Been using this sword to farm velium off of the Tizmaks in GD. You can literally pull all of the caves and whipe them out in minutes.

I put a heal proc aug in it to slow down the damage upon myself. Love It.
Should this be used when NOT the Main tank?

I am a lvl 55 warrior on Tunare, and I got this on a roll during a guild raid in the arena in Kael. My question is this.

When I do LDoNs or simple group XP grinding, I am mostly the main tank. However, when on a raid, at 55, I am kinda low in my guild, so I am never the MT. Should I use this sword if I don't want agro? I don't want to make the MT or healers work any harder than it needs to be.

Thanks in advance for replys.

This is what I know. Hits for 3 waves of 125. Has a MR modifier of -100. Is AE and procs quite offten. Even with a 160+ MR I get hit with it 7 out of 10 times. Droped in arena for me, don't remember the name of the mob. I love using this when I get adds, or I accedently overpull. I can take out SEVERAL mobs with the combination of a good DS and this sword. I always tell my healer Don't heal me unless I am about dead (unless of course I have LoH) untill the weapon procs. After the weapon procs, I have had lvl 60 monks TRY to take agro from me, and have been unable to. With the way this weapon has proced for me, with shammy buffs, I almost have a continuous 125 AE dot. I still have plans on picking up some more MR gear, and getting together with a few other tanks and such, and have an AE party. All in all I realy enjoy this weapon. And the fact of having a weightless Greatsword is neat too. And the graphics are nice, looks like a longsword of etheareal energy.

I just got this tonight and it did not seem to be an AOE proc. It did try to hit me but I think I'm resisting it because I was still full health after fights in SF. I will test more but if someone has this now and can confirm recently that it is still AOE, I would appreciate it.

Welps where to start, ok ill start by saying do NOT use this wep w/o high MR or a kick butt cleric hehe. I managed to pick up this wep on our last kael raid, dropped off a Jud i think but dont remember. I took it to KC a few hours after the raid ( which i will mention kicked butt as well hehe ) and figured ill go see what it procs. I got in a group and we didnt have a chanter thank god =P, so i wipe it out and try to get it to proc. It did not choose to proc till i was almost dead, i had about 20% life and fading fast and it proced. First thought was "cool!!!" but then i noticed i had dropped in HP drastically being my MR is only about 60. Although 375 hp is not much for a 51 war i could tell hehe. Cleric was good though and managed to heal me in time and it was all good. I put the wep away after it proced the first time and im scared to touch it now LOL. Anyways just wanted to throw a lil story/info at yas, hope it helps a lil. Im gonna walk away now with my new two hander and the defiance i won at the same raid >:P. Peace!

Thought that I would give you an overview of this blade and a detailed use in one of the Luclin zones (Akheva Ruins). I use this sword when and if I have 3 or more people in my group and have the ability to have someone greatly increase my dex and str so that I proc the weapon more frequently.

Due to the fact that the Akheva zone is rarely camped fully you can pull from 3- 9 mobs at a time to the zone (safety valve) and then start attacking all of the Centi Dators/Transcient Patrollers and get the weapon to proc right of the bat. Since alot of the shamans that I know are friends and gladly join me for the quick xp I usually doublebox my cleric (if needed) to provide Heal of time (Celestial Healing) and then let the shaman "torpor" me. If we are lucky to have a druid or other "damage shielder" in the group it helps me keep agro on all the mobs and then completely maintain agro. With high dex buff I can proc from 15 to 20 times per group of mobs and I do "ungodly" damage with this sword.. here is the math.

1) When it procs you get 125 damage of the next 3 ticks (18 seconds) thats 375 per proc per mob.

I have pulled up to 10 before doing this with a full group (15 procs per fight and lets say that 2/3 of them land which is probably about right as an average thats 10 full procs with full damage calculated in.
10 x 375 = 3750, then 3750 time 10 would be 37500 damage on the mobs.

2)This DOESNT include the amount of damage that I am inflicting with all the mobs hitting me continually with damage shield and the damage I am doing with the weapon itself which would add bout 15k more damage.

3) Yes you do take damage (dependant on how high your MR is) but if you are Torpored, Avatar'd and healed over time (HOT) by people that know how to play their class you can pull clumps of mobs and just rake in the experience in Akheva.

Summary:

I get tired of the candy asses that play this game and dont venture into new areas and try new techniques... I tried this thinking I would die with 4, then 5 then 6 then 7 mobs... just so you know I pulled 8 mobs and a mind wurm trap (that made 13 and we had to zone BUT we were close to taking it).

Remember the good thing about EQ is the newness of trying stuff and learning along the way.

Got mine last night in a KD raid off of a Trooper through the arch after the wolf pits. The arena giants resisted every time but it fired off on Protectors of Zek just fine. In about 15 waves of thunder, I resisted all but 2 with a MR of 137. The only negative about this is that because it treats the damage like a DOT, you do not get the "so and so was hit by non-melee damage for xxx damage" message after it procs, so it is hard to see the exact amount of damage you are doing to yourself and the MOB with the spell. Nice weapon and nice of it to add to your MR making it a bit easier to live with.

Bind in the Bazaar. When u die on a raid and are waiting for a rez, grab this from the bank and run to the arena. Its kinda fun to AoE peeps in the arena :), even if it does end up killing you, hehe.

1) I have owned one of these for 6 months
2) Yes it does proc on you when you use it
3) If you are in a group and are smart enough to equip yourself with MR equipment before using it you take minimal damage.
4) I can pull at level 59 the entire front area in clumps or 5 or 6 in City of Mist (while helping friends get some fast xp) and with higher dex and str buff this thing just rakes through mobs like butter.
5) Don't use this in a dungeon unless you are doing aoe damage PLANNED.
6) It will proc 3 times over 24 seconds in pulses of 125 damage (375) total. In a Kael Raid once on Kallis in Arena area it proc'd 12 times during a fight. Even with some resists thats over 4000 damage on the giant, not even counting the 2hs damage.
7) Perhaps using some imagination would help some of the posters regarding this weapon. Verant did set the game up for you to DISCOVER by trial and error thats just part of the game.

with kind regards,

I got this weapon while we were raiding Kael Arena. The Giants there resisted it almost every time. I have a couple of questions, as I had little success with this weapon.

Will the resists change as I level? Many of the Giants were even or higher (quite a few reds) to me and the resisted it pretty much every time.

Approximately how much MR would you reccomend when you use this? I had mine at over 130 and still got hit quite a few times. At 52, 3 unresisted waves took just over a bubble of HP. That's a sizable amount of health for a Tank to lose by his own weapon.

I would love to see about 4 or 5 Melees buffed and running through Kael with these things. They have alot of potential if you can use them efficiently. I wouldn't consider using them on single targets, but if you could get 3 or 4 Giants bunched up, you could really toss out some death with this.

# Sep 17 2001 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
This is an odd weapon. It procs an AOE dot, which also affects the wielder. So you take damage, as do any mobs around you (so don't use it around mezzed mobs, heh, or friendly NPCs - found that out the hard way, LOL).

Fun weapon though, hits pretty hard, and the proc really does nice damage. Just toss on some MR gear and buff your MR as much as you can to minimize the negative effects.

Even with the drawbacks, I must confess I love using it - it makes me giggle maniacally when it procs...

But again, be sure to only use it in the right circumstances. As a paladin I like it 'cause I can buff my own MR, and heal myself after the proc (so other healers don't have to put up with it, hehe).

Hope that helps.

Picked one up last night in Kael, came off either an Adjulant (sp?) or a Legionnaire, I can't remember, it was around 4 AM and I was fighting to keep my eyes open. Yes the weight is 0.0, no it does NOT take any STA when fighting, and the proc would not go off for me at (=P) 38.

I got tonight while hunting with my guild in Kael. Didn't know what the proc was but 0.0 weight, 29/41, and a proc seemed like a pretty good weap..until it proc'd that is. Like someone said it does around 400 damage to the wielder, but it does indeed hit the target, after we were done I went to FV and killed some spiders, after I got hit with the proc multiple times I left the spider alone and it kept losing life and then died. It's an AE too which kinda blows. All in all, this weapon is pretty bad, kinda like the Glowing Black Sword: 9/22 1HS +20 dex Effect: Neutralize Magic.

I also got one of these beauties.

Soon after my group was getting the majority of the exp due to the massive dmg it does :-)

Only thing is that it also hits you with some kind of lightning spell that does around 375 pts of dmg :-(

So I just put on my MR gear and that took care of that :-)~

But it still never hits the giants :-(

We were fighting near the King area, dropped off one of the Arch gaurds. when this sword dropped and I was lucky enough to win the lotto :-)

Happy hunting :-)
Just so you know....

# Dec 21 2000 at 11:30 PM Rating: Excellent
We were fighting in Kael, near where whatshisname Wolftamer spawned (near the gates heading into King Tormax's area) and it spawned on the arches behind us. I think it was just a normal mob, one of the Arch guards.

Llews said the proc was damaging him as well. Reason to believe that this thing is broken. The wieght of 0.0 makes it seem broken as well, because even my FA has 0.1 weight. I havent seen anything with 0.0 weight before.

The proc was also resisted nearly 100% of the time on the giants. I imagine the proc was magick based, but divine might was procing just fine on the same giants.

People aren't saying where and from what it drops because with some of these items, such information would cause a ridiculous flood to areas that would otherwise be a pleasure in which to hunt.

I'd also love to know where this drops, but I can do nothing but respect the player that has enough sense not to cause a 'Gold Rush'.

This is a really nice weapon! With the 41 delay, it has the bonus of being given the 'high delay' damage bonus, which is very nice. The 0.0 weight is a dream come true for long battles, as is the +7 Save vs. Magic. Hell, if I could get my hands on this I might actualy bank my Deathbringer's Rod.
