Great Secondary 1 HS for Bards
# Oct 17 2003 at 7:37 PM Rating: Decent
This weapon is one of the better weapons available to non-twink 50+ bards and usually sells for less than 5k. I think this blade secondary and a defenders lightblade (22/34), which can usually be bought for less than 1k, primary would be quite the damage producing combo. All for under 6k. That is unless you have already saved up a nest egg and bought a nice one handed drum. Which in that case, the best damage is done twisting DoTs with your drum and having a nice one handed weapon in the other hand. Correct me if I am wrong, but hopefully this post finds use to someone.

check out the platinum plated re'stek. even better ratio, and pretty cheap in the bazaar. Drop from veksar, and not real tough to get.

I am A Level 40 Druid on Xev, I had been using the Centi Warhammer until lvl 35, and amassed 1HB of 143, I was then advised to work on 1HS, as that is my Epic. At the time (lvl 35) my 1HS was only 15. I set about collecting plat in hopes of buying a nice scimitar to work on my 1HS, In DS I ran into a warrior who had just bought the scimitar, he did not like it and wanted something "BADDER" I liked the damage amount it did and the additional 100 mana points sure could not hurt so i asked how much he would sell it for, he told me 1500 Plat, but in the end i got it for 1400 plat (i had to kill allot of goblins). So now i religiously use this scimitar, I can hit for a max of 51 with it, and though it is slow it is very nice. In the last 5 levels my 1HS has gone from 15 to 129, and climbing.

I learned that. hehe, This is my first toon and first time playing EQ, so I had allot to learn.

In a group My druid can melee almost as well as a lvl 40 ranger I can hit from 2 to 50 pnts damage, but, that is only in a group where I am not taking aggro and being hammered on. solo I have to either Root it and Rot it, or Kite it.

hehe, I don't like meleeing with him anymore would rather DoT it and rot it hehehe.

As a Druid, I never hit anything. I think the time spent whacking on something is better spent medding. I just slap a free dot on it and med away.

If this thing has the stats to support it in favor of something I'm currently using (like the Prelate's Lantern), then I'll buy it, but for use as an actual weapon? Not on your life.

I use this with my lvl 27 Druid and he hits for 50. True he may not always hit 50, but he does probably average in the low-mid 40's. It is a great weapon if you got some good healers to back you up.

As a 59 bard, I must say that this is one of the very best pre-planar off-hand weapons I've seen in the game. I use a Troubadour's Mace in my first hand and I can pretty easily reach a 105% haste (and yes, it is possible for bards) for some real damage grinding.

I took out Wuoshi with 3 friends, and that dragon is a complete wuzzy. Just have a bard pump MR/PR, haste for the tanks and mana for the casters, a decent tank, a healer (druid will do just fine) and a mage or wizard. You might even be able to do this without a real tank if you have a mage with a good pet, though I haven't tried this.

An Enchanter did solo and kill Wuoshi (though not successfully on the first try). Dire Charm is a very good spell.
RE: WHAT?!!!!
# Mar 12 2003 at 4:14 PM Rating: Decent
From what I hear, the chanter (lvl 65) used lvl 62/64 charm (not sure which one it was, but i'd place my bets on the lvl 64 spell) to charm rolandal (another dragon, lvl 60) and sicced it on Wuoshi. 3rd try, charm lasted long enough that Wuoshi died.

Dire charm only works on mobs under 46 i believe, but the 62/64 charms should last a while. However, if charm breaks early, you're less than a puddle of goo on the ground, the dragons can summon you instantly and turn you into pudding.

Yes, this is correct. Command of Druzzil, the 64 charm, is the spell.

Speaking as a ranger, id say this weapon is a nice primary raid weapon. As i have my swifty (40% haste) in offhand and on the raids i attend we generally have a chanter casting VoG, then i tend to go for a weapon with a slightly higher dmg/dly, simply because if i were to use a weapon with a lower delay im gonna have WAY too much agro.

Id never use this weap solo cause it is far too slow, but in a raid/speed group situation then im very happy to use this.

By the way, 2 lammy's for a ranger isnt actually that bad, if your not taunting/snaring then the MT wont actually have that much trouble keeping agro, if he does just back away for a sec, hit hide then rejoin, you'll have ditched alot of agro. I have personally used the guard captains mallet (11/20) in offhand and the rat whip from hate (Ranger only, 5/14) and still had 0 agro problems in good groups (And i was doing this pre jolt)

52nd Ranger using This (primary) and Velium Swiftblade(secondary). Not too bad of a combo and I really dont grab argo from the Warriors or Monks. Even if I did for some strange reasion. We have a spell called Jolt that can be chain casted easy enough.

Ideal Combo Wurmy + Scim + CoF ) but alas would no dought = Dead Ranger
RE: Prim or Secon
# Sep 20 2002 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
hmmmmm. it should almost always be lower delay in primary, this is secondary. velium swiftblade does have such an awful damage though. i think i'd have to do the calculations =)
RE: Prim or Secon
# Oct 21 2002 at 1:52 PM Rating: Decent
he uses velium swiftblade as haste item, its a VERY cheap but high haste % item before u have CoF or any other uber haste items.
RE: Prim or Secon
# Jan 12 2003 at 12:15 PM Rating: Default
Only when in lower level guilds does it = dead ranger in reference to Wurmy/Scim/CoF... However, if you're a ranger on a raid (not group) and still using your swords on Big Boss of Dungeon X, and 55+... something is definately wrong. POW! 400. POW! 400. POW! You score a critical hit! (1538). You get the idea. Of course people with archery mastery do this naturally, but on the raid you would be using trueshot disc.

Hi

I'm suffering a bit bad designed character, thought at the creation that class would get natural bonusses for int and wis(BIG MISTAKE). Anyway not wanting to recreate my char and lvl up again, tend to group. Let warriors/pallies take the agro cast a few DD's and step in the fight assist meleewise while saving some mana to replace healer(s) and give hem time to med up. Don't know if i can keep this up till the higher 40's but till 36 it worked.

# Jul 02 2002 at 8:38 AM Rating: Default
According to the stats, i say the only classes that would have a really good use out of this wep would be ranger, bard, and rogue..... MAYBE druid if you have maxed out wis without your weapon. IMO the delay is too slow for a warrior, and if your a warrior its not worth the amount you have to pay. Of course alot of the bards i group with rarely melee at all, but that depends on the bard.
RE: classes
# Aug 26 2002 at 11:28 PM Rating: Decent
100 mana = about 16/17 Wis if you're already over 200... which is pretty nice.

Even for a Druid, the dam/delay means I can now fend off the lawn trash without resorting to the one 'over-kill nuke' I have memmed Smiley: grin

At 44, un-Guilded and soloing... this is pretty much as close to an Epic as my treehugger's going to get!

RE: classes
# Jul 25 2002 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
the thing is buddy..the ratio 20/34 sucks for sk and pally...hell even a MoSS is better than this..19/29 int10 and thats only 600pp on bertox, sks and pallys cant afford to use the same weaps as other melee because they cant dual wield, thats why the sk/pally weaps are the best in the game, just look at the noct blade and sword of pain.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 13 2002 at 11:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hey monkey, int doesnt help paladins jack. Paladins use wis. Paladins are hardly ever MT so they can afford to have a bit slower weapon with higher damage, unless going up against a casting mob.
RE: classes
# Nov 04 2002 at 1:39 AM Rating: Decent
Wow, a great example of someone that is obviously confused and new to the game but talks too much. First off his example was for a SK using MoSS and considering that a MoSS is SK only a paladin wouldn't use it anyways this was just used to show how Paladins and SK's get 1handed weapons with crazy ratios along with other classes that can't dual wield. Considering this is off a high lvl mob, at the time you would be actually killing this mob, it would be a joke to give this to a pally or SK. Most SK's and pallys will have something that's fairly close to having a ratio of one. Ah you lvl 38's and such just **** me off when you come on and try to act like you know what you're talking about and fail miserably. Most likely the guy realized int isn't for paladins, that wasn't his point anyways. I'm done wasting my time on you, just got me frustrated with your ignorant remark. Oh btw you're Magelo profile is uber! I bet you got that all solo with your drood! HA

As this is one of the few good offhanders I had yet to try, I finally bought one on my server. I stuck it on my rogue, level 52 atm, and I must say the damage output is excellent. My average hit was a double 65ish, and even though I don't swing it as often as its predecessor (11 damage piecer) it hits much harder and definitely does more damage.

As far as off-hand weapons go, it's hard to find one that is tradeable and has more than 20 damage. The saves and mana are nice, but only bonuses; it's quite obvious that the focus of this weapon is its fantastic ratio. I can easily say this is the best off-hander (non-no drop) that I've ever come across.

Only problem I have is the graphic, which unfortunately looks like fine steel. Good thing is that it's sort of unique, as in the high-end game you don't see very many people using a weapon of this graphic type.
Just a thought

Having read everything that wasn't skipped by my filtering, I noticed one thing that nobody has mentioned. This sword has some +20 saves versus Disease and Poison, and only a 2.0 weight. So, IMHO, any class that COULD use it would benefit from it, regardless of their habits as far as meleeing goes...saves are NICE...so for what it's worth, flame me if ya like, I don't mind...

This is around the 13th best RATIO offhander a warrior can have (including ALL zones like Veeshans Peak). Its around the best ratio offhander for a ranger. And I guess one of the best for rogues too considering the low taunt-factor. (ratio only and no proc factor(anyways, the assisting ppl shouldnt taunt))

I draw a conclusion its a very good assisting weapon and should be treated like that when you figure out the price.
RE: dmg/dly
# May 13 2002 at 8:38 PM Rating: Decent
if saying high delay is less taunt, why do idiot warriors use wurmslayers?!?
RE: dmg/dly
# Sep 02 2002 at 5:09 PM Rating: Default
Why? Well, for several reasons. First of all, you don't Want taunt unless you are the MT or ST in any raiding situation...you want damage. Therefore a high dps weapon is highly desired. With a damage per second of 12.75, the Wurm is still pretty high up the list of dps weapons. By the way Gego...you're absolutely incorrect. A warrior's job is most definitely to deal damage in any situation where they are not the assist.
Decondly, in addition to the above, a Wurm can be purchased on my server for as little as 800p. An excellent combination, especially on a dragon raid, would be the wurm in one hand and the scimitar in the other. High damage...low agro...high resists and NO to all the chowder heads who are going to say this, just because you are lvl 60 and raiding dragons, you arent necessarily going to have better.

Simple ALOT of warriors i still meet em at lvls at 50+ are nOObs. lol its funny but those are the ones u see not in uber guilds. This one chick lvl 53 was using a Wurmy/CLS combo....but 40+delay weapon main and a 27delay off hander....SCHW's so 22% haste. but what ever she was fighting at her lvl being a warrior she would not hold aggro. It would be the dumb rangers i always see duel weilding 2 lammys lol. I think ppl have there class weapon selection WAY off. OH also becuase they like the DMG output..lol mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm kay....when are some of my damn warriors gonna understand.... WE ARE NOT THE ONES KILLING THE DRAGONS AND HIGH LVL MOBS . Brilliant offhander.
# Sep 11 2001 at 2:02 AM Rating: Excellent
This is actually the ideal (well nearly) offhander for a Rogue. She's slow and damaging, meaning good output with lower taunt. Saves are a nice perk but the key is the damage.

Would a Ranger bank half of his or her epic for this? No, they wouldn't unless resists were at issue. Would a Warrior use this? Well, non-Main Tank Warriors might well. SKs and Pallies have much better main-hand options. In fact the slow delay discounts this entirely for mainhand use. Still, it strikes me as the near-perfect offhander for aggro aware Rogues (you know, the non-dead ones).

To those that suggest giving this to a caster, I /boggle at you. 100mana is almost enough to cast something by the time you get this. Almost.

I'm a rogue and I've got this bad boy in offhand and ragebringer in main. Meaning I've got a constant 40% haste. I often see slashes for low 100s, never over around 110 or so and love it. 34 delay in offhand doesn't mean diddly when I've got 40% haste and more often than not, am grouped with an enchanter that has epic or at least AQ. So I'm dealing out massive damage with this bad boy. Rangers should have their epic, or be close to it by the time they're killin Woushi. I'd have not accepted this over a ranger if any needed, but all ours got epic hehe. Druid? LOL. If a druid even thinks about dealin melee by the time they're high enough to touch this, they're on crack. This is a melee offhand weapon. Period. All you pre-50 noob druids talkin about melee, shoo, go away, and come back in 20 levels when your head makes it's way out of your ***.

I have to agree with the other rogues here. This weapon is fantastic for off hand. I use this and my Ragebringer together. But, the amount of damage I'm dealing will often bring me right up that hate list pretty fast. I evade constantly and if I have two failures back to back, and if the MT or MA is close to my level, I am certain that my next BS will earn me top hate. In some cased I found I earned the hate faster with this combo than with RB and Bloodpoint procing constantly.

If you are a rogue with RB, I recommend considering getting this weapon. I love it and I bet you will too. Then work on your AC and HP, you'll need it when you have to become tank for a bit in your group. It will happen. Sometimes it is fun to tease that tank 6, or more, levels higher and out taunt them.

Anyone here who says that druids should use this... Sorry but you are a moron. LOOK at the damage / delay. 20 / 34. THAT is amazing for an offhand weapon, where damage matters most and delay means little because you hit less offhand anyways. Besides, this comes from ******** and only raids by guilds will take him down... Do you really think they would be stupid enough to merit this to a druid...

NO. No one is that dumb.

I quite agree! It's pretty sad when the average dolt can't place his own name on the reply, I mean is he disabled, abused, or quite frankly does he have a self complexion problem wherein he cannot fully place his full or even abbreviated name upon a reply due to some morbid psychosematic schitzophrantic obsessive compulsive behavior? Or is he just an anonymous pig who has his head stuck where the sun doesn't shine and he's so lonely in there he has no friends so he just sits at home in his uncomfortable position and clicks his mouse around on the web making fun of "lesser mortals" who are the ones that actually make this game fun, considering their not so stuck on themselves, or should I say stuck IN themselves, that they can't play well with others! So yes I quite agree with Korguran . . . as for you pull your head out of your *** and play NICE!
Scimitar of the Emerald Dawn
# Jun 08 2001 at 7:39 AM Rating: Default
There's a lot of debate here on how this item could best be deployed. I'd say hands down give it to a ranger to wield in their off-hand. For duel wielding you want lots of damage in your off-hand (it's not going to hit as often, so delay is less of a factor) and believe me - for a 1hs 20 dam is LOTS.

So - that brings it down to rangers, rogues, bards and warriors. Rogues and warriors have no need for mana - give the warrior a wurmy and a rogue some uber piercer. Which brings us back to rangers and bards.

Bards already add enough taunt without them adding a huge amount of melee damage - you could possibly say the same about a ranger, but your speedbumps deserve a break now and then for the work they put in taunting mobs off the player who's about to drop - be it the chanter, the cleric, the druid or the tank - a ranger who know's what he's doing will more often than not be the guy who'll take a death to give the rest of the party that extra 5-10 seconds they need to resolve a messy situation.

Be nice to your ranger and let him have this toy!
