I know 7th is known for its screwy economy, but with the release of PoP and on, these "newbie" robes as they've been dubbed have pretty much universially dropped to a price of 50-30pp. This, crystalline robes, Advisor robes, robes of the oracle are now so blatently cheap it makes me twinge to remember how much I paid for mine back in 2001. For a caster now to get what I was wearing at lvl 40 now in the bazaar would take probably around 200pp. Plus with the new caster made robes you can get some good midgrade for what I paid for a crystalline robe. Just watch out, that step from caster made to 50+ nice drop or no drop robes will make your guild or your wallet bleed.

Just got one of these on Zebuxoruk for 300pp (which appears to be the fair and going price as of late).
Great robe with great stats for the price. My next robe upgrade will be to the Froglok Bonecaster's Robe (FBR) which goes for around 3k.
The INT is very nice for a robe and the 10 svc will come in handy hunting in Velious (or duelling that nasty Shaman).
My mage is the character that has this and with his own personal buffs and elemental protection items, this 10 svc really adds up.
I highly recommend this for anyone who can wear it and doesn't have the 3k or more to spend. You'll get alot of use for it before you find the need to upgrade and spend the plat.
yes very nice robe indeed, was just passing the herbalist by, didn't notice he was even there initially. It's not a tough mob, saw he was a caster, just rooted him and casted drifting death, drones of doom and immolae on him and prepared for another session. I thought he would heal himself several times, but he did not even do that. When looting i found this nice robe. Wich i gave a way to a new chanter in the guild since it does not fit on any of my chars. But all i actually wanted to say, that the guy is as tough as an oracle. if you can handle an oracle don't expect any probs with this guy. Getting there will be the biggest pain.
Additional info: Killed him now 5 times got him drop 3 robes and 2 weight reducing backpacks.
Hi all yesterday evening i have buyit this robe the robe is Black on me with a light green shimmering. I dont know what colors he has when its on a Wizzi or an Magician (I am an Enchanter).
On a Dark Elf, this robe is black, and has a pair or teal green (kinda) stripes down the front. It never looks red when worn.
If you see someone in a red robe, it is most likely a robe of the keeper, an ac7 2int newbyish robe, which looks kind of nice, so some people may wear it even when it is kind of underpowered for their level. Also, to the chanter above, class has no effect on robe graphic, only race.
Just got finished camping the Terror room. We looted two BCRs in a matter of an hour plus plenty of amulets, and Froststone Stien. They are just one int better then the Advisor's robe minus the 5 vs magic and 2 agi.
If this item truly drops off the Herbalist than it doesn't JUST drop off him. Some friends and I camped the Tentacle Terror room in CC for about 14 hours. In that time we had obtained 3 of the SK swords, 1 Froststone Stein, 2 CCSs, and 1 BCR. I see no mention here about the BCR coming from anywhere other than the Herbie but I assure you I was no where near any orcs when we got this. Just wondering thanks...

I have seen the blackened crystallined robe go fo 200pp in East commons befor but that was just me no one else know how much it was a the time so my sister bought it and sold it for 800pp and now she is back for another one.
Ever so often I see the age old and disporved myth that wisdom is necessary for trade skills and helps with success or failure. Unless you are a class that uses wisdom as the base for your mana, wisdom is completely irrelevant for trade skills. I played an ENC to 53 and was at 214 JC. My wisdom sucked and I never had any wis gear for JC. I spoke with several other high level ENCs for JC and all confirmed that wisdom is irrelevant. Moreover, Abashi, a while back, confirmed that it was irrelevant. Just to clear things up from personal experience, other's testimony, and Abashi.....wisdom has no effect on trade skills unless you are a say a Druid, where wisdom is the basis for your mana.
Actually, the mana thing is irrelevant. If you got mana from wis, but happened to have higher int, int would determine skillup rate. Of course, that is highly unlikely to happen. However, if you were say, a pally with low wis, and had an int caster friend with a stein of maggok and some int rings/earrings that they were willing to loan you (or you had an alt), you would still benefit from the high intelligence for skilling up. Same for an int caster with high wisdom (same example but with sk, and a cleric friend). I use the hybrids as examples because they would be more likely to have lower wis/int, because they need melee stats also.
Well, that's mostly true. Wisdom is irrelevant for your tradeskills, if your intelligence is higher than your wisdom. But if your wisdom is higher than intelligence, it's your intelligence that is irrelevant. It's either your wisdom or your intelligence, whichever is higher, that effects how fast your tradeskills go up. Also, strength adds a bit of a bonus to raising smithing, and dexterity adds a bit of a bonus to tailoring and fletching.
P.S. Your wisdom or intelligence never has anything to do with your success/failure at attempting to create an item using your tradeskill. Your wis/int (whichever is higher) effects your chances of improving your skill when you combine your ingredients, but it's only your current skill level in that trade skill that effects your chance of success in the combine.

It would be helpful for price comparison on a server by server basis, to inform us of what server you are on?
I too, was extremely surprised when I have asked for a Pc on this item [Black Crystalline Robe], to be reguarly told in Ec that it sells for around 400-500pp.
However, it must be said that Ayonae Ro has a reputation for twinkage -- merely a comment, not a judgement.

Posted:Sep 11 2001 at 5:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hi, Gallowbraid here from Bristlebane...I have been hunting in CC for about 2 weeks now and have two of the three robes that drop there. Unfortunaltely I do not have this one. If anyone is interested in trading this robe for a Crystalline Robe please send me a tell, I have a friend in RL that plays a chanter and this robe would be perfect for him. Thanks =)
I've been down in CC for awhile, camping the Queen and the Terror Hall and once in a great while, the Ry'gor Orcs. Now all through my travels, I have only see this robe drop off the 'Life Leech' Never, never off an Orc, But stranger things have happen...I too killed a Life Leech in that spawn spot as well as a 'Hollow Crystal' which dropped a 'Frostone Stein'... It is safe to say that the spot at the beginning of the Geo Mine is a Random Terror Spawn. All Terrors can Spawn there...

Just to confirm, I was in roughly the same area, but not camping the Queen, just the Terrors, and this thing dropped like 3 kills after I got there. Apparently it dropped before I got there too in the same place. Looks to me like it a random, or pseudo-random basis. It's perfect fer me, being a chanter and all....
There have been 3 seperate occasions when I have seen this robe [BCR] being sold in East Commonlands for between 400-500pp.
I would say that perhaps I have been *fortunate* but prices for caster robes have tumbled on my server:
SMR = 3k Crystalline = 1k
Although the Oracle is steady at 400pp.
Judging by the stats, this robe [BCR] is strictly a chanter robe, as I would get the oracle if I was another INT caster class (for the same price range).
My mage would rather have the Advisor robe's 5int 20mana than this overpriced robe. They're going for 300-600pp on 7th hammer, as opposed to a 2-3k BCR.
No thsi is much better. at higher lvls the 20+ mana will do nothing for you so the extra Intellegnce is pretty nice evn if it is only 1. plus this raises your cold and charisma.
Actually, the prievious poster is right, and you are mistaken. At higher levels, mana is far better than intelligence, once the 200int softcap is hit. After that point, 1 int is only 1 mana. Even before that level, 20 mana is still better than 1 int. At level 60, 1 int is 12 mana, and only 6 mana at level 30. If it were for a chanter, the Charisma would be an important factor, but for a mage, not so much. The save cold is the real deciding factor.
Really, the two robes are about equal, but have different strengths. IMHO

not a critisism about the point but why do people spell stupid st00pid 1. it takes more letters 2. it looks "st00pid" lol 3. you could just as easily say stoopid if you wanted too. People are so wierd sometimes, but i guess everybody is a bit.

I had some guy randomly give my Mage on Terris-Thule this robe for free when I was in CB. Loved the look more than anything else, but the stats were good too. To make a long story short, after a bit, someone came up to me and offered me an Eye of Melnor for the robe. I turned him down. He didn't want to quit, and he offered me a Frozen Mantle and the robes off his back (Robe of the Oracle). So I agreed. Anyone out there think I got ripped off quality wise? It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I hate the look of the Oracle compared to the BCR.
In terms of stats useful to you, the trade wasn't so bad. The +mana from the robe of the oracle will be nice once you get Int maxxed. However, from a plat perspective, he got the better deal. Eye =1kpp (why did you want it? wis doesn't help a mage), robe of oracle= 500pp, frozen mantle =50pp. BCR 3Kpp+ The math favors him greatly.
I dunno about the other servers, but these things are very sought after on VZ. They normally go for 5k, but the lowest I have seen them is 3k. On VZ, Velious isnt nearly as crowded as Kunark, so I guess they worth more simply because not as many higher lvl people are farming them...thus the ones who do get them can easily sell to a lower lvl chanter for atleast 3k. And, I dont care what ya say, these things look HOT!!!
I was in Great Divide getting my arse kicked by giants so I decided to go back to CC as a goof and "camp " the herbalist. I ran there and met a 52 ranger who was hanging out and we were just chit chatting not getting any experience from the miners or most of the watchman. I started doing some emotes about me drooling for the robe and praying to Tunare hehe , the herbalist popped right next to my pet and he dropped very fast. The ranger let me have the robe and I was one very happy puppy, all done in 20 minutes. Later another herbalist dropped the ccs and an oracle dropped cloak of Rygor Oracle ( which I also kept, better than woven hehe ) . Not too bad 2 nice pieces in 1 hour . Easy to solo as an Enchanter lvl 40 .

I got mine last night on the Zeb server in less then 10 seconds. Zoned in, Leved up, and floated right down on top of the herbalist. BAM, dead and wham, got the robe. We killed a few more and got the shroud as well and 3 more robes for our guild casters. Might be a good thing to bring a tracker along just so you know this guy is in zone, without one, your gonna be in there a long time and depending on your lvl, you might not want to be in there that long.
i am one of those trackers. it sux cuz everyone says - "hey kal is the herbie on track?" and then it is and they say "go get it!" what they dont understand is that there are about 10 levels in the pit and track doesnt say up or down! then when i do find the herbie, then i tell em that id train a ton of orcs back if i pull the herbie and they say "we can take em!" and then the group dies.
Today was my first day in CC (armon, 35 enc on tribunal) and we were fighting by the bridge. Two hours ago the puller came back with a life leech and it dropped the robe. It was around level 37-38. I won the robe with a roll of 99 and am one happy enchanter even though I died 15 min later.
Everyone's running around saying this item is so common and will sell for 1K at the most. All I know is on The Tribunal it is not common at all. At like 4:00 am EST me and a friend of mine were the only two in the zone. We're both level 45 so the Ry'gorr posed no threat, we just wanted some loot. We were only two in zone for several hours and we killed I'd say around 50 herbalists while playing 24 hours straight, and we only got 2 of these robes, one for each of us. It appears herbalists common is Herbalist Pack, next they will drop the Crystal Covered Shroud, then the Crystalline Robe, then the Blackened Crystalline Robe. You guys can say this item is common all you want, but you are wrong, and it's awesome for an enchanter. I'd say it's worth 5K.
Well I traded my Blackened Crystalline Robe for a Crystalline Eye, traded the Crystalline Eye for a Velium Diamond Wedding Ring (+8 vs all resists), and sold that +1k for a Wu Stick (worth 5k)
