I think that the price of this item should be way higher...The Silvery War Axe is 1hs 6/22, only 1 more damage! And yet it is listed as being worth 98 compared to the CSSSs' 40! But this weapon gives STR, STA, CHA, AND HP!!! I think this is a crock of BS!!! This weapon should be worth at leat 100-125pp!!!

I still dont understand why rangers get gyped in terms of weapons compared to Paladins and Shadowknights. Verant made rangers to be the attacking hybrids, thats y they cant wear plate. They also made Paladins and Shadowknights to be better at defense with plate and no dual weild. But then along comes the fiery avenger, defender, and countless other paladin items that are even better than a warriors. Now clearly, can anyone say Verant Does NOT like paladins the best? Oops, sorry not really talkin bout the weap anymore, sorry. Good for newbies who like stats, but the dmg is too low to be worthwhile.

1. Rangers get a little thing called duel weild.
2. Rangers give up good AC/HPs and Plate Armor to get duel weild and dubble attack.
3. You get to pick your main skill when chossing between a Palidan/Shadow Knight/Ranger. Lay on Hands/Harm Touch/Track. Which one you like more? Good attack and Tracking vs Good AC/HP with a dark side or good side with a High Damage Abiltiy or a Healing ablity?
4. What would you rather use (MAJOR EXAMPLE) a 2h weapon with damage deley of 1/5 or a pair of 1h weapons with damge deley of 1/10s? Not serious numbers or anything but you get the idea. You will do more damage on AVERAGE(!) with duel weild then you will with just the one weapon.
5. I HAVE ONLY BEEN OUT DAMAGED ONCE BY A PALIDAN OR A SHADOW KNIGHT! ONCE! That Palidan was an unber twink with a Soul Fire at level 12 and full Ro or better armor. Was level 35 and 29 respectivly at the time I compared the damage. I can routinely out damage a Palidan with in 5 or 6 levels of me.
6. Were do you get off saying this is a RANGER weapon? There are 4 other classes listed there! Sure this weapon aint that great but it anit terrible either. The only time that a Paladin beats me is when they've got LoH, and use it. I can beat any paladin within 10 levels. But maybe that's because I have a Wurmslayer.
Rangers also get something that the Paladins DON'T. We get better buffs than they do, in my opinion. A Paladin cannot dodge, I do not think, or riposte (correct me if I'm wrong). We get AGI, STR, Skin buffs, even Damage shields. Another awesome buff Rangers get is Spirit of Wolf!
Paladins and SKs are not meant to solo. Rangers can.
And I'm tired of people saying that rangers suck in weapons. Go out and buy a Wurmslayer, for god's sake! They sell for only 5k nowadays.
And THEN you can quest for Ivy Etched Armor. It's not that hard. Just ask for a little help, be nice, and SOLO what you can't get help on. It isn't that hard, really.
Lastly, our Tolan's Darkwood Vambraces are going for only 4kpp. Compare that to Cobalt Boots. I sold a pair of boots for 20k. I currently, as a 38 Ranger, can solo in the Crystal Caverns easily, and beat down there. I make about 500 plat a day there, and if I'm lucky, I get a Crystal Covered Shroud, and sell this for around 3k. Rangers can SOLO, and that is what makes them so good. They can get the plat, and not have to roll on things. I often group with a guildy cleric, and we can take 10 even mobs at a time by root-parking, and DoTing them. Renew the rootings every once in a while, and have the cleric nuke, or nuke yourself.
Regardless, Rangers can solo. Rangers can group. Rangers are NOT that bad of a class. The only thing that I believe we lack in is in Quests. Once you finish Ivy Etched Quests, there are few quests to do that are class-specific, and yield good items.

I bought this weapon for like 20pp the other day while wisp hunting in the Commonlands (the primary cash cow of a lvl 10), and it was well worth the money. To get a weapon that hits like this is just NICE. Lemme lay it down for ya..

hi. ok.. paladins DO get reposite, just like any melee class.. even bards get it hehe. next.. where did you hear that SKs cant solo? wrong. next.. where do you get this 'only' 4k stuff.. im no newbie, but that's still quite a bit. No class is better or worse they just have different strengths and weaknesses.. too much time is spent ******** about class balance than is really needed. EVERY damn time ANY new item comes out.. SOMEONE has to **** and whine about it. we've all heard it before.. 'why cant my warrior make up magic spells on the fly at lvl 60? he's hanging around with a bunch of casters for 60 lvls, you'd think he would pick something up! varent sucks!'

Posted: Feb 19 2001 at 1:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you people need to learn one important lesson about eq...a fighter, be it ranger warrior paladin or shadowknight has one main job. taunting. yes at lower levels the "tanks" get all the glory. but starting at about level 40ish the mages do most of the damage. your job is to keep the mobs pissed at you and not the mages. stop trying to solo everything by getting "uber" weapons. you need to hit fast and alot to keep those mobs mad! as a cleric i know my job. healing. and i do it. you dont hear me ******** about how i cant solo, how i cant fight wah wah wah. most mele classes in this game are a buch of babies imo. so just sit there hit auto attack and hit your hot keys for kick and taunt...the main reason pallies and sk get good 2hs weapons is because of a lack of kick. amd like the above post says its just a game if you dont like it quit. and if you wanna solo play a druid mage or necro, dont like those classes? then get used to grouping.
