[i]Crystalised sword was given to me just last night by a level 40 cleric friend of mine on The Rathe Server. the stats are 29 delay and 11 damage...sounds like a good blade. but am a little confused here. what do you all mean when your talking YAK? and Offhand does that refer to secondary once you can dual wield? Would appreciate any Knowledgable replies. Thanks

Would this be good offhand weapon for a rogue with a Jagged chokidal spine?
11 dmg for your rogue offhand would be good if you couldn't find anything with extra stats on it. I use the jagged chokidal spine in my offhand because of the darkness proc. My 1hs is 156 so if I decide to use a CentiSS or any other 1hs with some extra stats, my 1hs skill is okay.

Pay attention, this one is 11/29 and there are lots of similar named/looking swords as the person below mentioned but this is the one you want till you can afford the sebilis one. I't basically icetooth claws for either hand, a little harder to come by but worth it. The reason this is better is that it dishes out amazing damage but has a low taunt factor since damage comes from it's 11dam value instead of from a low delay value or a proc. Now I'm not talking amazing like warrior epics or jade mace or anything but for weaps in the 500-1k range this is the champ because it will slash circles around a yak for half the price and the best part is that since it has such a low taunt factor it's great for primary hand of bards or rangers or even as an offhand weap for a rogue. In my rogue's offhand it was nuts to watch all that damage come out and not have to worry about getting off the mob's hate list, also experimented with a warrior and a yak, the yak was easily the taunt master, a definite no no to put yak in rogue offhand, especially if you've got decent dex, but the warrior and I both noticed she could hold aggro much easier with the yak even though these two side by side seemed to do about the same damage if you count ykesha procs.
The one I used was a gift from a friend but I've seen them go for around 500 on luclin and terris.

i agree with u, i was born with this weapon in my hand and watching the damage go from 20 at lvl 6 to 50 at lvl 47 makes u proud of it. the weapon doesnt look bad either, look is quite nice if u ask me

I've had this weapon for quite a while, and as a tank, it has served me well. I've been duel wielding it with a BALS, and even as a warrior, I've been able to do a fair amount of soloing, because of it. I just traded my BALS for a Yak, and as far as I can tell, I'm quite a bit better off. With the Yak in my secondary hand, I've been able to tear through most foes. I believe though, that this combination is better reversed. I'm going to put the Yak in my primary hand, and the CS in my secondary. I think I'll be able to continue successfully soloing as a warrior for a bit longer now.

One RL year ago I hunted CC for about 5 RL weeks trying to get this sword. I don't know if the frequency of it's drops has been changed, but i do know the price has dropped. Last summer(2000) it's PC was 800pp.
To follow, there are 4 different 'crystal' 1hs weapons:
1) Crystalline Blade 11/38, All 1hs types. Not worth your time and it doesn't drop in CC. (be careful when trying to buy the Crystal blades or swords from a peep, these all look the same and you can take a bit hit in the bank if ya get them confused.. I did...but at that time the pc was 800 for the Crystallized Sword /bonk Shone) pc- 150ish
2) Crystallized Blade 13/31, SK-only. This is the common drop off of the Drachnid Retainer (DR)pc- 250ish //Sorry Gena, no patch, this has always been called blade//
3) Crystallized Sword 11/29, All 1hs types. This is a rare drop off of a uncommon spawn of the DR in CC. Great mid level sword for the off hand. pc-500ish (I still think it should be 800 because of the off hand capablility and light wt.)
4) Crystalline Short Sword 12/24, All 1hs types. If you don't know the stats on this then you should stick to CC for a while longer. This drops in Sebilis and is a very nice one had slash weapon for 10k.

Win some you lose some, looks like you're winning. Bought one for 100-150 (forget which) sold it for 200, but the buyer had been looking for days, and was auctioning for one, so... I'd say 100-150 is the usual.

I looted this sword off a Drachnid Retainer last night in Crystal Caverns. The sword is clearly a "Crystallized Sword" but has different stats on it than are shown above. It is 13 damage, 31 delay, and only Paladins and Shadowknights can weild it (our group practiced need before greed and the Paladin with a Wurmslayer and a Ghoulbane allowed me to loot it since I would actually use it). It had an "Effect:" property on the item description window, but had no effect specified.
I'm not sure what the issue is, or what the future of the item may be, but if anyone thinks it's worthwhile I could post a screenshot of the item details.

Yaks arent really damage outputting UNTIL the sob can proc, otherwise this I'd rather have, I currently Use this/Yak

this weapon is pretty good for i am still using it at 44, ppl keep saying i should be using a yak in my offhand with my wurmslayer...nahh...i like this sword better...at 174STR and level 44 i hit for 41 damage max with the sword, and 100 with the wurmslayer, taunts on me more the a Yak seems too.....

This is a good weapon to be used with the Icetooth's claws, (11/29, weight 2.0, primary only) and can do a lot of damage through the upper teens to lower 30's.

I am currently dual wielding this sword with the icetooh's claws, and am very happy with the damage output. I have tried dual wielding yaks, and I have to say I'm better off with this combo. Damage is better, and due to a high dex, I was taunting with the yak proc more than I would like. I had thought the proc would be good, but being a ranger, taunting higher lvl MOBS off the warriors and onto me didn't help my cause at all. Kinda defeats the purpose of the warrior takin' the brunt of the damage. Not to mention that I have about 500pp into this combo, vs. the price Yak's go for, I really can't complain.
If you can muster up a decent group, I recommend getting a Blackened Alloy Longsword instead. It drops off of various Pickclaw goblins on level four of Runnyeye. I would guess that a group of level 25 or so players could get one with ease, whereas this...
I had 2 bards in Lake Of Omen offering me both over 1kpp for my Gleaming Short Sword (10/29 +g Charisma). But i could not think of a sword to get with just 1kpp. So i turned them 2 down. I went to East Commonlans C and I auctioned want to trade my sword for a Crystallized Sword, and to my surprise, no one knew what it was. I talked to a barbarian and he said he'd trade it, and I told him that the gleaming sword was very much sought after by bards for its speed and charisma stats and he bought my story. Charisma is gonna do nothing for my paladin in battle whose charisma is already high. So, i got a whole +1 in damage from the upgrade (crystallized sword is 11/29). He even gave me an additional 50pp. Tonite, i shall get me big brother sword, 13/25 or so the seller said, but I cant find that sword anywhere on here... maybe another name. hmm see you in Unrest!

Our group pulled the Drachnid Retainer out of the Queen's room yesterday and this sword dropped off him. Was getting worried that it was no longer dropping in game. Khmer won the random. I've seen at least 3 of everything else in Crystal Caverns drop, including the Cloak of the Ry'gorr Oracle. Very nice to see this sword firsthand.

On Povar these swords are very rare in the auction zones. I regularly see people auctioning to buy one. I think that the people that got them before the drop rate changed are hanging on to them and passing them to twinks and guildies. I was lucky enough to buy one right before the drop rate changed. I was offered 750pp for mine a few days ago, but I didn't sell because I still use it and can't think of anything to replace it with for 750pp. IMHO, it out damages a yak in the offhand.

ummm...I dont know if you noticed or not but the gleaming short sword sucks, I used one when I sold mine and then I then I sold gss and got crystalized sword back..gss isn't a fair trade for crystalized sword...only reason I trade was because I got a gss and 100p.

This is a pretty general question, but I got a character named Llonir on the Tholuxe Paells server currently dual wielding 2 yaks. I was wondering if I would have a higher damage output if I dual wielded 2 of these swords coupled with my new Call of Sky spell (adds 35dd + stun proc to your weapons)

At lvl 39 I'm currently dual wielding this sword and a Icetooth's claw(Was dual wielding Yaks), I can hit double 40 easy with this combo and with the Call of Sky proc I think is better then 2 Yaks.(One double hit of 40 dam=80 dam FAST and Dual Wielding two will hit up to 160 dam in 4 hit easy with enough speed to make an other 4 hit to connect over and over...It is better then waiting for the slow proc to happen.)
But if your DEX is high enough to make the Yaks to proc all the time(non-stop)then I guess the Yaks may be better.
Oh & BTW I use the Yak and claw combo sometime, it is fun to see all the double damage and TWO different proc going of at the same time, but my Yak was only hitting about 32 max doubles.
So if you try this out please come back here and post what you think. I would like to hear your opinion.

It says that Velious is required. I haven't bought Velious yet, I just have Kunark. Can I still use this item w/o buying Velious?

Anyone that has EverQuest can use any item in the game (that their class/race/deity allows) regardless of what expansion packs you have installed. What it means by Velious Only is that you can't Loot/Quest that item as it requires a visit to Velious at some point or another.
...nor can you see the upgraded Velious graphics. I'd guess that w/o Velious textures, this looks like a rusty longsword. With Velious enabled, it looks identical to A Servant's Blade from Befallen or one of the lesser Velium Warswords from DN. Gold hilt and a translucent blade, quite nice looking.

I reciently replaced my SSYK with the Crystalized Sword, and am whole-heartedly impressed! While it is a tad slower, my over all damage seems to have improved greatly. If you still have your Yak (espessally if your under 37!) I highly recomend you upgrade to this sword!

I have a pair of yaks, (borrowed) I tried them at 37 and during a combat they proc'ed 4 times on average, resisted once usually. The avg damage is around 21 points per hit with yaks, while my 11/29 avg something like 29 or so as high as 41 (at 37th) with an avg of 50 hits on a single mob thats an extra 400 pts of damage, do the math .. 225 .... 400 hmmm..
I am giving back the Yaks!
I also recently got a hold of a kunzarkujich, I fell in love with this weapon I got it for Gauntlets of the black, 700p and chitin shell shield! and I KNOW i got a damn fine deal!!!!
so the icetooths claws are being hung up on da rack.

It seems that this sword no longer drops in some servers while in the others its a regular drop. The reason behind this is that in some servers people were getting their hands on this swords for laughable amounts of money (50pp somebody once said), this de estabilizes the server economy, while in others the standard price tag is 500, which prevents lover lvl chars from getting one so easy

ssoy doesn't proc till 37 and from what i heard
its not long before it starts getting resisted alot... It goes for 750pp to 1500pp on my server.
I've never seen the c sword up for auction. But, I would expect to pay in the 400 to 800pp range.
As warrior I'd never use this in the main hand but off, it would be pretty nice.

I've never seen the c sword up for auction. But, I would expect to pay in the 400 to 800pp range.
As warrior I'd never use this in the main hand but off, it would be pretty nice.

I have just spent a week inside CC and from what i have experianced ad so many others it seems that the sword no longer drops there are only 2 swords that drop in CC now the messanger of the queen PALLY only and the crystallized blade a pally SK weapon only

He's dead right. This sword has not been dropping for almost a month now. I don't blame them for taking it off the loot table, it was kind of ridiculous having these things falling into low level characters hands for 200-300pp because of how common they were. Still an awesome sword, hang onto yours if you have one because in a few months you won't be seeing these around too much.
Only sword retainer drops now is the Crystallized Blade.
As far as price goes I would put this at 800-1000pp. That is the bare minimum. I mean it no longer drops and has a better ratio than a Yak, which still drops and sells for 1000 to 1500pp.

About a month? I got one 2 weeks ago or so, gave it to someone else in the group because its primary only and I wasn't about to give up my Wurmslayer.

I have a pair of these, I play on Lanys T'Vyl. I get so many tells from people who want to buy them. I payed 600pp for each sword. One time some poor guy offered 300pp for one (even though I told him how much I payed for it, and another offered 1k for both).

Same damage to delay ratio but can be used in your off hand, imho this makes it worth more.

But it's 2wt heavier. I want one of each, that way it's only 6wt total instead of 8wt. That and claws look better on a ranger, heh.

If someone is willing to cut me a real good deal on one I would like to buy one very much. It just seems that the asking price is a little high on these. Sure 11/29 is way cool but there are no stat mods and no proc. Still as a Ranger this weapon would serve me well through my 30's and I am willing to pay for it up to 250pp. If someone is willing to help me out I can be found on the Seventh Hammer, or vist my Guilds web site at www.eqwolf.com and post to me on our trading section. Keep in mind I know you could prob sell it for more but I asking for a deal I would even travle to Velious and help get it and pay 100pp just for the assistance.

Considering it's Rarity, the Fact, that the Place where it drops is most times camped due to the Queen, the spiffy look and beeing not lore 500pp doesn't seem to high. At least currently :)

Ranger, Dual wield, double attack. Lev 21. For the price, and considering my level, nothing beats doing so much damage so fast. I intend on getting to lev 35 with this combo, unless someting else pops up.

You want to be 33 or 34 at least. A party full of 25 to 30 level would be frequently toasted in there.
Nice sword, and I plan to keep trying to get one to drop for me. I'd have to disagree about being better than the SSOY, though. If your Yak procs just once every 105 seconds (one and three-quarters MINUTES of combat), it makes up the difference in the damage rating.
I still don't have a yak, either, but I'd wager when I do it will proc more than every two minutes.
Just my two coppers.

Just a note, you are wrong about th party not lasting/being toasted, etc.
I was in a party, around 25-30, with.. I don't remember how many of us, but the only time we died (any of us, in fact) was when someone trained us.
We, of course, did not go all the way in, and just along the tunnels, till we found freq. spawns of reds, and gained quite nicely. :)
Stupid people decided they need to train to lower levels, though, so we moved outside and kited some giants for a while, which was also fun. ;)

The Crystalline Blade was worth 450pp back in it's day, and this weapon is MUCH better...?
I'd have expected this to sell for more in the area of 1000pp. Are these things dropping like snowflakes in Velious? or is it that the players who are able to acquire them have much better stuff, and so are selling them dirt cheap? Anybody know?

I would say it is a little of both. There are a lot of people moving up in levels lately, and this means there have been a lot of treasure hunters. Combine this with what seems to be 2 whole continents of nice goodies (velious and kunark) and you get a glut.
To give an example: Orc Fang Earrings. I picked up 2 for about 200PP. A year ago this item would have probably cost 3 times that. Another example: The PGT. I remember when they sold for a very high 250PP (in my opinion anyway). Now you can scarf one up for about 100PP. Finally: Look at wurnslayers. At the beginning you were looking at 10K. Now maybe 6K or so. Big change.
In conclusion, I think Verant may have went a little overboard with velious and kunark to combat what was a shortage of mid level and high level goodies dropping off of spawns. It is true that these items are still a little hard to get, but not nearly as bad as it used to be when you were paying 1K for ro armor and 3K for a SSOY. Also, with
more grouping and incentives to group, the loot is flowing to lower level characters.
The solution may be to add or modify some items to make them no drop or to reduce the number of items dropped.
Just my opinion.

I find it funny that people complain when "high level" items end up on low level players....yet they are the first to whine when something is instituted to prevent high level players from farming out low level dungeons....

Just got this for my lvl 21 ranger for 200PP! Man, I don't know how I lived without one of these. This combined with a whip of strangulation as a secondary make for a very nasty combo (as the proc goes off a lot).
