haste
# May 28 2001 at 6:47 AM Rating: Default
Just one word :

What would be the price of this item if it didn t have haste???
ok let say 1000pp max

Then it seem to be a melee item, for monk warrior paladin sk ranger rogue.

10 ac 0 weight and monk wearable? I am thinking more than a simple 1k without the haste. Anyways, it does have haste. What would it be worth minus the haste and the stats and the ac? Nothing. But that dosn't mean anything cuz guess what? It does have all of that.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 27 2001 at 11:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hmmmm....think it would work just as well for Shadow Knights considering that the int bonus is the same as the wis bonus. Thx info
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2001 at 10:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have yet to find a group that gives items based on who needs them. Funny thing is - all of these boards are full with people explaining why what item should go to what class etc - and people actually start those little lame board fights about those topics. In the real world, rarely do items that "should" be class specific go to those classes because of the %$@# greed of other players in that group.

it has a small effect on mezing 57 plus mobs from my logs, enough that I keep the buff up, but not enough that I drop my HP or AC for it.

I just wanted to add my 2cp worth to the arguement on who should get this item.

First of all it depends on your group dynamics. If it was a "Pick-Up" group then everyone should be rolling. However against this lvl of Mobs That is extremely unlikely to be happening. In most other cases it should go to someone in the group of classes that can most use this item.

For this item that group of classes would be any of the melee classes.(If wt really is 0.0 then monks definitely included). Just to prove my point to any casters complaining they should be getting this item you should check out the economics. For int casters a cinch cord is only 1 int less and goes for a few hundred plat. For wis casters a cenobite belt goes for about 5k and in fact has higher 2 higher wis. For melees a fbss goess for about 10k and is inferior to this item in haste And AC. Its not even a contest. I'd be guessing that this item would retail for 20k and up.(if anyone was selling).

Of course if everyone involved in the giant-slaying has better, then everyone should feel free to put their claim in. I would be almost certain that this will never be the case though.
RE: Economics
# May 04 2001 at 11:41 PM Rating: Default
for int casters...

at the level that you would be getting this item your INT total should have no trouble staying at 200.

the reason a caster would want this is for tha phat ac. on my enchanter, I actually wouldn't use this particular item due to the fact strawspun belt has 10ac also, *but* if for some reason a new item left me at like 198 int while keeping hp/ac up I would be intrested in this item.

the haste probably isnt signifigant (it dosent say which mob it drops on, I'm assuming something near arena), so thats not a real factor. and most 55+ tanks have a good haste item already anyway.

RE: chanter int
# May 04 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
once you get used to having a large mana pool, you realize the virtue of being able to keep 8 mobs off for an extended peroid of time.

once you have 800 ac you realize the virtue of being able to tank lowbie (mobs lower than 51) with ease.

once you have 1.3-1.4k unbuffed hps, you realize the virtue of being able to tank mobs that quad for 240 and recover while living (as opposed to dying cause you died before heal landed)

these stats aernt required to play a 'good' even 'great' sebilis enchanter, but they make it alot easier to be good, and they are almost required on raids.

I have found my ability to be a 'good' enchanter is based directly on my HP total at the time, and yes I have leveled my char since level 1 -- on a newbie server none the less, and am 12th in line currently to get 60 on my server.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2001 at 12:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i would like to point out, enchanters dont need 200 int, or even 200 charisma and dont even have to be bought on ebay. send a tell to vahen on e'ci for his stats for example, and check out his gear at the same time. not ebayed, ac is no where near 800, int is around 168, charisma is around 140. however, you would be harder pressed to find a better played chanter inspite of his 'handicap'
#Anonymous, Posted: May 02 2001 at 2:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I hope these stats are before buffs. With their cha buff they would get to almost 200 which is all that is needed anyway. I am waiting to be proved wrong but I dont think an enchanter with 140 cha(after buffs) can really do their job correctly.

I don't know how to put this any other way: This whole display of greed and disloyalty to anyone who stands in the way of your getting it is a great way for others to write your name down (I know many people who keep lists) and never-ever group with you, for we know how childish and grasping you will behave.
The only thing Verant could have done better was place in in a PVP area so you could all do a CR to think about who you are as a person.
I have a 35th Level Enchanter on Xev, and I have played with many ten year olds(psycological) and now have about 50 friends whom I play with and love dearly. People who behave with such greed don't deserve to group with me or my friends.
Yes, I would love this item, the weightlessness would free my Str up, the AC would help me live .02 seconds longer. I guess it all comes down to Need before greed, or "Need" to Justify Greed. I would let a Hybrid Melee have it first, and you would not find me "ROTFLMAO", or "/dueling" or yelling insults at my groupmembers over it. I believe having good friends who won't sell you out for an item are more important than some item in a game, but then again, I guess it all boils down to who you are.
Think on it before you respond, sleep on it. This is a good opportunity to learn and become a better player in a way other than Powergaming.

Got one from a giant in kael arena while camping for the idols for the tunarian cleric bracer quest in PoG.
Prophet, priest or cleric,I forgot which one dropped it,but it was not a named one.

We got only one belt after getting even 3sets of idols(including the decayed).

I pay the same amount you do for this game...Im entitled to the same benefits as anyone else (including tanks who want more ac) If an item drops that i can use then i should be in on loto if im going to use it (if its better than what i have) All classes that can and would use it should be in on loto. If you say otherwise your just being greedy. Its a very simple idea really...i have no idea (other than ppls greed) why ppl dont get it.

Ok let the druid get the jade mace since it's ALL / ALL. Try to think a bit your mind is designed for that... What is stuff's goal in EQ? Stuff is there to rend the group / guild efficient. Now give the appropriate stuff to the classes / lvls which will help your group to fight / be better. Or get this belt and die with inefficient tanks and overagroing casters. Stop thinking you should roll on everything you can use, think at who in group could use it efficiently.

RE: Exactly! If it fits.. wear it
# Apr 13 2001 at 1:18 AM Rating: Good
key word "if better then what im wearing". A Jade mace wouldnt be better then what a druid was using in main hand anyway. The problem is practicly ALL of the belts from 50+ dungons especially in kunark/velious have HASTE on them, even if the stats would appeal to a caster class. So, inorder for a caster class to get a decent belt, it is going to have haste on it. There are plenty of haste belts out their, and practicly ALL of the 50+ tanks already have a haste item (mostly FBSS). Way i see it, if a belt has better stats then a belt a caster is wearing, and more haste then a tank is wearing, they both should roll, or else casters are going to get stuck wearing braided cinch chords to 50
RE: Exactly! If it fits.. wear it
# Apr 27 2001 at 6:50 AM Rating: Default
If at 50+ you're a caster and you don't have 200 INT or WIS already, you deserve to be shot... I play a low WIS race cleric and was maxxed and +150 mana in gear before I got 50... =P

I'd love to be the leader of the raid or better the guild you were in when you tried to pull this reasoning... Haste and AC 10 on a caster instead of upgrading an FBSS.. ROFL...

And for those mentioning a progression on these... I'd stick Monks in with Hybrids for the top spot, 10 AC and 21% haste is awesome for them, usually a monk has to sacrifice AC for their haste(via low AC)
RE: Exactly! If it fits.. wear it
# Jun 15 2001 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
How is this an upgrade to an FBSS?? I thought the FBSS had a much higher haste percent than the 19 or 20 peeps are saying for this belt.

What gives?? Yea...I know..the AC is an added bonus...but the haste is what is really sought I would think..
RE: Exactly! If it fits.. wear it
# Jun 15 2001 at 9:09 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I've been reading that some folks have tested it and found it to be exactly the same haste as FBSS (their tests, not mine). So this is essentially an FBSS with a lot of AC.

Yes, I know 10ac isn't a lot, but when your primary is a monk, and your velious quest armor chestpiece has 16, and your pants have 6...10ac on a belt is a HUGE upgrade from the no ac fbss. The fact that it weighs 0 is just a bonus. (I personally would wear this belt if it weighed 5...I'd make room)
RE: Exactly! If it fits.. wear it
# Mar 06 2001 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
Not really surprised that came from a warrior ;)

Still ye both have valid points...however if you look at the item it has a nice WIS and INT bonus that would benefit one of the hybrid casters....so who really could make more use of it...the hybrid would get the benefit of more mana and also a higher AC to avoid being hit...

Still am of the old opinion...if your class can use it and you feel you could make good use of an item then you should be allowed to roll...

No-one should ever be disallowed to roll if they want to...unless the item is not for their class and others are there that it could benefit....

Melee or caster???
# Dec 23 2000 at 4:36 AM Rating: Default
I got a 37 lvl mage and my int is already 200 with no twinks since he is my first on the server I'm on, so the int is really not that important to me the 10 AC is nice, but once again really doesn't boost my effectivness very much. A 30 HP or 30 mana would of been alot better for my mage to get excited about this belt. My other char is a monk and when I saw this belt with the AC 10 0.0 Wt my eyes bugged out. Add a haste and this puts monks very high on the list to get this. Melee casters about the same, but they can get many high AC belts and the +5 wis will help them alittle but not much. Monks have a very hard time finding AC items this high that they can wear or has a high weight along with it making the item unuseable. If the haste is 21% or above I would give this to a monk everytime then melee casters. If the haste is low the melee casters would come first since most monks would still not give up a FBSS for it. All pure caster would be last being the least effective by this.

BTW I got 200 int without int items in my wrist, back, waist, feet, shoulders slots, and being only 37 I havn't received any of the big int items yet out there that will allow me to swap str hp items for the int slots I got right now.

my gloves have 7 (I think?) int
my arms have negative (yes negative) 3 int
my legs have 3 int
my boots have 9 int (dont laugh)
my back has 1 int
my jewlery is all hp/ac
my face is 7int
my bracers are 5 and 7(9?) (forget offhand, its golden bracer) int.

I have the ability to get above 255 int (actually I have never done this, just thought about it now, is it possible to get above 255 or is that a hard barrier?) if I put on the best int items (nodrop) that I have rotting in the bank.

once your high level you will have spent enough time to see enough items drop to get these high int items for yourself )

(and yes, I'm bored, thats why I'm listing all my armor ^_~)

Verant knew exactly what it was doing when it put in a belt that EVERY class would want. Look at the name: Silvery Belt of CONTENTION. Contention means: competition, rivalry, the act of contending. Contend means: struggle, battle, fight, compete, vie, dispute...

They specifically made this belt so that everyone would fight over it.

Yes, Verant has a sick sense of humor. Keep in mind that they are the same guys that made the enameled black chest plate look cool, but give 25ac and no stats, and the treeweave make you look like a newbie, but give 25ac and 10str. Treeweave is probably the best melee type chest piece out there, for it's rarity and the average price, but makes you look like you're wearing leather. *ugh*

# Dec 20 2000 at 8:40 AM Rating: Default
Never seen a better belt for a shaman. This is a Flayed Turmoilskin belt with haste and str. 1 more ac than it too. I want one, hehe.

But seriously folks, this is a belt that every single class in the game could use and it make a huge difference for them. I like the fact that it's even in the game. I like the fact that tanks might have some ac to go with their haste. That FBSS is sssssssoooooo wimpy with its 0 ac, absolute crap really. The haste isn't even that good. Ah I hope this belt becomes common at least at high levels. I'd like one at that point. Why do I need haste? Well I'm a shaman lvl 51 and tonight I was meleeing ragers with my Blight (big naggy hammer) and no damage spells. Just my hammer. Blue ragers, and getting good exp too. Average downtime between kills, 40 seconds. Haste would add to that brag nicely. I think every person in the party that sees one should get a roll. Unless it's dragon-raid-style loot. Then it probably should go to the tanks who don't have some better haste item already, much as I hate to say it.

Who's greedy?
# Dec 19 2000 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
Well, as a paladin, all I can say is OH MY GOD!! This belt was designed with hybrids in mind.

10ac belt- first off- it's nice to get back the ac you lose from a "Tank's" belt wearing a FBSS. Sure you get 5 from a hangman's noose, or 4 from a swirlspine belt but 10 is what a tank would rather have around his waste.

5wis 5int- now it could be argued that the casters are greedy. Seeing as how this is really the only stat on the item they would truely want. Hybrids have a hard time as it is trying to keep their ac decent, their wis or in usually falls by the wayside. This makes this belt a hybrid dream item. You get AC AND WIS/INT.

Haste- no tank/melee above L45 better be without haste of some form. We almost all opt for the FBSS because, despite its rarity, it is the most readily available haste item.

4sta - mmm this is SK/PAL geared. We are more apt to carry a high dam/del ratio one hander so that we can benefit from using a shield for more ac and possibly stats. Usually, a one hander with a good dam/del ratio is going to be HEAVY. As a paladin with 106 stamina and a WS, I would LOVE to have more stamina. I cast invigor as a matter of course these days.

This is actually a more valueable melee item because of the multiple benefits it would give versus what it proffers to a caster.

Melees would employ the following benefits with regularity:
- sweet ac for a belt
- haste
- stamina

Casters would employ the following benefits with regularity:
- sweet ac for a belt
- wis/int

Hybrids would employ the following benefits with regularity:
- sweet ac for a belt
- haste
- stamina
- wis/int

If I start a group and land one of these things, even as my druid-- it goes to hybrid -> melee -> caster in order of greatest utility.

Ok Ok I'll give you the fact that it's more ulitarian for a hybrid but...MELEES HAVE FEWER ULTILIES!!! They basically only need AC AC AC and dmg dly ratios, melees and hybrids on the same roll lvl, casters after. Although I have heard the haste is broken atm so /shrug guess right now casters get better use out of it (
RE: Who's greedy?
# Jan 23 2001 at 6:25 PM Rating: Default
BAH,, just roll for like it everything else or perhaps it's just that you believe that us casters are cash cash rich and can easily spend a 1000pp for a Braided Cinch Cord which has worse stats. As for not needing the Haste, We get agroed and have to fight just everyone else, only our weapons tend to suck (if we even have one).
RE: Who's greedy?
# Apr 22 2001 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
Rofl 1000pp for a braided cinch cord only costs 200pp on mithaniel marr but I being a level 58 warrior on on of my alts who only has a swirlspine belt for my haste item even agrees a sk/pal/ranger would make more use of this belt.
