Traded up to this today from a Robe of the Keeper. Liked the sort of greyish-lavenderish color better than the red of the old robe. I payed a lot less than the average price listed here for this as I went to bazaar with only 100PP in my pocket and came away with about 6 INT/mana boosting items for my little gnome necro. Most of what I got was yard sale junk, but when you're playing it the hard way without being twinked, powerlevelled or bankrolled by a rich friend or alt anything is better than nothing.

I was given this item by a very nice twink troll in the Oasis, my kind hearted thanks goes out to you still. I have upgraded alot on my monkie, but not the CCS. For low weight, good ac, and str, it has served me quite well to my mid thirties.
oops I wanted to know what i should upgrade to from ccs? I just reached 20th lvl so DING. and I am looking for upgrades to armour now what is a step up from ccs and when i get it anyone on antonious bayle intrested in getting a ccs?
got one in bazaar for my 23 monk for only 50pp!!! then i got a sap of piety for 50pp!!! and for some reason hes hitting (with cane of tranuil and the SoP) for like 35 and stuff! wierd
What i've found in the Bazaar is that for many items, there'll be a number of folks selling them at the so-called "going" price, and someone else pricing it "to move". In the case of the CCS, i got mine for 50pp, but every other one for sale in the Bazaar that day was going for 200 minimum.

I agree. You can see wild price swings on items. Last night I bought this baby for my new high elf enchanter alt for 15pp. The seller had sent out a note, "All my stuff goes!" and so I sent him a tell offering 15pp for the CCS. He went for it.
I have taken to keeping a spreadsheet of the items I'm looking for, and each time I visit the Bazaar I just do a search and go down the list to see what the current prices are. I also keep a "historic low" price for each item so that I have some sense of what the range can be.
Bottom line is if you have patience, you can usually over the course of a few sessions find something for a decent price.
I was in NFP whena lvl 60 calls out looking for backpacks. I meet him and showed him to the place and then I was leaving when he gave me one of these. luckily I have a good number of cleric friends.

It is a powder blue robe, the shade of blue you often seen associated with baby boys. It has a semi-circular cut out below the knees that shows the wearer's feet and shins.
Allisia Autumnrain of The Archangel Druid of Tunare in the 39th Season Tholuxe Paells
With the Luclin graphics, the robes look different depending on what your race is.. So not everyone will have the circular cut out below the knees, nor will they have a diamond on it.. It is a light blue robe though.. without Luclin graphics turned on the robe has no decorations.
Actually after looking at the fashion pics above I would have to say it's a steel blue-gray color. Some of them look more gray than blue but that may be that persons color settings..

I'm new at this whole Monk thing =o( Whould this be better than the Wu's Fighting Shirt? I mean, the ac is only slightly higher and it has no agi. on it which is our most importatnt stat......right?
Some please give their 2cp worth, I'm kida confused. If the Wu's shirt is better this robe is going to my little cleric i started...she is naked =o)
IMHO I think this is a much better choice for a starting monk that Wu's...aye the ac isnt that much better and it lacks the agi bonus....but the str bonus helps a lot at the lower levels, as do the 2 points of extra ac...the int does help you learn skills faster (I had double attack mastered within 4 levels of gaining the skill, and my 1hb is nothing to sneeze at either :) Basically if ye can get this or have one already, forget the Wus...the weight is not so good ofr monks, but the stats help ye a bunch from the get go...I had one all the way (thanks to a guildy) until recently (thanks to a very kind person) from lvl 1-20...and now I plan on passing it along to my ailing necro :) Gl and hope ye enjoy it...monks are a blast:)
I agree totally - I have this too and have had it from lvl 9, my skills stay maxed or very close to it and it helps a lot with new skills. I do, however, have lightweight other items and can afford the weight (13 stones total). You may not have this choice yet.
only go for about 200 to 300pp on Brell. I traded a fighting baton for mine (since I had a CoT and a Centi Warhammer.) Really cheap. I've seen them sell for 100pp too. I guess we just have a lot of em on our server...

Yep, after deleting an old character, I had an extra CCS too, and I too traded it for a Fighting Baton for my Monkey...since the monk already had a CCS, was a good trade for me! But yes, the value of these things has fallen alot since it is usable by so few classes/races (even WE druids can't wear it!) and so as more have been looted/pharmed, the value just drops and drops.

I love this robe. As a druid, I get begged for SoW quite often, and I just recently gained the ability to port, so this robe plus /roleplay lets me disguise myself quite well. One person thought I was a cleric, and another said I looked like a newbie mage. :) Awesome.
I got the opposite problem. With my skull helmet (executioner's hood) a robe, and a blunt weapon, I often get mistaken for a shaman and begged for SoW. Once someone even gave me clarity, hoping to get SoW in return! The ironic thing is, shamans can't even wear this robe.
Could someone tell people that not every iksar in a robe with a skull hat is a shaman? Could just as easily be a monk, or even a necromancer.

I agree, I'm no Shaman, but I have a Skull Cap, 1HB Blunt Shaded Staff and this robe equipped and I just happne to be a Necromancer! Never been mistaken for a Shaman, but I supppose it can happen.
Just wanted to say this... I've never seen a shaman with a blunt weapon unless he's a newbie. Even then, most of them get rusty spears... I see many druids and clerics where it to hide there identity.

I've seen many... seen some shamans in their 40's with one... just a matter of preference for the shaman, I guess. There are quite a few blunt weapons with good stats for shamans, including the iksar beserker club... a favorite thing to camp in Kurn's (many jester campers have my life in the basement of Kurn's a lot easier when I was in there going for the fingers for the rock schackle).

I traded a fighting baton for this robe. Seeing how some level 53 monk just gave me the baton, I guess I got this for free essentially. Looking at the average selling price of a fighting baton and this robe, I got it for about half the average price. Nice ac for its weight, and the +4 str helps. Nice monk item!

WRONG, wis helps raise ALL skills (if it's higher than your int; if you're int is higher, int controls how fast you raise your skills); inclusing combat skills. Try playing a troll warrior and then a gnome warrior, you'll notice the gnome's skills going up a lot faster.

Actually blacksmithing's stat for upping skills is str (better success) and tailoring is dex (better success). Wis and int play very small roles for those skills (as well as jewelcraft, but not many monks go for that trade, hehe). That aside, no monk or melee class with exceptions to hybrids should ever make a point of getting int/wis gear over a class that uses them for main stats as it will do nothing for them when they should be focusing on sta/str/agi/dex. How would you feel if the wiz got a 25 ac, 10 str/sta/dex tunic over you? :-)
If a monk does want int/wis gear for trade skills because they enjoy doing them, weight won't mean jack to them as it won't be used in combat unless they get jumped at the forge or something. So if you find a 20 weight 10int/wis piece of armor, shove it in the bank and pull it out when you go to practice your skills, otherwise focus on your main stats, hehe.

Wrong. ALL trade skills use the higher of INT/WIS to determine skill raises. However, for smithing it adds in STR (and uses the highest of the three) and for tailoring and fletching it uses the highest of INT/WIS/DEX. Successes are determined solely by skill vs. item difficulty.
Someone with W:80 I:190 S:90 has an identical chance to skill up in smithing as someone with W:80 I:90 S:190. Or someone with W:189 I:189 S:190 for that matter.

OK let me just say that this is a great robe. The bad thing about them is that they're lore ( My cleric got one for free in crystal caverns because they drop so much everyone has one already and can't loot another. That same night me and my monk partner killed the herbalist 5 times and it dropped 4 times, got the pack once. Anyways, we both already had one robe and couldn't loot another so my suggestion to newbies is if you can somehow get to Crystal caverns and sit in there for an hour or two you can probably get one for FREE. 3 people got free shrouds from us because we couldn't loot. I wish they weren't lore ( i'd be so rich. This is on terris thule by the way and these are very common.

you really wanna screw ppl up wear this crystaline webshield and the cha mug down here go roleplay and no more sow begs. btw even when this robe is well know ppl won't bug you because humans are the only ones to wear it so u don't see it often on a druid
Finally got my hands on one of these, thanks to a generous guildmate. Before this, I was using a brown chitin protector (Druid only, yet does NOTHING for wisdom, go fig), and the shroud is a BIG step up for me. Also... until they get more well known, I don't get the 'SoW PlZ' requests every five minutes.
While I do agree that the other druid races shoudl be able to wear them, I can understand Verant's pov as well. Who knows... maybe after they get Luclin going, they'll redo the robe frames for the other races?

One day as a level 15 Cleric I was sitting down in Unrest with invis vs undead watching the trains go buy and this paladin walks up to me and hands me this robe and then runs after the train. It was ugly and I liked my fine steel breatplate alot better so i sold it in Lake of Ill Omen for 700pp on the Rodcet Nife server. It was rather easy to sell.

I sat in the crystal caverns for 6 hours to pick one of these puppies up and sell off to go towards my wurmslayer/skyfire fund. Imagine my surprise when I return to the tunnel to auction it off and get laughed out of the place for trying to sell it at 900pp. I couldn't get an offer over 400pp to save my life. It's certainly better than a foreman's tunic for a druid...if you can wear it. The only druids that can wear it are humans. This is because of the druid races (human, half-elf, wood elf, halfling) only humans have a robe model. Yes, on a human druid it looks like a robe. It's a rather silly reason to make race restrictions on an item, I think. On the other hand humans start with the worst stats for a druid, so I'm not about to complain.
Aaaaah, I was wondering why no Wood Elves. It certainly wasn't a "no small races" restrictions, because Gnomes were on there, and it certainly wasn't a "no good races" restriction because High Elves were on there.
Kind of a weird reason to restrict it, but whatever. Not going to lose sleep over it.

And he answered the question in his first sentence moron.
Iksar SHAMAN can't wear it! It is not a SHAMAN Item, it has nothing to do with the robe limitation on an Iksar.
If anything, the initial question was stupid, not the reply that you bashed.
Tell ya what. Lets let every race and class be able to wear anything in the game. Then we won't have stupid questions, and reply flamers like you .. and to a point me (although I usually don't, I just hate idiots).
This is one of th best robes ive seen. I went to CC at lvl 27, got in a group and this was the second item i ever got from velious (the first being a herbalist pack). Seeing as i had no use for it i gave it to my lvl 7 necro who now has 165 int :)

Okay. I can understand fitting everyone in the category *except* the gnome. Last time I checked, dorfs are bigger than gnomes, yet the are conspicuously missing from this list. Clerics are included, but not Dwarven or Halfling. Necros are included, including gnomes. What is up with this?
____________________________
Jahdin DeMorte 70 Rogue for Hire Shahrazad Guild Bertox Server
so the only basis for dwarves not being able to wear this is because they do not have a cape graphic. hrmm. that des not make much sence as both a high elf and gnomish cleric can wear em, and they are larger and smaller. i don't think whether there is a graphic or not should limit dwarves from wearing this.
And I reacon Woodelves should be able to wear this as well given DRUIDS are suppose to be able to wear yet only race who can be a druid named are humans. I totally agree! Verant needs to come up with some texures for robes for ALL the races or come up with some other texture on none robe wearing classes.
Well woodelve should be able to where it since they have the same wire frames as Dark elves, the females anyway and the males are just smaller human wireframes, if you ask me Verant is just lazy :)
Me and my friend were going to camp the queen and when we zoned in we saw the herbalist so we killed him. Then we were going to get a invis and lev and go down the pit when a nother herbalist spawned! Then after that we had to med and yet ANOTHER herb spawned! and on the way down the pit we heard at least 3 more herbalist's casting spells. all 3 herbs we killed had the packs but unfortunatley for us we bolth already had them. =(
Ilovehotsalsa Verymuch (Iksar Warrior) of Chazic Thule.
I stayed up top as you zone in, i noticed that a miner came close to the top of the caverns near zone, i decided to stay here and try to spawn the herbalist, after killing a miner then a oracle (im lv 39) both blue the next pop was a herbalist, he dropped the shroud and off i went
Um, I hate to tell you, but melee skills are learned through Dex, not Wis. dex does all melee skills, agi does all defensive skills, wis/int (depends on what's higher) do other skills like trade skills and linguistics.
Herbalist can spawn everywhere an orc spawns in Crystal Caverns.
I saw the herbalist myself 6 times myself, 2 times nothing on it, 2 times herbalist pack, 1 time crystal covered shroud, 1 time blackened crystalline shroud. Never saw the shield yet..
HAHA..Talk about whining! Your whining about every one else whining!!!(=) )
This is an open board, if they wanna whine, let em tryst! See what good it does them!!! Hehe.
And BTW, I agree with you..all of the classes have plenty of great items. If we ALL could use EVERYTHING, then what the hell would be the point?? I fyou want to use this item so bad, BUILD A CHARACTER THAT CAN USE IT!!!
The herbalist drops the pack almost everytime. The BCR is a rare drop as well as the schroud which seems to be more rare than the robe. Killed this thing 8 times now and all we got was a pack.
Guess it goes to show ya that there is no fixed cycle of drops...My cleric and a warrior plowed thru these the other night and within an hour and a half we both had an Oracle cloak and a Shroud...BTW that was just three herbs that spawned in that period.
