So far I've killed the retainer once and it dropped: may just be lucky, or maybe it's very common. I didn't see the retainer again in the couple of hours I spent in the area.
My Mage bought one of these at level 8 or 9 for 100pp in the Bazaar, and still has it at 45... I'll probably replace it with the dreamweaver webshield some time in the 50s now that AC and mana are becoming much less useful than INT.

I bought one of these today for my new cleric. I spent a full week at aqua 3 in BBM, seems no one likes aqua 3 so i can get it almost every time. anyway I bought it for 90pp at bazaar on Bristlbane. There were 2 others going for 150 to 200pp so i took a chance i wasnt being ripped. Glad to see capitalism at work.
If one shops the bazaar with an idea of what they want, and are patient, they can look like a twink and not be.

This drops most often on the retainer.. We usually just give them to new guildies that lack a better item. They sell on vazzelle for about 300-400pp.
Seems like i'm on the wrong server, oh well my lvl 11 chanter has one (used by my dru till her high 30's), and they still sell good for 100pp on karana server. Seems like i need to put some more effort in camping CC. :-)
But I must admit giving away to new guildies is certainly a very good thing to do. Wish more ppl were that generous. And that ppl are less begging from uberppl in the guild at the same time. :-)

Isnt the price of that thing a little bit too high? Last nite I traded RyGorr legs to some guy for one of those. Some people in my guild and some friends say I got ripped. Then again, if I look a the price of the legs (approx 800pp) and that thing (1000+pp) did I get ripped? Oh well, I don't really care, but I just would like to know what are the real goin price of those on Xev.

Perfect for me. I had Staff of the wheel but when I got about 220 int I got this instead, Looks cool too. Now I want a simillar one with the same graphics. In the other hand, something to replace stein of maggok. Well almost all from CC is great specially for Wizards, alot of crystalline things u can wear which also have int mod.

This drops off the drachnid (there aren't many there) in crystal caverns. We got one right off the bat, our first time hunting in Velious, but I have a feeling we were just really lucky.

I looted this off of the Queenherself. She also dropped the Messenger at the same time.

These seems to be in the loot tables of all three of the named semi-rares: Retainer, Lurker, and Purifier.
The first one we got of a Purifier and that spider is definately more rare than the retainer and the lurker. Since then we have looted 5 or 6 more all off the other two.

ive seen this drop twice now off a retainer and i currently use one but sadly it doesnt look like a shimmering orb but it looks like the cleric temple of ro sheild(ice cream)

i don't know which webshield you looted but mine looks just like a shimmering orb
mana beets wis if you got 200+ wis, while this may not be the best item for that purpose make sure you take that into account

HMm someone posted this comes off purifier.. Hmmm maybe it does, but I've seen 3 drop so far, and every one dropped off the RETAINER as his rare. The common was some stupid ass sword. The lurker dropped a fang headband or something as his rare and a stupid weapon as his common as well.. I've camped here a total of about 30 hours so far over the past week and have yet to see this purifier ONCE, I'm looking for him because I want his shoes.. But to set the record straight, although this might drop off the purifier as well, it dropped off the retainer 3 time in my prescence. And the retainer seems to be pretty common, the lurker seems rare and the purifier must be REALLY rare..

In a 20hour straight camp i only saw the mob that drops this shield one time. (Drachnid Purifyer). he spawns in the Queen's room, along with the queen, the crystal lurker, and the drachnid retainer, but like i said... 20hours, one purifyer, and the guy who was there before me said that it had spawned at the beginning of his 12 hour camp, and dropped nothing, so good luck on this one guys.

Got one of These off the Drachnid Retainer. Looks like the Drachnids in Dreadlands. 2 Dropped in 3 hours. Not to rare. Good Twink Item or if you're over 200 INT. His Common drop is the Crystallized Sword. He spawns in the Queens room or in the hallway where the spiders are and wonders around for a bit. He's a rnadom spawn and doesn't have a PH that im aware of.

Last night we hunted there for 10 hours or so. We picked up 3 of these so they arent as rare as you think. Perhaps they adjusted the loot tables.
5k is way out of line considering this. Perhaps 500pp is more realistic

It's worth more than 500 PP I think. It's useable by clerics, shamans, and druids. The Shimmering Orb is not. I would say 1,500 PP is more realistic.

1k-500 is about right. It's not the fact that 7 classes can use it, after all, if I'm not one of those 7, it's almost worthless, other than selling it, or twinking one of my characters. But because it's kinda common for the people who can get it, it's worth about 500+, up to 1k.
