FYI to get faction up easy have someone make a mule in Qenynos and kill the fish in the pond. You loot then and turn them into guy standing on the back side, one that will kill the mule. 5 fish and you are amiable. Also easy way to turn in items is take a wizzy with you....invised....turn in items and port out.

I have two sealed notes in inventory. One is from the bank clerk in High keep I give to Brother Hayle. The other I can't remember where I got it from. One looks like a rolled up scroll the other looks like a flat piece of paper. The both say the same thing. Which one is the right one? Thank you for any assistance.

Listen, every pally should get this before they start doing Naggy and Vox, its a Nice weapon. Looks cool. and Is needed fo the FA FD. so yes you should get this and its not a waste of time!

Hello, i'm 12th lvl paladin of mithaneil marr and i have a BoX( Blade of Xalgoz ) the stats are 23/40 +3 STR 3+ STA it is better then the Soulfire (to me n e way) which would be better the soulfire or my blade?Because i dont want to watse time thanks for your time and suggestions
Ok just to sum this up for you, I have both weapons, now the Blade of Xalgoz has a slight better delay, but not much. The Soulfire has a better attack rating. So its really up to the individual. Better damage with Soulfire with a bit slower delay, or BoX which is only slightly faster. To be honest I dont really see much difference between the both. To me the added str and wis is nice, plus when I go on Vox and Naggy raids it nice to have those 5 charges of complete heals just in case something goes wrong, but unfortunatly if something really went bad, like say everyone in the several groups dying except yourself heheh I dont think it would matter if you had 100 complete heals..lol. Anyway that is my thought on a desision on the two swords.

i now have the soulfire patience is a virtue either i was convincing or it is true that this quest is supposed to give u the soulfire if u received the quest list from Brother Hayle....after a week of waiiiiting i was given the sword by GM Jaydrox

OK, here is my dilemma...with help frommany others i was able to obtain allthe required items for this wpn, and was unable to obtain. Many sites have posted pertinent info...but here is the main thing i failed to double check in my excitement and haste. FACTION. Do not believe just cuz u can receive the quest from brother Hayle <re: note to brother Hayle to get the list for items to get soulfire> that u can turn these items in and get yer soulfire...KINDLY faction i had and soulfire i DO not have. I petitioned in game and i belieeve it is being reviewed by the lead GM as to whether i still should have gotten the Soulfire. I am still awaiiting any news, but do not make my mistake, take the time to get your faction to ALLY....since then u have nothing to worry about.

Clarification: This is not the Paladin Epic Weapon.
Stats on this thing are really low grade. Wurmslayer Quest is more epic and the payoff is better IMHO.

Well, true, since the expansions came out, the stats on Soulfire aren't terribly spiffy. For instance, I currently have a Nathsar Greatsword which some might consider better than Soulfire (17/30, +10 STR).
The fact of the matter is, that all of this is really beside the point. Before the FA quest was fixed, this really was the paladin's raison d'etre, the end of a long and arduous journey, beginning back at level 5, when you took that note to Altunic Jardin in EC (remember?). Little did you know how far that would take you.
Last night, my guild and I slew Sir Lucan DLere--usually the final difficult step in this quest--and, as I looted the testimony from the crumpled bones of his undead form, it all rushed back at me, the amount of time, effort, and trouble necessary, a long journey coming to a close...
Now, of course, the Soulfire itself leads to other things (it works into the Fiery Avenger quest, which, in turn, dovetails into the Fiery Defender, our true epic weapon), but don't minimize it just because the stats aren't as uber as some Velious drops. That big burning sword looks distinctive for a reason--and I urge you young defenders of the faith to go after it.

the only good thing about soulfire is it's graphic. I personally think my axe 24/40 +3 agi/dex/str +10hp is much better than this. Nowadays paladins only do the soulfire quest to get their epic.

Yes the Wurmslayer, Argent Defender, Drakkel Icereaver, Blade of Xalgoz, Jarsath Greatsword, and yes your very own Arbitor's Combine Greatsword may very well be better than the Soulfire. Never forget though we are Paladins and as such should be very proud to complete this quest as well as obtain your Ghoulbane. After all one cannot obtain The Great Fiery Avenger. Which personally I think is arguably the best sword in the game, not including its predicessor The Fiery Defender.
As a side note I've talked with alot of Paladins on my server and they arent even going for their Ro armor. I ask them why and all they can say is they want to get Deepwater armor. Well I agree the Deepwater Armor is much much better. I cannont agree without completing this quest for the Ro. To me its a matter of Pride and Honor. It is great armor and the xp from this quest is incredible as well as getting all decked out in a shiny Full Plate, one looks like a true Paladin wearing it. As for getting the Deepwater armor good luck. Most of the pieces are very rare, it would take several parties to obtain it, and most likely wouldnt win the roll of the dice.

He's being sarcastic. He's a twink. As it's no drop, i'd wager to say he's did one of three things...
1.) He lied horribly here. Shame on him.
2.) He had some high level friends of his primary aid his level 10 in staying alive while they rolled the creatures neccisary to get it, when it came reward time, he picked up all the stuff. It could be done with only a few level 45-50 friends willing to bust their buts... and you'd owe 'em big later for the time.
3.) He managed to somehow live in zones far above his level and loot corpses left behind by others who didn't take anything... not likely but it could, in theory, happen. Specially on the older servers.

Does this weapon need to be equipped when a heal charge is used? Can a charge from the SF be used in an inventory slot like a potion? If so, then can any class obtain the SF, and then use it only for it's 5 charges?

Since this post is incredibly old, I imagine you already have your answer, but I will go ahead and answer it, as others may want to know.
You can use the charges from an inventory slot.
It used to be that any class could use soulfire for the complete heals, in fact it was a great way to pull aggro back to a main tank during high level raids. However, the 1/23/02 patch changed soulfire so it could only be used by pallies. It is still usable from inventory, but only by pallies. Guess it might still be handy on raids, for aggro management, as it is better to have aggro on a pally assist tank, than on the wizzy or cleric.
The reason I mention it as being good for aggro management, is that complete heal is an aggro magnet. Yes, I know it is also great just as a heal.

First, you better quest for this, seeing as it's no drop. Second, Lucan is a corrupt paladin, hes a pos. And third, you have to get this before you can get your other fiery swords, ie the fiery avenger and defender.

What's worse is that in killing Lucan, you are essentially exiled from EFP/WFP. You will need to
regain faction if you do not do the Freeport portion of your Epic prior to killing him. (This involves obtaining pure water from a nice young man in EFP near the theatre)
I wonder how many gnoll and orc scalps you need
to turn in to the guards in HH to raise your faction back to amiable LOL. I am told Goblin

I was grouped with higher level toons than me-self in order to kill him. (60+). After he was dead I ran into town to speak to Valeron. No problem. Ran back out to go to LFay to kill the ogre, Xicotl. Again, no agro from the gaurds. Next day went back just to check, again, no agro. <shrug> I have my Soulfire (altho my Di'Zok Imperial Katana is MUCH better).
Go figure.

Me confused. Should me get this weapon? Me no like to kill people in this game. Do you have to do the quest or can you just buy it? Me gots me ghoulbane(Me trusty weapon) and i wonder if the soulfire is better. If it is should i buy it or quest for it because though Freeport is the most dullest city in the game I like to hang out there. If I should quest for it. The part about killing Lukyar, cant you just ask some people that are already KOS there to help you kill Lukyar then just loot it? Could that work? Anyways plz see if you can answer any of my questions. This my first character in the game and i dont want to ruin him.

Okay. Sir Lucan is corrupt, even though he is a Warrior Guildleader. Killing him makes you instantly KOS with Warriors, Rogues, Shadowknights, Necros, and guards whose names start with Guard. BUT it makes you warmly to everyone in the zone with the bank (except for the guards outside of the bank), and the paladin guild, including all guards whose names begin with Sir. The warriors and paladins are on conlficting factions. the lore states that Sir Lucan was a paladin, but was corrupted. He now teaches warriors, and wants the SoulFire for himself. The Paladins want you to get it before him. THis weapon is NODROP, meaning you have to do the quest yourself. Also, it is needed for the Fiery Avenger, which in turn is needed for the Fiery Defender (Paladin Epic Sword). Also, to avoid the corrupt guards, just take the secret entrance to the left of the gate in East Freeport, which leads you through the catacombs and the exit is at the Paladin Guild. The SoulFire itself isnt so great, but you need it for the Fiery Avenger (33/44, +15 STR, +10 CHA, +15 WIS, +25 HP, +25 MANA, +5 SV VS FIRE, POISON, DISEASE, COLD, MAGIC, effect Flame Shock: 110 DD) which is used for the Fiery Defender (35/40, +15 AC, +20 STR, +10 STA, +15 WIS, +70 HP, +30 MANA, +10 SV VS FIRE, POISON, DISEASE, COLD, MAGIC, effect: Holy Shock: 150 DD and a 6 second stun) Both swords have a Fire Graphic and are 2handed Slashing, Fiery Avenger and SoulFire look the same but Fiery Defender has a unique look. So, every Paladin should have this, and if you are truly a Paladin, you will realize that Sir Lucan is an enemy to all that is right.

If you would like to get some good info on this quest. Goto www.everlore.com.. Goto quest's by zone.. Goto N.FP.. There is a file called Soul Fire Made even easier.. Will tell you step, by step how and what to do fer this quest.. This does not have any background info, but if you are just lookin to do quest, it's a very good reference.. I completed this quest in 3 days. Day 1 got the hilt, day 2 got 8 people together to keel Sir Lucan,day 3 went and turned in the goodies to get the sword.. So, hope this helps, ya if your lookin fer it.. Unless your going after your epic, this really isn't worth the KOS faction you get in E&W Fp for killin guard lucan. The Mith 2hd is just as nice lower, but a much lower delay, or a Wurmslayer hit's harder/faster and you have use of a sheild. Only reason I got this was cuz I'm all about "How it Looks". If anyone know's how to regain faction plz send me an email and let me know.. I have seen people runnin round with flamin swords in FP before.. So, either they didn't take the faction hit or there is a way to regain faction..

Thought I'd respond, although I haven't done the quest and am not think of doing it (it looks cool, but I want a 1hs weap so I can bash - don't know WHY they gave us a 2hs for our epic ;P). Anyway, if you don't want faction hit in the 1st place, stay ungrouped and zone before Lucan falls. If you want to regain faction, I think you'll be slaying Deathfist Pawns for a while (I think). Or, you could heal newbs in the area who are fighting pawns. A lot of trouble if you ask me. Maybe just run the tunnels? G'luck!

You can bash with the epic even with it being 2 handed, same applies to SKs and their 2 handed epic.

hehe, did you ever see anything in EQ thats rechargeable? no. and per day doesnt exist in EQ either.
The Squad Ring in Rivervale has one charge of Healing, 80hp, and can be recharged by Hendi Mruble in the Cleric Guild.

Yes some items can be recharged...and for the record the spell LAY HANDS is a once a day thing (about 70 RL minutes). It may not be an item...but it's once a day. Or dont 45 pallys use lay hands ne more?

Yes - i did see something that can be recharged - Shinging Star of Light!! I believe that all charged items are rechargable - it just takes a lot of guts to find out how to do it - as it usually involves giving the item to an npc - pick the wrong NPC and you lose the item - This is fine fine for low level items but who is gonna practice handing Soulfires to NPC's ? if anyone has any ideas - please post

OK - Let me set the story straight. This is from the SR GM of the Saryrn Server. YOU CANNOT RECHARGE SOULFIRE!!!!! Please do not fall for this as I did! I have learned a valuable lesson. The GM said that there is no way at all for the Soulfire to be recharged. They will not give it back to you, so please do not try to do this. I just really want to protect my fellow Paladins from the fate that I have suffered. Good travels and safe journeys to you all. BEWARE of misinformation!!!

The only way to recharge soulfire is to destroy it and completely redo the quest. Whether that is worth it or not is up to you.

mr.lvl 42 paladin..you dont have to worry about Fiery Avenger or Defender until you are lvl 50
Not true...dont wait too long to do the fiery quests..You will get booted from zone if your too high a lvl for lady vox. You just need lots and lots of people to help out. It can be done at lvl 45, its just very hard to do without lots of fire power and thats at any lvl.
