found with regular frequency. So Resists is not a determining factor as to which class should have preference.

Now that resists have been removed from my equation, the next stat to consider is HASTE. Haste items are few and far between. Most of the few existing haste items are cursed with few, or none, aditional stats. Because of the rarity of Haste items, these gaunts should be rewarded to a melee class first and foremost.

The next point to consider is the combined component of AC, HP, and STR. Again, melee classes benefit from this the most. Specifically, melee classes that deal damage and tank. Because Bards seldom deal melee damage, or tank much, they should not be considered for these gaunts.

Beastmasters and Rangers can use the mana and +Wis component, but those classes are inadequate tanks (and the last thing a ranger needs is more taunt). Most high level rangers are much more effective standing way back launching arrows (out of AoE range), than whacking away at close range, building aggro and getting slaughtered once a mob is pissed enough. Unfortunately, these gaunts would no benefit a ranger as much as it would other melee.

The 0.0 weight is a boon for Monks, but they already have an entire set of haste items available to them. This would be a monk item first and foremost if it wasnt for the fact that monk Haste is relatively easy to come by compared to other classes.

These gaunts are great for rogues too. But rogues also get an array of haste items, and like Rangers, more aggo means more taunt, and a tanking rogue is a dead rogue. Also, +Wis, +Int, and +mana are wasted on a rogue.

Finally, at the top of the needs list are warriors, paladins, and shadow knights. Of these three, only the Pally and Sk benefit from all the stats. Also, Pallies and SK's have few alternatives avaiable to them in the form of other gear.

Therefore, all things considered, these should be rewarded in the following order:

Pally/SK or Warrior
Monk
Ranger or Rogue
Cleric
Beastmaster
Bard
Shaman or Enchanter
Necro or Druid
Wizzy or Mage

"Bards seldom deal melee damage"

Been melee'ing since level 1 (60 atm). Will melee to the day I stop EQ. Just wanted to clarify that.

as for the gloves, DKP, Merit, whatever. It's not like there is a discussion about who gets to loot what when something drops.
