In case anyone like me who was camping her was wondering, she doesn't visibly equip it when she has the whip.
Clearify Some Things

From all I can tell this is a weak snare, and not a slow.

The duration of this is indeed greater than 3 minutes, but the duration gets heavily mitigated with resistant mobs. However, being a 65 Paladin, I used this to snare on 2 Hard Adventures.

The effect is weak, extrememly weak, compaired to most snares. I'm not sure what the problem is but the effect doesn't seem to be 40%, or even 30. In fact the only thing this is good for is stopping mobs from running. At 20% mobs that try to run do so extremely slowly (even with SoW or some innate running enhancement) and at 10% stop moving. Don't plan to use this to fear kite or anything like that, however.

As a 65 Paladin I can suggest this weapon, however, because it is basically the only snare weapon a Pally can wield. It is easily attainable Solo, and may result in some other neat toys (Bandaid Summon Dagger for one). Except for the library level its all quite entertaining, as well.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but for the record, it's called Tserrina's Whip...Tserrina is the big boss in ToFS

Don't be put off by the poor ratio on this weapon... The proc has an incredible taunt on it and poisons/snares the target. The taunt is what makes this item useful for a tank: if you need it pissed at you, this is the item to use.
Slow AND Snare
# Jul 15 2002 at 11:15 AM Rating: Default
After using poisons with my rogue, and muscle lock being one of my favorites, I can tell you, this is both a snare and a slow. Muscle lock 1 has a duration of 40 sec.

From the safehouse, discussing this poison directly:

I got one for my paly the other day, noone wanted it I was with. I hardly use it because for a char that cant duel wield it isn't quite as effective, but its very fun. Get any form of haste and you swing constantly......only use it when I am not the main tank...

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 29 2001 at 12:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) almost POSITIVE this is also a haste debuff. I think I read that it snares and decreses the haste of the mob by like 70%
snare effect
# Jul 02 2001 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
The effect is a snare type, it slows down movement like snare. I found out with a friend when we duel'd. It decreased my movement when i tried to run around, but not as much as snare would. And when he did cast snare it overwrote the proc effect.

Slow movement or slow attack?
# Apr 03 2001 at 12:29 AM Rating: Default
Is this proc a negative haste, or a negative movement. In other words, does it slow down how fast they attack or how fast they move?
For rogues?
# Mar 26 2001 at 10:44 PM Rating: Default
if it is truely Primary hand only... rogues would never use it... they would have to give up 300+ point backstabbs... no way!
RE: For rogues?
# Apr 14 2001 at 7:40 PM Rating: Decent
Have you ever thought of switching to piercing just for BSing? a buddy of mine did it for 44 lvls, he's got epic now and doesnt need to, but hey do what ya gotta do.
RE: For rogues?
# Aug 30 2001 at 3:06 PM Rating: Default
Much like my little halfling warrior can duel wield and still use a shield (heck, with a couple extra clicks, I can use a shield while 2handing, but I digress).

Keep your piercer or shield in an open inventory slot. Left-click and hold until that slot pops off onto your cursor. Place that slot onto one of your hotkey thingies. Do the same with your weapon slot (primary for a rogue that wants to switch out for a piercer, secondary for the small duel wielder that wants to bash, BOTH for the 2hander that wants to bach.) These slots work in hotkeys exactly as they would in their normal positions. Simply pick up one by left clicking it, and swap out. Easy. For 2handers, pick up the 2hander from the primary, swap it with the shield in inventory, place the shield in the secondary slot, hit the bash button, pick up the shield, drop it where the 2hander is, put the 2hander back in primary. Easy.

Not sure whether Verant would consider this an exploit, but I've never seen anyone get pegged for it. Now if I could only find a way to keep a halfling from getting stunned from the front, I'll be set.
Proc

From what i've seen it procs fairly often..very nice though cause it stacks well with my slow (51st bard chain).but other then that it seems to last about 6 min.

I gained this whip roughly a week ago from Tserrina when my guildmates and I slayed her. However, the proc has been said to be a snare from a line of rogue poisons. But at this time the proc is broken, and the GMs on at least Fennin Ro have been made aware of the situation. Basically it'll be another item fixed in a patch, and anyone who has it will have to trade it in for a fixed one.

I've kiled her 10 times. Seen 6 symbols, 2 staves, 1 robe, 1 whip.

I kinda think the whip is rather on the rare side.

It's not a snare effect :) It's a slowdown.. reduces their attack speed by 40% :P It's not that rare. We got two in about 5 hours of being in Frozen Shadow.

hmm are you certain?
the spell data file has it listed as "Decrese Movement" same as snare and darkness type spells
also, the message given is "Your legs spasm as poison spreads through your veins" sure sounds like a snare effect to me.. people I know who own a whip also tell me it snares.. hmm
RE: hmm are you sure?
# Jun 20 2001 at 11:38 AM Rating: Default
I'm quite certain it doesn't have a snare effect. I used this thing for about ten levels, & all it does is slow the mob's attack rate.
RE: hmm are you sure?
# Jun 21 2001 at 2:48 PM Rating: Decent
Aye, but I also have noticed that any mobs under Muscle Lock that would normally run away do not.

Fought her friday night and got whip on second drop. My guild has taken her down 4 times total and 1 whip, so it's rare, but not ultra-rare. Seems it doesn't proc til 51, can anyone confirm this?

times now about 90% of the time she has the

and not one whip.

Although me have seen better damage/delay whips, me tinkin' dat dis one be perfect for dem rogues. It got pertty decent proc. 40% slow is quite nice. Plus da stat modifiers be very impressive, coupled wit decent dmg/dly dis be a real nice weapon. Da +8 dex must help wit da proc'ing me tink. Well, me hope ta see dis whip in action soon. If anyone gots info on how it does in battle please post, me would like ta hears it.
RE: Impressive
# Jun 12 2001 at 6:10 AM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I have one on my bard, & it's primary hand only, so not too many rogues would use it, not being able to backstab & all.

It's not a bad proc @ all, it hits fast, & adds nice stats, but it still isn't too great of a dmg/dly ratio. As soon as i find the money, or a lucky loot, i plan to retire this whip to my bank.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 26 2000 at 1:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It doesn't proc yet as of 12/24/00. Verant hasn't fixed it yet. Every time it tries to proc it says "This Item is Out of Charges"

Its a snare-type poison
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 21 2000 at 7:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm thinking more along the lines of a Strength debuff and stun. Or either or. Guess we'll have to see. :)~

Yupo.. it's actually a 31-40% slow depending on level. Naturally higher level will cap it at the 40%
