Is the Flawless diamond still the gem needed? I heard they changed the quest gem for the BP.
A tougher place to get BP Gemmies
# Nov 06 2002 at 3:48 PM Rating: Good
On a almost trivial sidenote, another wonderful place to get BP gemmies is in the Sleeper's Tomb. Sadly though, by the time you are hunting in ST, more than likly, you no longer need the gem . :-(

However, the guilds that do raid here often sell gemmies found here to help defray the cost of Peridots and other expendible gemmies. Look for their vendours in the bazaar

Best place to get these is the siren enticers in sirens grotto. Just take care not to aggro the nearby elemental. The enticer only hits for around 60 to 70, but is an enchanter so you get charmed and what not. Buff up magic resist. You should get one flawless diamond about every 2 hours of hunting plus other gems like the pristine emerald. You can either hold out for the flawless diamond or just accumulate all the gems and buy your left over flawless in the bazaar.

siren is gimp. Hardest part is getting to her camp. Sea horses dont follow you out of the water though so you just have to make it there. Easiest way is to succor accross the zone and then swim down the tube.

In Velk's Lab, if you look under bestiary in Illia's Bestiary. If you click on the Crystal Fang you'll see that it has been known to drop the Flawless Diamond. Here are a few more mobs known to drop the gem: Velium Stalker, Crystal Shard, Crystalline Hunter, and so on. For levels, pretty high. Go and find out if you want. Hope ppl will stop being so darn rude now. And wish everyone luck in getting this gem. :P

Just fyi I have 3 flawless diamonds and obtained all of these in Velks Lab in Velious doing the Broodmother camp every day for a week.. Approximately 2 - 3 would drop every day in that camp and generally you have 2 - 3 melee in group so all works well. This camp is a 55+ camp and you NEED a 59+ puller to survive as the spiders there hit well in the 200's which aint 2 bad once slowed but will drop the puller in no time with 2 or more.

I have also been hunting in Sirens grotto a bit lately and seen a few drop there off random mobs and been told they are more common in SG than in Velks..

Have a full set of gems now, time to hit ToV for a few weeks strait..

Good Luck

i think it was bugged loot tables causing flawless diamonds to drop in some of the places mentioned here. Bugs which are fixed now i think... only place i've seen them drop is velketor's labyrinth, siren's grotteo, dragon necropolis, and possibly in icewell keep (below the castle in the well)

Leveling in CS off otters I never saw any BP gems drop from anything in the zone. You have to go to a Velious dungeon to get the bp gems. Saw plenty of "imperfect diamonds" and the like. Course they prolly nerfed it since then.

Well for everyone that is looking for Flawless Diamonds. I know that they do drop in Kael Drakkel too. If that helps. I was there, and I was not hunting yet. Anyways my friend came running to me and told me that he got diamonds (flawless) ones. So he went back and got 3 Diamonds in about 3 1'2 hours. Off of the giants

For those of you that are mystified as to the abbreviations that this individual is using, they stand for: DN=DRAGON NECROPOLIS, SG= SIRENS GROTTO, ST=SLEEPERS TOMB, IK=ICEWELL KEEP, KD=KAEL DRAKKEL(not sure I spelled that right).

If you dont know that abbreviations, thats ok, you probably still need the information and the items. As to which mobs drops which gems, as always, the tougher they are, the better the gem they are likely to drop. If my aging memory can recall this corrsctly the gems are random drops from any 45+ mob in velious and some other parts of Norrath.

Theres all the info I know on the subject, feel free to give me a tell in game with any questions you may have I play on Povar. Unlike the swine that started this post I am responding too, as you can see, I dont post anon and Garetjax is my character's name.

Ok so the flawless diamond drops in different places right?.So where would the easiest place to get it?any suggestions? My guild is lvls 20+-50+.
RE: Where does the flawless diamond drop?
# Jun 15 2001 at 10:06 AM Rating: Default
well fyi the place you get these the easiest are always the places where the drop rate is most rare

you can get questgems off Wyvern in CS (no faction loss and easy) but the drop rate there is awefull OR you go to IWK where you need at least 2 good groups, with a nice drop rate there on most gems, OR you go to DN or WW where you need a raid-like setup.

Basicaly Gems drop of most mobs lvl 45+ all over Velious, the harder the zone, the better and more frequent the gems. btw with better i mean the part it goes for with wrist prolly the easiest and chest the toughest part.

Flawless Diamonds are extremly rare drops in the easier places and IWK is considered easy for that.
For all other gems, spiked suits in WL do have a fairly nice drop rate (and thus are obviously ever-camped) and can be done pretty easy with a group around 50. (great exp as well ;o)

thanks for listening

Also, anyone have any facts about the Corroded Breastplate?
RE: Just the Facts?
# Jan 29 2001 at 4:56 AM Rating: Default
yes. I have the corroded breastplate. It was a relatively rare drop in Kael in the arena area. I am a level 60 ogre warrior. I have asked around at least a million times trying to find the gems with absolutely no luck though. I hear that the flawless diamonds are from siren's grotto. My guild is the strongest guild on my server and, even they are reluctant and afraid to go hunt in sirens grotto because the zone is so difficult. So basically this quest seems like ******** and im angry that i even got my hopes up after gettin the corroded breastplate.

Some of the Gems are dropped in the POF (Plane of Fear) and such other areas. I also think I saw gems in the Hole and Kedge Keep. So your looking to get the gems at around 45th level or so, unless you get your guild or friends to help you out.

Still looking for Marble.

The Flawless Diamond drops in Siren's Grotto a zone full of unmezzable mobs with 15k+ hp that hit for up to 200 damage and nearly always pull in mulitples. We have 1 in the guild. Corroded BP dropped for us also on a Kael raid. We were killing the extremely high level giants by the Temple of Rallos Zek. Siren's Grotto the diamond dropped right by the zone in. I think the basic tables are thus...
XXX-A Zone Drops this gem off level 50-55 mobs
XXX-B Zone Drops this gem off level 55-60 mobs
Risk/Reward...Siren's Grotto and Dragon Necropolis are worth incredibly rediculous amounts of exp...thus the parts for the armor are going to drop there. Be warned, the only way to get a group through Siren's alive is with the group Abscond/Succor spells. Fighting is futile in that zone for one group, you want 3-4 to make a dent, and even then each group would be holding a mob a piece...very tough zone. DN has these fun spawn traps...step on the wrong spot and OOPS! 6 mobs spawn on your part 55 plus beating the snot out of the one that stepped on trap...

Have fun...but hey! To be very honest I can't wait to go over to these zones, and I'm 60, just a matter of when our "deathgroup" starts out that way again =)

Have you Concured Lower Guk? SoV is a 45+ expantion. yes there are blue con mobs to even a 31. But I think that is just a teaser. Every dunguen I ahve seen there so far have been mean and even even to red cons to 50+ folks. Look at West Wastelands just about everything there is red con at 50. Lets see some high lvls do some of these quests and see if this armor is better then the Kunark high end stuff before a bunch of N00bs start downing some great quest armor
RE: SoV and Lvl
# Dec 29 2000 at 5:50 PM Rating: Default
SoV is great exp from about 35 plus, not 45 plus, u can just go to east wastes and iceclad till 45, then you can go to your allmighty dungeons and get some phat stuff
RE: SoV and Lvl
# Jan 02 2001 at 7:21 AM Rating: Default
Level 30 and up should have no problem if they play smart. Most of the MOBs in Iceclad are easily doable by a group at lvl 30, and the experience is awesome. My ranger skated through level 30--ostensibly a **** level, though not as tough as 35 and up--in Iceclad, hunting cougars, dervishes and the occasional Midnight. If you're lucky enough to find a competent group, you can even do it at lower levels.
RE: SoV and Lvl
# Mar 04 2001 at 1:30 AM Rating: Default
Iceclad is great for 30 and above groups, counting the Tower dungeon, and Eastern Wastes and Great Divide are giving me great exp with very few deaths at mid-30's outside of the dungeons in groups, or soloing lower level mobs. So the expansion really can be for 35+ and be something new to try and new zones to explore. You just can't expect to get the best armor in the game at level 35, before there were even any expansions (unless, of course, you are twinked out of your gourd).

Your crazy if your paying attention to that crazy gnome at docks, Velious is doable at lvl 30, high 20s if your careful.

You got stuff in iceclad, tower of frozenshadow, east wastes, crystal caverns, greater divide, and some of skyshrine.

And yes western waste is 50+, but look at kunark, you can go there at lvl 1 but they have high lvl dungeons like charakis, sebilis and chardok.

So if you wana wait and "Concure" solb, lguk and kedge, by all means wait til you do. But you'll be missing out on some great loot, and great experiances.

Snobs? You grow up clown. Most people have an over 50 character since the game has been out 2 years already. They need the most new stuff for over 50 because its so boring at high levels. Verant caters to the majority. Theres plenty for you newbies to do already. You niether deserve or need the items from the quests that use flawless diamonds anyway unless your high level.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2001 at 12:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Shees people relax..., remember this is a game. LOL. look i think we all need to stop the newbie and veteran hate war. while we fight amongst ourselves, Verant is getting off at seeing us all strugle to get things that seem impossible. I am on ECI one of the olders Servers ever. Started about 8 months ago. I have a 40 warrior and a 30 necromancer. I have had the opportunity to get all my crafted on my own and worked my warrior hard. my reward was twinking my Necromancer. I just joined a small guild. So in the Veterans Deffence there is plenty for a newbie to do if you research. Go after what u want. Now i would love this Velious Armor. but it will be awhile cause i need to get to 45 and need a solid group. it will be tough. but i have no doubt that in time i will get it. I would love to get back at Verant one day for making things difficult at times. and i think the best way is to get a solid number of people 45 up and do an ultimate Raid. like 80+ people and raid a dungeon many believe impossible to conquer. its possible. But it takes numbers. thats what Verant is trying to say. In my opinion next to nothing is soloable after 45. and even if it is. the downtime must suck. Never the less. Numbers and having fun is the key to this game. I wish i could get 80-100 people together to get a Red mob at lvl 50. Guarantee he wont stand a chance. and if 80-100 people need to Role for loot. So be it. Me myself. i would just have fun getting together with that many people to kill something that doesn't die very often. and the reason is because this is a game and i am here for fun. Thats what its all about.
