I have spent quite some time in Cobalt Scar, and foraged a lot of stuff, and I have never seen one of these. My Forage skill is 200, by the way....

My forage skill is 0....

And I found one in CS the first time I looked..... So yes, you can get them there in the water.

Just look for them on the ocean floor....they look like an item someone dropped...

I got one of these near the underwater ship. They are not foraged. It was a ground spawn.
Location

I have been unsuccessful in foraging these. I know it can be done as others have posted but I have a better way - especially for the classes that do not forage.

In the water is a sunken ship inhabited by sirens and sea chests. If you use enduring breath and invis, you can swim out to it. The shells appear as black spots on the sea floor.

Not all are the correct shells but I found 3 in 10 minutes as opposed to none in 5 hrs of foraging (skill=184).

Good luck trying this, I hope it helps!

The other post said they are found on the ground.... as red squares out by the dragon remains? I dont know what that means... im new to this area. But the odd thing is, misty accorns are both found on the ground and foraged....why not these?

foraging cutting shells in FM
# May 23 2002 at 6:58 PM Rating: Decent
By the way I have been in FM recently and have been foraging and have not found any cutting shells. I am not doubting the honesty of the person who suggested they are there. I think there might be a couple of reasons why I could not forage them also. One maybe it was bug (being that its odd to forage them in FM) two maybe my forage of 170 is not high enough, or three maybe I have to be in a certain spot in the zone to forage them. okay just thought I would pass that along.

It makes sense you wouldn't find them in FM, they don't drop there, it's not even the right continent.
was a little much

Hi all. You might want to stay away from this one. The place is in a really high level zone, there is mobs in the water, and having a map doesn't necessarily help there. I had to pay for a levitate to a sunken ship (but hey finding a location in the middle of the ocean isn't the easiest) and wasn't sure where to swim when the levitate wore off, didn't know where to get bound, barracuda's biting me, stuff hitting me for over 100 dmg and a pain in the neck mountain to go around....and I'm a 39th lvl. Despite working on this quest for the better part of the day after dying I gave this one up.. Just thought I would save some possible grief. However, if you are really good with locations and on morell thule server drop me a line, maybe we can both do it.

Are these things No Drop???
RE: No Drop?
# May 12 2002 at 9:21 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, they are no drop, best way to get them is swim around the bottom of lake picking up red disk like object off bottom till you get your 2. Stay away from sunken boats if your trying to stay out of trouble.

Lake sharks
# Apr 28 2001 at 4:02 AM Rating: Decent
I dont know how many classes have this spell and at what lvl but invis to animals should work with sharks. Druids get as newbies so grab the nearest Druid and squeeze this spell out of them it should help.
Use Forage
# Mar 06 2001 at 6:45 AM Rating: Default
Believe it or not I picked one of these up in Frontier Mountains while using my Forage. I don't know if other zones have this special or not, but seemed odd to Forage in FM! -Lesha
