Um yeah necro's do get a life draw spell at lvl 8. I have a lvl 11 necro and so i would know. i just bought the spell.
Not a great proc, but not to bad for a low lvl rogue or for twinking a rogue. Coarse its Offhand use only so won't be able to give it to your Rogue till lvl 13 but still... anyways thats my 2cp.

Speakign as Warrior who has had and used this weapon. Don't bother. Better midlevel lifetap proc is on Deadwood Stave (Lifedraw). It begins to proc at 30 as well and is a Lvl 12 Necro Lifetap which max's out at 45HP tap. 8/28 1HB weildable in both slots.
I Sometimes use Deadwood Stave main hand and Jade mace off hand. Decent damage output and if you get lucky up to 5 procs a fight. If your Dex is less than 100 don't even think about getting a Proc weapon. You'll die hoping for a proc. :p
Don't consider a weapons proc when deciding on its use. If it goes off, great! But the moment you start to rely on it is when you will die.....

NOt only does it do 11 damage, but heals for 11 points! Thats great. Plus it is a damage 9 piercer with good delay...DAMAGE 9! Backstab galore. Forget burning rapier. I want to do more backstab damage. I am doing over 40 points at lvl 10 with a backstab skill of 1...now thats sweet.

Garou is a gnoll-looking mob. hes light blue to my 53 ranger so around 40ish im guessing. i have pretty good gear with my ranger and have just over 2k hps and 980 ac self buffed and i couldnt solo him. he hits hard and fast is main reason why. Oh yeah, hes found in Iceclad roaming around the ToFS.

The above is correct. I am a 51 Druid, and at teh time I fought him was a 49, I belive. I made the mistake of fighting him at only 75-80 mana. He is a shaman and really can't hurt you that bad magically, but he does hit very hard. If I had full mana I could have Starfired him to death easy, he had no visible health left when I ran out of mana. I mistakenly picked up some added dirvishes and had to snare them and wasted the mana for my killing blow. He DOES gate too so you need to be ready for that. His spawn/gate spot is a little to the right of the tower if you are facing the entrance. And of course, he did not drop the skin needed for the club, but I got this fang a spell drop and I think a skull, I forget.

I got this weapon at level 28, and it started proc'ing at level 30. Sure enough, 11 pt lifetap. Not overwhelming, but it's a great offhand weapon for the price (paid 400pp for mine).

same for the 7 damage weapon :) the higher the damage the more potential damage can be done so he was right with the ratios :P

I got this item 2nd day after velious release. Lifespike is not a lev 4 necro spell its a lev 8 necro spell and it will suck 11 hp of dam per victim. As far as the proc goes I don't know because I havent tested it yet because I don't have a rogue twink to give this weapon to ).

Sorry, necro here, it's a lvl 4 spell. We don't get a lifetap-series spell at 8th, only Vampiric Curse.

Even if this does proc low, Lifespike is a level 4 necro spell, it would do 10 damage. It is a worthless proc.

you think it should proc at low level because of the damage to delay ratio? it has a better damage dealy ratio than the gloomwater harpoon (the weapon i am using in my primary at level 40)!
Nowadays most people compare piercers to a burning rapier. You can get the rapier at around level 30, whist is the level it starts to proc.
This weapon is on par or a litle worse thet the rapier, I am not sure which on I would use primary, if I had both.
I firmly believe in looking for straight damage ratio for rogues over level 30. The mainhand damage bonus and the backstabs cancel out when comparing fast and slow weapons. High backstabs are flashy though.

Just kinda something I thought someone might wanna think about... I know me, and prolly many other people have lived through a battle with 11 hitpoints, or less, or zoned with less than that, or.... if it proced 3 times in a fight, 33? Heck yeah ;)

Also, look at it if it procs often. It may just be 11 hp, but multiply by the amount of times it procs? Hell, I used to go around beating things with a tentacle whip just to raise my health faster after 50%!

I like my burning rapier. Can't beat the 7/20 ratio. I pierce like a madman with speed. I call it the "Spaminator".

it doesnt proc for my 24th warrior, i got tired of waiting for the damn thing to proc so i traded it for truesilver arms...i need ac more then some silly off-hand only dagger with a 11pt lifetap proc. oh well :)

i just looked it up and lvl 4 is 11 hp , that sucks , my lvll 12 one is 43 hp , o well i stil got it for free=)

im pretty sure that this wep doesnt proc a 11 lifetap, when i played a necro my lifespike did 40 hp or 39 i believe, when it procs ill let ya know but im sure it cant be 11 hp unlless that's just a necro advantage

Your Necros Lifetaps do more because his spell casting abilities are much greater than that of a warrior

it Does proc 11 hp lifetap. i let a 35 level warrior try it and it proc'd 11 points. i am 28 and it does not work for me.
