Worth it? Hmmm...

This line of smithed armor, the Enchanted Elven Chainmail, is made by High Elves in their racial forge in Felwithe. This armor is actually pretty good as a set, all the pieces giving +2 to +4 Int and Wis, as well as having decent AC and being extremely low wght.

The problem is, as I understand it, the components to make this armor are either extremely rare, extremely expensive, and several of them are both. Add that to the fact that after compiling all the components together, you can still fail at any of the numerous steps in the process, and have to start over again, and I have to wonder if the somewhat small stats are worth it. Why not just quest or camp something with far superiour stats in less than half the time?

The only anwser I have to that (so far) is that it can be worn by casters. Hmmmm. So my enchanter could deck himself out in a full suit of chainmail armor, and get an AC that rivels that of a ranger... doh! heh heh. Actually, for high lvl chanters who don't need a nice robe to keep a 200 Int, this would compliment their illusion spells nicely... no longer do you have to look like a naked dwarf or oger when you illusion because they don't have models of the characters with robes. Now instead of Illusion: lvl 4 Dwarf, you can cast Illusion: lvl 16 Dwarf.

Again, if appearance is important to you, and you don't need the massive +int bonuses most robes have, a couple well placed peices of this would help the AC, and cut down on requests for Clarity by quite a bit :p

When I can afford the extra Int, and have about 25 hours to burn, i'd like to make myself a BP, Legs, and Arms. The rest isn't really visible anyway, except for bracers, but I doubt I'll give up the two best stat resivours on me.

Of course, by then I'll be able to walk up to the Efreeti guy in PoSky and get his Golden Efreeti BP, Legs and Arms... they are PLATE, and are All/All. That'll REALLY confuse people.

And that is the ultimate goal for most enchanters ;)

It's hard to create the gloves. I had much luck my smither finally did it *cheers*. Smithing skill doesn't raise much after 180 or so. 60 Items created without increase can happen. At Skill 190 it's about 1:10 or 1:15 that it will work. So it takes 20 blue diamonds, 10 swirling mist, 20 essence of moonlight for a chance to get the gloves. :-( I would say it takes at least 2 or 3 weeks and 10-15 kpp to get the items.
I'm not sure if i would try to get the gloves again since i know how hard it is to get them :-)

Ok so you want some enchanted/imbued +2wis gloves that you could get a rival of off of a split paw gnoll. ok big boy here ya go.

Go kill 2 HUGE creatures and be lucky enough to get them to drop a rare blue diamond. now remember got to have 2 if you are 100% perfect on every step.

Next Go to felwithe and purchase 2 large bricks of mithril. 40 plat later. Go hunt down an enchanter that not only is 49th level. but is also bored enough to buy enchant mithril. and is not to busy to take the time to enchant them for you. Now bear in mind he's going to want a tip. let's say we are feeling frugal. and tip 10 plat per bar. ok so he won't do it again for you but you got them this time right?

Now then let's go to mistmoore and hunt vampires! ok dokie. just waltz right in the front doors past the 12 or 13 yard trash that would aggro on a god himself, in the doors up and around all the stairs. oh yeah do this at night so your chances are better. after thumping oh 80 or 90 vamps you'll have 2 essence of moonlights, if you're lucky. or you could buy them in the off chance that some schmuck will sell them. (100 plat each we had to pay).

Wow that was fun, now let's go to Najena! yay! loads of experience here for a 46th level druid! We're going to stand around in there killing the one or 2 mist elementals and colleting a large collection of dark elf meat for use in cooking later. After 20 or 30 mist elementals you might. i repeat might score 1 whole swirling mist. oh goody. we're half way there!

Now ok najena was so tough on us. let's go kill a couple of spiders and get their silk. purchase a sewing kit. combine them, get your silk swatch and give the kit to a newbie. (who actually sews?)

Find a brewer who is not only trustworthy but actually knows what they are doing. Hand them the 2 ess of moonlight, and the swirly mist, and of course the morning dew. (you are a druid right? if not. fork over 10plat for 10 morning dews) Here's big chance number one. If he succeeds you may proceed. if not. repeat vampire/najena steps until you get this right.

Now then beg borrow steal a high elf Smith. luckily i have a buddy that helps me. Give them enough money to get to be 200+ in their smithing.
or better yet make you a high elf 1st level twink from hades and jack him to 200+ shouldn't take but around 2 weeks of solid smithing. When you get to 200+ take all of your little packages to the forge that only high elves can use. (how retarded) Open the forge place in the large brick of enchanted mithril and 1 of your morning dews. your smithy hammer (14plat) and hit combine. Oh my goodness it worked yay! if not repeat the blue diamond phase. see you in a week.
If the first one works tempt the gods and do it again with the second. because we all know that 1 set of gloves takes 2 entire bricks of mithril. 10 pounds of mithril for 1 pound of gloves. yeah that works for me. once you have created two sets of mithril links, brace yourself it's go time.

Open back up that mighty forge and place in the 2 sets of mithril links, the silk swatch, and the moonlight temper, add some morning dew and if you wish an imbued emerald (13plat). Say a prayer to tunare, karana, or the gm's cause here we go. click the combine button and step back. if you fail welcome to the club. if you succeed thank your lucky stars you are 1 in a million. You receive these babies!

AC: +7 Wis: +2 Int: +2 Magic Resist: +2
Weight: 0.7
Classes: Warrior Rogue Bard Paladin Cleric Druid Ranger Wizard Magician Enchanter
Races: Wood Elf High Elf Half Elf

and now low and behold you have a set of gloves that you could have blown away with a set of the gnome skin gloves in the tower of frozen shadow. or the poor man's version go to south karana and offer 10 plat for a pair of splitpaw gloves.

So to recap if you are perfect in every way and are in a hurry here's your price breakdown

blue diamonds=350 plat each *2=700 plat
Essence of moonlight=100 plat * 2 = 200 plat
1 swirling mist=50 plat
Sewing kit for 1 use=1 plat
Large brick of mithril=20 plat average*2=40plat
Chain mail gloves patter=12 plat
morning dew = 10 plat (you'll have some left over)
Smithy Hammer=14plat
Emerald=13plat

Tip to the enchanter 10 plat per bar=20plat
Tip to the Smith 100 plat

so if you are cheap and lucky your grand total comes to.... $1160.00 or you could buy 110 pairs of splitpaw gloves. Man! what a bargain!

Thanks one more time verant you retards for a job well done. This is one druid who will NEVER try this little quest again.

Sounds like a plan...!

oky doky, lets waste a few weeks of our time getting some glove woot...at least it would make enchanter illusions look good, and thats all that counts right? Looks come first, thats what I always say. How much would these sell for???

I totalt agree. I am in a guild of all Driuds and Rangers and though I am a Ranger I am always on the look out for things to help my Druid brothers and sisters. I thought I had found it in Enchanted Elven Chain, but noooooo Verant had to make it so damn hard that nobody can get this stuff. Not everybody is friggin level 60 with an endless supply of time and plat. Don't get me wrong I love the game and understand that if it were easy nobody would stay interested, but damn what were the smokin to come up with stats v price and difficulty. Whatever it was pass it down man I wanna see an elephant fly too!

sigh... here's hoping cultural tailoring will not be quite this difficult.

for what it's worth, swirling mist also drops off steam elementals in Steamfont. I got two swirling mists in an hour or so of hunting them.
So you're saying maybe? (j/k) <grin>

Hmm I don't think I'll price out the Brellium Armour pieces, it'll depress me too much.
