Use for this weapon:

Ya know those tourneys Verant is always having? Well, just step into the arena hefting this staff and proc away ) Soon your opponent will be knocked on their **** OUTSIDE the arena. The crowd goes wild, so take a bow.

I'm not even going to bother defending this weapon. If you cannot see the advantage of having this, even at a higher level, then, well, your just blind :)
WOW!!!

this item is amazing!!i want it what it cost???
info on staff...
# Feb 12 2001 at 5:06 AM Rating: Default
Like some of the other items in DN, this has a minimum level requierment of 51. The proc on the staff is also broken... It was created lure based, so bascially you can run up to a dragon and knock him silly with this thing in its current state.

great item

very nice item but whomever at Verant put it together must have been rolling dice when they were deciding stats! it is nice though, and any class that can use it will benefit from it except perhaps the wis casters, theres only 1pt of wis and 10mana, but the dmg/dly is nice and the proc is decent too. i would be hard pressed to find a 2 item combo to out-do the 14int on this thing (GBS and stein of moggok come to mind, thats 19int for 20k or more, heh)
Great Item!
# Jan 01 2001 at 11:15 AM Rating: Default
This item was obviously created because once in a while us Casters get into groups with overzealous, dumb warriors (and hybrids who think they are warriors) who pull trains ... Anyway I sure wouldn't mind having this, even without the D/D ratio its an awesome item.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 22 2000 at 3:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 03 2001 at 2:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Shut the hell up, newbie.
Not a very good item...
# Dec 21 2000 at 10:54 PM Rating: Default
Here's why...

Why would any caster class beyond the level of 35 melee? Any creature of level 35 and up will quickly pulp a caster regardless of the weapon they carry. The only class that would benefit from weapons such as this (also the Runewood Great Staff) would be a shaman as shamans get to wear real armor, even though the WIS+1 bonus sucks! As for clerics? When was the last time you saw a cleric do anything except sit on their *** (because that is what this game meant for them to do)? They wouldnt dare do anything that might scratch their Barney Armor. And Verant put this in a lev 45+ dungeon?? WTF was Verant thinking? The Knockback effect will not allow casters more time to fire off a spell even though it sounds hopeful. In using this staff to support tanks, the Knockback only serves to **** off the tanks because they must continually adjust thier postion because the Knockback will "you are too far away to hit this target."

I myself am a level 52 chanter. I can think of at least 1 use for one reason why I like this item for melee. I am in a decent size guild, 50 to 60 members. Usually when we go to a place, there are 1 to 2 other chanters on the raid, all higher level than me. I find myself casting color series quite a bit. I have to be in melee range already to cast these spells, why not whack-a-mole while I am there? Even when I am not in melee, look at all the resists. Casting Fascination in dungeon crawls usually does not allow for alot of room and I have a chance to mez myself. Another +7 magic reistance never hurts.

Also, I do have this item, it is not a fake.

Sladaru, I was thinking about getting this item for similar reasons, most people who say "Enchanters above 20 never melee!" have never played one to 50+. When color chaining on raids, or in small groups on casters, there's no reason not to melee, as you're already in melee range as it stands.

The problem with this staff is really the proc. Yeah, it's a lot of fun... I played around with a friend of mine's and sent all manner of crap flying around everywhere, including him.

The problem with this is the proc itself in a realistic situation. If you're on a raid you've got 10-30 meleers all situated around a mob, primary tank is just in front, secondaries all behind, with rogues all crowding the buttocks of said mob. As it stands it's a very precarious situation as most high end raiders will use a primary tank and situate all melees beyond that to reduce hate.

In essence, the late game balance of who's where in a melee situation is a precarious line. This staff takes that and blows it all to hell. A mob gets knocked back in regular melee from a bash and suddenly the rogues are too close and are taking hits... But this item, jesus. You can hit a mob with this and all the sudden he's flown into the casters and now that wizard who just let off his first nuke has his hate raised so much more by proximity.

In small group situations you have a similar balance, and it's just as pronounced. If you're in Karnor's for example, the towers are constant influx of caster mobs and most enchanters tend to color flux up there directly along the center of the walkways. One proc from this item and suddenly that spectral curate has gone flying off of the castle, into the moat, and is gathering up a bunch of dogs and callers to come chew your hide.

As such, the proc on this item really erases it's effectiveness when color chaining. Tserrina's staff is much more appropriate.

Still a burly ol' item as far as stats and saves go, particularly for an enchanter.

Firstly, Casters dont carry weapons solely for it's damage. This item has multiple bonus stats which are very usefull to any casters. You obviously failed to see how usefull multiple bonus stats are. All you had to comment was based on melee. Secondly, with your comments about the clerics; if I was the cleric in your group and you as the tank, I would be very happy just to see you die. Do you really think a group without clerics and druids would last long in any dungeons? I don't think so!

"Do you really think a group without a cleric and druid would last long in any dungeon"

Maybe you should learn to play before posting.
You must be kidding
# Jan 06 2001 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
Are you kidding? The stat bonus alone makes this worth having! As you said, casters do not attack at the level they could get this at, so anything they carry in either hand will be for the stat bonus alone. Of course it is nice to have the added security of knowing that if it comes down to it (hopefully it never will) they CAN do some damage hand to hand. I would take this in a instant. If you get one and don't want it I'll be glad to take it off your hands.
Actually he's not kidding
# Jan 12 2001 at 11:21 PM Rating: Default
It's a decent item, not great. The problem with it is it's 2HB. Depending on your needs you may be much better off with 2 one handed items for the stats.
RE: Actually he's not kidding
# Mar 06 2001 at 4:26 PM Rating: Default
I agree, If this was 1hb, this would be the thing to have and worth 30 kp or more, as it is, I would never use it. good int caster twink item. I have to wonder if the 1 wis is a mistake. Why 14 int but only 1 wis. This leads me to believe that this is prob a fake item.
RE: Not a very good item...
# Dec 21 2000 at 10:56 PM Rating: Decent
This staff is nothing more than a twinkie toy. It will soon end up being auctioned in East Commons.

# Jan 30 2001 at 12:18 PM Rating: Default
Not a really good item ? really ? bah, stats are just excellent, good ratio dmg/delay, wis, save magic fire cold poison des, int if you a caster and some other stats less usefull but still good, that is not a twink item since you have all that SV stats and good wis or int, personnaly,i like to have a weapon and as a druid i m not getting many hits so i don t care about AC, all i need is Wis,mana and save, especially SV magic, so unless i ll can get my Epic quest weapon, that one will be next on my weapon list to replace my fungy staff.
Of course it have many shields really nice, especially Velious shield, but depend on how you re playing, personnaly don t thing that staff will stop to be auctionned in EC or i should say don t thing someone will auction that kind of item for a while.

this is good for wizards mages and necros it has 14int. u don't have to hit with it
Newbies
# Mar 03 2001 at 2:31 PM Rating: Default
Why would any int caster use that? By the time you could get one of these, you could have a stien of moggok and a gbs in both hands for 19 INT, and a bunch of other stats. No caster (that is not a newbie like you people) that I know would ever use a 2hb. This will end up just being a twink item since its not that great at the level you can get it.
RE: Newbies
# Mar 04 2001 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
Err. Can you say stats? My guild does dragons and other Uber mobs regularly and saves are the key to victory. If you think this thing sucks then it is you who are the newbie.

Saves + INT == dream.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 07 2001 at 7:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you have 205+int you would use this. Too bad its fake.
RE: Newbies
# Mar 24 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Decent
Hmmm: its not a fake.

We got one last night on Bertox- Talon Guard is our guild. One of our wizzies has it, a fellow who collects weird stuff.

Yes, its somewhat less than fantastic at the level you have to be to get the thing. But it must be the most stat-rich item in the game :)

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 29 2001 at 12:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LoL, first of all, everyone who says this is a fake is an *** because your basing that purely on thinking highly of yourself. It's real, I have one. I use it, and, I'm a 56 mage. Why do I use it? Because at my level it is VERY easy to get over 200 int so that's not important to me, I can have 200 int without holding anything in my hands. WHat's important at high levels for raids and such? RESISTS, they can make or break a player and what this item does have is resist. So if you don't use it for novelty (this staff is a blast, I've meleed with it IN fights, and no one cared), if you don't use it for melee, if you don't use it for it's plethora of stats including the int, and if you don't use it because your narrow minded because it's 2hb and looks like a stave of withering, then use it for the resists. I've had many high level casters say that if they hadn't already had their epics they WOULD yield this. Don't go an say, "Well they're dumb newbs," they're not. So when you don't need the int because your well over 200, then use this. BTW, it really isn't that hard to get. Did it w/ one group, as long as you have a samrt puller, cleric, and enc and don't trigger all the traps like a 'tard then you can get this item relatively easy.
My good lord...!

An increase to EVERYTHING in the Character Info screen except ATK, a wonderful Damage-Delay ratio, nifty proc, and usable by all the non-hybrid casters? All I can say is that Hyrin of Tarew Marr must be one happy cookie. ...with a zone name like Dragon Necropolis, though, it sounds like Hyrin earned it, too.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 19 2000 at 1:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Crap... I am actually out of words on this item...

Okay...

This is a great item, not class specific. Although which class would want this the most...?
With the 14int it would be wonderful for the casters, but the dam/delay would be perfect for the deity classes.
I guess we just have to all fight for it... ;)
RE: Okay...
