i spent 30min killing most Ry'Gorr almost to bottom. The Oracle that had the cloak seemed to have more mana then the others, because he casts more spells. hope this helps ).
Found one...

Some fool kitty BL couldn't wait for me to get back to his location to invis him, he and his pet killed off a mess of these Ry'Gorr's and left them littering the ground. So being a good Druid I cleaned them up and got this for my troubles.

Good Deeds do get Rewards :-)

I have never seen this drop off an Oracle in EW although it may. It definately frops off a RyGorr Oracle in CC though. I got one there in an experience group 30 35, a long time ago. These Oracles are way easier than the ones above in EW that Gate on you if you don't get in a good nuke on em at the end.

Depends on what you're doing. If you want to solo/tank blue warriors then you'll want to max your AC. If you want to solo casters, you'll want the resists. If you are going to be fighting casters anything uber which certainly will have AE spells, you'll want the resists. Unless you are a real tank, in which case you'll want the AC. =)
Rare
# Oct 03 2001 at 3:49 PM Rating: Decent
I have been hunting in CC for a very long time and this is a rare to rare uncommon drop I have only seen 2 in the time I have been here.
RE: Rare
# Nov 21 2002 at 6:50 AM Rating: Decent
Plrenty of Oracles killed last night, and saw it dropping twice. Too bad it's lore and i was solo. Well a shout made sure it did not get lost. So no it's no fixed drop but considering the amount i experienced i would sau it's uncommon. Or maybe it was just plain stupid luck getting it twice. Would have liked it a lot better is MR was 10 and CR was 5, but still a nice item to keep for some occasions or for a little profit in bazaar. :-)
Anyway roaming CC is despite the lack of exp (just a tiny bit on the watchmen and a bit more on the terrors) a nice place to roam for a dru 44.
loading bank with velium and gating back makes it quite a profittabe place while my guildies get lucky with some equipment drops. :-)

This cloak was obviously meant for casters, but I wear one on my monk. Why? Because it is the best AC/resist cloak I have ever had and by enough of a margin to make it worth wearing a two pound item. I am level 51 by the way.

I must have got lucky when I got mine. I have not seen many drop. I also think that the level needed to attain is to high. I got mine around the early 30's. I got it when I was in a group of 4(with a lucky roll of course). I must say however, I have not yet found myself a better back item. Being a SK I do enjoy the extra mana that I do get from having it on. Good luck to you all hunting for it, I would recommend it.
RE: Not a bad cloak
# Feb 13 2002 at 1:30 PM Rating: Default
What do you mean the lvl to attain is too high? And do you think a lvl 45 should be able to solo a dragon? This is perhaps the best of all the rygorr drops, and it is on the lowest lvl mob. All the rygorr drops are, if anything, too easy to attain. They are better than the class specific armor for all useable classes (except maybe warriors for the ac that crafted gives). The fact that a player in the mid 30s can get one of these to drop in CC while exping for one day is amazing. Perhaps you do not realize how good this cloak really is? Anyways, sorry to be so confrontational, just my oppinion

He said the level to attain is too high, if you look at the top, it shows level to attain as 39. He got it in low 30s as did I. So level to attain should be around 30, not 39.

Effect of Clarity
# Jun 04 2001 at 3:51 PM Rating: Decent
There have been reports of an undocumented Clarity effect on this cloak. I *don't* have one, but a friend of mine has done timed tests and believes there was a significant difference in mana regen between wearing and not wearing this cloak. It is hard to get precise tests because there are no numbers for mana, but there are ways of getting really good tests. He only tested because a couple of other people had mentioned it to him. Please post if you have noticed this effect.

I also have not noticed any difference wearing this cloak. I doubt it has any mana regen components on it.

Given the difficulty of getting an item with even Flowing Thought I (mana regen +1/tick) I highly doubt it. Several drop off the new Cazic-Thule, and one can be obtained through a series of quests that requires mastering six of the seven trade skills, for example. Flowing thought II, III, and IV are even more rare, and I don't think anyone has found above IV yet, though I could be wrong about that. Clarity from the mid-30's on gives mana regen +7/tick. If there's an equivalent Flowing Thought VII item out there, it's NOT going to come from the crystal caverns.
In any case, I certainly haven't noticed any difference when wearing this cloak.

I've spent the last two to three weeks (probably 30 or so hours) in CC and have yet to see this drop.

I have killed several Oracles and they're pretty stingy about giving it up.

And yes...I HAVE been trying.

Stats on the kunzar are pretty much the same. This one grants 10sv Cold where the kunzar is sv Fire. This one also grants 10 extra mana. The problem with this one is the weight. It weighs 2 whereas the kunzar cloak weighs only .1

IMO this cloak is better than the Kunzar, but then I'm heavily influenced by the fact my character is human, and therefore can't wear the kunzar.

You certainly have profen that you can read ...

i as shaman would certainly prefer the RyGorr Cloak if id had both, (and would be able to wear both, which i cannot)
In normal cases the weight difference of ~2 doesnt count. Wis is the same, AC is 1 less but i would take the extra 10 mana and the svMagic as reason to take this one.
But i´ve spend a lot of time in CC the past levels and i only found 2 of them (i looted 7 BCR and countless other robes just to give an example ..) ... so i would think this things a real rare item, the kunzar cloak is NOT rare, more uncommon and the difference is NOT worth countless hours of camping if you dont need anything else out of this zone (like velium .... )

What oracles and where?

IN Ew by which camp? and if in CC is it off any oracle in there?? IM lvl 55 pally and want one for my rl friend starting so.....
RE: What oracles and where?
# Jun 25 2001 at 10:03 AM Rating: Decent
i would say that it would be the oracles in the mines in cc. i have killed the one in the rygorr fort countless times for no drops at all /cry. at least 50-60 times with absolutely nothing to show except during 8th coldain insignia ring battle. and even then, when all the mobs during battle drop their rare drops, he doesnt drop cloak, just oracle shield. so i say oracle in cc.

Arf, Only oracle shield? Of course that cloak is a nice item, I wish I could get one, but alas, no luck yet. (Of course I was in CC) And I could use that shield as well.

Frankly, I am in the often-drop camp: As soon as I get one, I sell it. I have seen these drop at least 10-15 times already, and have gone through 3 so far of my own, and am wearing a 4th. Sells from 900-1.2kpp on Quellious.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 04 2001 at 3:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) BTW I am a pimply faced 12 year old who whacks off 10 times a day. And you know what? I think about my sister alot... so my fourth robe gets washed alot. Doesn't 10-15 sound like alot? Now that school started I cant play all day and nite :( Gosh I hate school.... They always pants me in gym class, and 1 time they put a bat where it didnt belong. But thats ok I was out of school for week. but it was hard to play EQ standing up ...
Lvl to attain is too high
# Apr 10 2001 at 7:58 AM Rating: Default
The level to attain for this cloak is way too high. Groups can start forming in crystal caverns as early as lvl 30 and kill oracles. Solo you can kill them in your early to mid 30s.

I solo'd an oracle last night at 32 and got this cloak. I still had 2 bubs of life left when he turned to run, too. Of course, i did have a couple good runs in that fight where it seemed i couldn't miss and he couldn't hit but all the same....i beat him myself at 32. 39 seems WAYZ too high.

Now, the herbalist came along not too long after and promptly kicked me **** but that fight didn't go as smoothly, obviously. :)

395pp? Yeah right... This item is rare, and good for mid-levels. Actually it is really good.
RE: Price
# Feb 03 2001 at 9:31 AM Rating: Default
The pricing here is way out of control. This item is basically the exact same as a Kunzar Cloak, which lists for 415pp... it even has 1 less AC!

And no, it's not that rare. If you can't get one ever hour or two... then you're not trying.

Angel, don't be goofy, you failed to mention the +10 mana... To translate that... 5 int/wis is the equivalent of your level's worth in mana. Thus if this item is on a level 10 charcter it's worth effectively 5 int/wis, if it's on a level 50 it's worth 1 int/wis (on top of the 2 int/wis it's already had added) For that alone this item is far better than the kunzar cloak, as mana is usually why one pushes int/wis high anyway.... and by the time you are hunting this stuff your int is nearing it's max. This item is really a must have for caster's that can't get the mystic cloak.

Not to mention the +5 MR. Just wait until you start dueling someone, or if you're in a guildwar... And if you're on a PvP server, jesus. This item is insanely nice, and easily worth a K. Unlike the kunzar cloak this is all/all, including the bigs, smalls, the in betweens. Meaning there's a huge market resale for it. I sold mine in less than 10 minutes on an older server (Where nothing sells for under 30K in less than a few hours), time is money after all, thus making it even more valuable.

Good item.
RE: Price
# Apr 10 2001 at 1:05 AM Rating: Default
Well, the Kunzar cloak is +10 fire, this cloak is +10 cold, with the added bonus of +10 mana and +5 mag res. Seems a fair tradeoff for 1 point of AC to me.
RE: Price
# Feb 23 2001 at 11:30 AM Rating: Default
Yeeeeah right. I was in CC for 4 hours last night, and we killed the oracle probably 10-12 times, and the cloak dropped on the last one. I have seen others say that they've killed 3 or 4 times that many, and have never even seen a cloak. Not trying? You're either lucky, or you have a sensor in your head that tells you where the oracle with the cloak has just spawned.
RE: Price
# Feb 24 2001 at 12:32 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, I've spent probably 15 hours in CC and killed at least 50 oracles, but only seen this item drop twice (and I lost the roll both times)

Humans cant wear the kunzar cloak either.
RE: Price
# Mar 02 2001 at 3:42 PM Rating: Default
The thing to note though is that rarity really doesnt mean that something is more valuable. If there is an item of relatively equal stats that is more available, who cares if this doesnt drop that much. It wont be worth any more because of that
RE: Price
# Mar 07 2001 at 2:41 PM Rating: Default
This cloak is actually quite rare-uncommon. I've been hunting in Crystal Caverns since lvl 29 and I'm near 38 now. I've seen it drop probably 7 times during the course of that time and the parties I've been in. (And I've been in very good parties so it's not a matter of not trying.) The item is quite nice for a non-twinked 30's character. I'm just glad they are making nicer loot drop for lower level character's in Velious now instead of having to buy your gear from the omni crack smoking farmers. ;)
RE: Price
# Aug 25 2001 at 11:41 PM Rating: Decent
nice trick with the latin =). I'm still a little low lvl'd with my 2 mains (i know what you're thinking, 1 main is possible, 2 isn't) but i would think that even though i am fairly twinked out i would love to get my hands on one of these. If it is rare-uncommon then i can understand some frustration and i think that you have a great name for those ******* farmers =). GL, and i hope no1 rates this post too low =(.
RE: Price
# Mar 09 2001 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
I killed 1 Oracle, and got the cloak. Perhaps I got lucky... but level to attain 39? Hardly. I soloed it at 31 (necro).

Been hunting in CC for 5 days now and have yet to see this drop. I've killed 40 - 50 oracles. Seems to be pretty rare. I've got my BCR so no worries :)
