I picked mine up in the bazaar for about 75pp at lvl 30 with the express idea of training up 2hs.

The only problem with switching to this is the lack of an 'aggro/taunt proc' which, in some of the more 'happy go lucky' groups can be a little disadvantageous.

However, the stats rock, and it ironically it has the 2nd highest ac of any individual item I own after my BP and arms. This is my 'tank' sword. With the new warrior discs, such as the provoke line, I can now confidently wield this, taking all the extra protection it offers, and still hold sufficient aggro in a typical LDoN fight.

In a large raid this comes more into its own, though the trick is to balance weapons to suit. Taking on Vox for instance, with a MR of 160ish I have used my 2 1hs aggro proc'ers first, with Disc Fearless keeping me there until I've landed a couple of Piques. Once that job is done, switch this out and give the clerics a break when Fearless drops. +5 isn't a massive amount, but it makes a difference, and the extra 28 points of AC (weap + proc) and the agi bonus help in a long fight.

Well recently got this sword from a friend of mine for my warrior. kind of a worthless proc if it does proc at lvl 50. But hey really nice stats. Really top notch. If it weren't for the stats the sword would be junk.

And I still get a pretty mean amount of taunt factor with this sword even when i'm not taunting. Heavy hits = aggro city. Same with many many lil hits too with duel wield n crap, but hey i like a lil variety from time to time to keep things interesting.

If you consider this sword "junk", then I'll be happy to take any other "junk" you have of this caliber. It only becomes "junk" when you can afford better or get to a level where the proc is lower than what you can cast (paladins). It's funny how so many people who have reached the higher levels in this game consider so many items as junk. Remember way back when Banded Armor was considered UBER? **JUNK** indeed. Guffaw!!!

There are so many good points made about this weapon to whether or not this weapon is good on a regular fighting basis, or just on raids. I have a 38 warrior and I have this weapon and I really like it a lot. The damage dealay ratio isnt that great, but the str and other stat raisers make up for it. Along with the resist and I dont even have to mention the 15AC on it! Now, I do use this as my 2hander until something better comes along that I can get on a loot or afford to buy, but with all the stats it is a crazy little weapon and I think it really doesnt get the appreciation it deserves. I think it has value outside the resist raids, the AC and stats raisers alone make worth having it in a fight. We all have our own opinions, but I personally think it is a weapon of choice :)

Why does it seem that people are judging this weapon by its proc? If it did not proc, would you not get it?
With the stats attached to this thing, especially the resists, and the 15ac, why even think about its proc? With the extra agi, you are probably not getting hit as much. Would you like it more if it proc'd a cha buff?
Just enjoy the stats of this thing, and just be glad that Verant was nice enough to put some kind of proc on it.

Ok thoughts and comments on this. First off, and this will back up what several people have been saying, the damage to delay ratio on this thing sucks. Plain and simple. As for my self as a 47 warrior I am using a Blood Fire in primary hand ( and yes it procs almost every fight ) and a CSS offhand. While the shots are wimpy averaging in the 20-40 range with crits in the low 70's, they more then outshine those rare 130 crits from the shieldstorm. Its a shame that even with Shield storm I still average hits in the 40's range just 1/4 as many as the other pair.

What this sword DOES bring to the table however is a set of resistances and AC that DO certainly have specific uses. In Dragon raids or any major "need a boost to saves" situation, almost everyone sheds thier good armor for resist gear. If they don't they just don't understand the difference between dying from AoE and hanging around long enough to see the end of the fight. I know that in my case I lose 12 AC from removing my 6/65 rings, 18 AC from the hero and rygorr bracers, 5 AC from the neck slot, 6 AC from face slot, str and HP from ear slots etc... you get the picture .. to throw on BD bracers and earrings and resist rings etc. Switching weapons decreases my dmg output, but my job isn't really to kill, its to hang out long enough to make sure the casters don't get killed. The +5 to all stats along with the 15AC is HUGE when dealing with those situations, then add the 15AC Proc and overall you get about 44 total ac being added ( add a few more maybe for the agi ). Will full resist gear, combined with buffs and a bardsong I am well over 220 resist for magic fire and cold. I don't take much AoE dmg or run away from fear.
Plain and simply thats the purpose of this weapon. Ask those players who go on the raids and you will always hear that AC is king, but there are times when resistance is king. Make it a part of your resist set but don't use it for a dmg weapon.

I personally think, that this weapon falls under what I like to call "social outcast weapons." I think that too many people hear that the weapon is cheesy, thus they think it is. I have one and have been using it to train 2hs, but also to keep my casters safe. With the saves and ac I can safely taunt, without taking much dmg. Also at 31 I double hit for about 75, and crip for 200+. Anyways, those are my thoughts. If I had it my way, I'd wave my magic wand and make everyone think it was worth 6k. Then atleast it'd do the weapon some justice.

I have one of these and have had one for some time now..got it when I was in my 40s'..overall I would have to say its a good weapon. There are some things though about the weapon that you should look at before getting one or making comments..At the level that the weapon procs at, the proc is usless..period..any Paladin using this will have a far better buff...unless hes' twinked or something and any warrior using the weapon will prob have something that will buff him better and if not will be grouped with someone buffing more then likely. Is it slow? Damn straight it is but if your in your mid 40s or above and don't have a haste item yet...well you got bigger problems then this weapon being slow. As far as using a wurm and a shield over this weapon...well...thats apples and oranges. Besides the fact that the AC it gives is like having a good shield and a 1hs wep, the Shieldstorm is designed to give you stats and saves, something you will need on dragon raids and the planes, as well as fighting higher level mobs. The Wurmslayer is strickly a damage dealing wep and though it is a above average weapon of its class, it sucks stamina in long battles. Which slows attacks and lowers damage, a bad thing when fighting a high blue mob in Sebilis. This weapon being two handed and lighter dosent suffer that problem and when used with a common haste item, like a FBSS for example, is just alittle faster then using the Wurmslayer without a haste item. Something most of us did for along time when we were in our 20s or 30s and had just gotten the Wurm. If your grouped and got a chanter with you, well, then its even better. For the ones that say its' just too slow and "sucks" cause of this..I say this..just cause you dont' know how to use a thing, dosen't make that thing usless. The short comming lies in you..not the weapon <in this case>. The weapon does exactly what it was intended to do, give stats and saves while delivering a fairly decent amount of damage, slowly..heh..but still. One last thing, to the guy who posted anon with the "stats and saves don't matter comment". I am sure your are the first person in a group "screaming" buff me buff me! Be safe all...good hunting.

I bought my Shieldstorm really cheap, and it is great for Paladins. Sure you can't use a shield, but then this thing does have 15ac, as good an armor class as most shields. I think this weapon if much better for Pallies, since we can't dual wield, if that answers your question. Warriors might be better off dual weilding. I guess it depends on how strong you want your offense/defense to balance out.

Proc is useless since the Pally spell is much lower than what it procs at. Kinda sad really they should change that effect to something more useful like a symbol or something

Proc is completely worthless to Paladin, since they have Armor of Faith at level 49, which is much better than Spirit Armor. However, for the Warrior the proc is useful. But as others have said, what level 50 Warrior is using this? So, do not let the prc factor in your decision to buy/use this weapon.

This sword is great, it was given to me as a wedding present by a 59 ranger. I do about 54dmg and the 15ac and all the other stats make it a really nice warrior sword.

Someone help me here, why would you want it to proc or not proc for that matter. What is the actual benifit to spirit armor to a lvl 50 paly (none) how about a lvl 50 warrior maybe if he is soloing ??????? Would like someone to help justify putting spirit armor procing at lvl 50..

For a pally, maybe, as the AC from the proc + AC from the weapon is a nice addition.
For a warrior using this I have this question: Why aren't you dual weilding? Aside of the UNMATCHED damage output from DW, it also (and more importantly) adds TAUNT! If a warrior is not dual-weilding, I would MUCH rather have a pally or SK, as the spells they have can make up for the sucky taunt factor 2 hand weapons have.

Take this for what its worth, but at level 29 I do twice the damage and generate a heck of a lot more taunt with this sword than dual wielding yaks. Those one handers are gonna have to start procing to have any hope at all of catching up. Even if they do, I will still keep this sword around for the massive damage it does. Again, at levle 29 I get natural hits up to 66 pts of damage (with double attack thats well over 100 damage a round. Nothing but a wurmslayer will come close to that in 1 hand ), and have had crits of up to 112.

Show me another weapon, besides maybe a StaminaSlayer (tm) that puts out that kind of damage pre level 30.
