Worth it?
# Dec 31 2003 at 11:39 PM Rating: Good
For what you get, this quest is a waste of time really. I started it at 35, and by 42 had better just trading junk. I still have about 2/3 of the pieces for a full set and can't sell the crap. I was only able to actually make one bracer and the boots =/ I may finish the quest just so I can sell the completed armor or make a noob SK to twink for kicks. If you like questing it's ok, but you'll be killing greens before you know it doing this quest. Just my 2cp.

Luclin was a disaster, first the over-done graphics, stopping many from being able to play many of the zones because of LAG.. then lousy minded design on new mid-ware armor that is worthless even if you happen to have the time to waste doing the quests, and now years later a broken POK, and loads of other issues as yest unresolved.

Change is needed in EQ, the leaders there have failed and lost the way.

I keep hearing the word Quest
# Oct 09 2003 at 5:53 AM Rating: Decent
Well all just competed the Darkforge Armor quest it took me from level 39 to level 42 lots of experience and plat to boot bankrolled about 3500 pp just looting and selling, now I am up for a new quest, (My Darkforge sits in the Bank), this looks like it would be a blast to finish off.
One of the things I have been doing is dragging along lower level Guild SK’s and letting them A) find out about the Quest in the first place and B) letting them loot some of the Armor for them selves its been a blast playing the Game Quest style it is a kicker!

I have been checking the posts and oh yeah you bet a full set of any gear looks sharp, Me I wear a whole world of mismatched gear trying to get that perfect balance of AC, HP, Str, and resistance, guess that makes me a Buffet type Shadow Knight. ( you all know a dab of this a smidgen of that and a dollop to that other thing over there, I kind of look like a Circus Parade come to town.)

I see that the minimum level you can start this is 45 ok group some to 45 then off to the horse races, as soon as I finish this quest I will post again and let you all know what I can and for them what got sour grapes cause you have to put a little of yourself in to playing the game, here is an idea go play DaoC I am fairly certain that is why its called Yes you got it last word Quest first word Ever.

If your not having FUN, your not playing it RIGHT.

I plan on Questing for this stuff asap as i just made level 40. its better than Crusty's in my opinion because i wont have to take the stuff off before i see a Vendor and it doesnt Drop my Dex by 12 points it increases it by 36 which we all know we need for those (Sarcasim) Live-saving Vampiric Embrace - Scream of Death Lifetap procing Self buffs. i have yet to have gone on a Raid, but from what i have heard you really only need resists when you Dueling or in a Raid. i got Curious ( acctually i was bored during a patch ) and i added up all the AC and Stats and Resistances and this is what i got.

140 AC
52 STR
36 DEX
86 INT
200 Hp
50 Mana
5 CR FR MR
1 PR
1 DR

As you can see Resists suck but everything else is decent in my opinion. Btw i didnt include the Mace Weapon for this Set because i doubt anyone in a guild or in their right mind would use such a weapon.

Just for a Comparision to Dark Forge and Crusty's here's some Stats.

Darkforge Stats

89 AC
22 STA
4 STR
5 INT
5 Dex

MR is 16 with a +5 to the rest

Here's Crusty's (what i am wearing as of this post)

81 AC
31 STR
73 STA
-36 CHA
-12 Dex

And does nothing to Resists =(

My Main Reason for posting here tho was to find out if anyone know where to find the Jewels ( Moon, sun, astral etc...) POST IF YOU KNOW PLEASE

Hope this helps

Cral Ligi Painter spawns in Twilight Seas (in Alien Grove, thru under water tunnel) and not as I previously stated (and believed) in Tenebrous Mountains, this was why I found him such a rare spawn, I was in the wrong place Smiley: bah
Not enough experience of hunting Aliens in TS as yet, I have read you need to kill Warders and Spiritwarders (of either race) to get the Named to spawn, this seems to be the case from what I have seen.

Hints to Tenebrous Mountains(anyway)

- DarkWing Bats and Dire Sonic Wolves see invis. Darkwings cannot be rooted or snared.

- Aliens are Element based, Cral Ligi (and Meeda Hune)are Air and so drop Windstones and Essence of Wind (bottled alien flatulence, anyone?) these sell nicely in Bazaar.

- Coterie (Vampires) outposts should be avoided, they invis themselves, don't be fooled in thinking an outpost is empty. Of course you actually need to kill a Coterie Dragoon for the Delicate Sculpture. He's found in the second outpost clockwise from Katta entrance. There are two named there (names escape me atm, may re-edit) One is an SK (HT for 521) and the other is a Necro (with a tendency toward ignite bones) but if is a problem do not despair too much, I have seen the item for sale in the Bazaar on several occasions.

- Kill any named Aliens that spawn, I am not 100% sure that the spawns here are not unlike those for elementals in TS. Kill one type and any of the others can spawn on their place.<edit> this now applies to TS but I have read you need to kill Warders and Spiritwarders only, of any race.

- If you ever do get KoS to the aliens there (they hate Boon of Garou, btw) head to Scarlet Desert and kill Tro Jegs to regain it. Which you'll be doing for the Mark, anyway.

One final thing for these quests, while doing them you will amount lots of items for quests you are not actually trying to complete. You can either destroy these, sell them or keep track of what you have and what you need to complete, then check Bazaar for the items you are missing. You are not likely to complete any of the Chest pieces by accident (as I said, each piece seems to have a part that takes forever or a lot of luck to attain) but I have made many other pieces that I have passed to alts (mine or friends) or just sold.

are all these items really nodrop i got a high lvl rogue and a low lvl idiot sk and these could help him
RE: nodrop
# Oct 23 2002 at 5:00 PM Rating: Decent
Yes. So far I have gotten a ton of pieces and they are all tradeable (quest pieces that is). The armor pieces and weapons are also tradeable. Spelling looks weird on that... Smiley: confused

I used to think that none were no drop until I found out why my last piece for wizards robe couldnt't be found in bazaar or ooc. The mark of sorceryyy is actually no drop and i had to have a guildy MQ it for me. I've com[pleted over 60 sets of armor including almost all BPs except for the pure casters. Maybe for some odd reason SOE wanted pure casters to have it rougher i don't know but i do know at least 1 piece is no drop.

Finally got mine last night (after waiting for respawn because of Necro's hunting Quest NPC's)
It's Dark blue, about the same colour as a Engraved Royal Velium armour.

My tactic for getting last part, Painted Ornament, was to buy it in the Bazaar Smiley: tongue

A little more than Sentient prolly
Nice BP
# Mar 15 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Good
As an Iksar shadowknight these armor quests are pretty nice AC for pre-planer gear. The other SK races have their sentient, BE, DF, etc...while Iksar just wear dreadscale until they get to raid level. I don't know about you all, but having an 18 AC bp at 43 is kind of rough, and only an Iksar would know how that is.

Other platewearing sk races might not see 22 AC on a bp impressive, but i do, considering this is chain armor (ie Iksar wearable)

Now, only if the quests were designed for the intented level...

Its still nice knowing the Breastpiece is worthwhile.

I play an iksar sk on Sol Ro, there are a lot of nice pieces you can get it you know what to look for. This BP is a little better than average for what we can get, but you can also get a froglok chestplate, barbed ringmail BP, sebilite scale coat, dragonhide armor, and all of these should sell in whatever market zone you use.
RE: Nice BP
# Mar 16 2002 at 1:40 PM Rating: Default
hmmm barbed ringmail is nice yes...but those are expensive. on sol ro server (i also play on) they go for what? 5-6k? not sure about the others but the barbed i was looking into until i got my greenmist BP. So, unless you have the cash, iksar don't really have a lot of choices on things until higher levels AC wise on BP's

Barbed Ringmail is what I got. My Iksar SK 42 is my main character, so I just scraped and saved until I could afford it. It's much better than this BP and it probably took me less time to save the money (1 week of constant farming) than it would to find all the parts for this quest. The only downside is that I look like a total newbie with luclin graphics on, since Barbed Ringmail looks like banded or very close to it. Not sure how this stuff looks.

I bought my Seb Scale coat for 1.7k on rodcet nife. This was a pretty good deal, but the stuff is out there if you look. Of course the seb scale is not as good as this for Sk, but is better for my cleric. 22ac, 6str, 6wis and some minor saves.

try ac 18 till level 50 then treeweave still at 54 not that great hehe..you are right about the ac and guy under us about the ac bonus is incorrect..the ac bonus as an iksar is not that impressive..this would be a nice addition to the pre planar bp which is very rare..30+ raids finally full greenmist except bp..one bp dropped and was given to a newb iksar with no armor and i was on last piece :(

Don't forget that Iksar get a racial AC bonus, that is why dreadscale is lower AC then the Temple of Solusek Ro stuff.

18 isnt THAT bad i use a crusty BP at lvl 40 and its 19 ac... tho i think i may try for a treeweave or something with a good chunk of ac on it to help out my frail erudite body. I think im going to try for some of this armor, even though the stats aren't all that hot(when your a poor black boy you dont have many choices)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 17 2002 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why play an iksar SK in the first place? especially considering the armor you can wear. still you guys sound pathetic with armor anyway. i use a barbed ringmail i got at 27. im a dark elf and my items i got by the time i was level 30.. uhh like my argent protector and all my other items have over 18 ac except the jewlry and mask. how could you live with disgracing yourself with such crappy items any selfrespecting player would do anyhting to get better

Nice story, but not everyone has a character high enough to twink their 27 DE SK or a guild to Farm this stuff for them. I can afford to twink my SK to a point, but I won't discredit anyone who has less than me and is willing to work for their gear.
