I plan on doing this quest just so I can walk around in 'full Pestilence'. I like sets that all have the same name, just to wear for special occasions. Believe or not, some people like to 'roleplay' and wear full sets of stuff, or wear stuff that seems to go with their class for special events. i wanted Bonecaster gear, but this is a lot easier to get it seems for my necro's level.
This item is not worth doing if you're solely looking for stats. You'd do much better to get a Stein of Moggok, which sell for almost nothing, or can be quested by a lvl 12 enchanter. Those have +10 int and some other stats. Also, for the Dark Elves anyways, you'd be much better off doing the Writ of the Fallen quest. For all other races, a harvester/stein combo would be MUCH better than this. Plus this item just looks strange, while a Harvester makes you look very evil (except if you're a Gnome =P)
If this staff was 1HB I'd be rushing out to do this quest. As it is though, my current combination of Harvester and Writ of the Fallen is significantly better.
Why make a level 40-something quest with rare drops give you an item that's worse than items from a level 30-something quest and a teen quest? It's not as though many Necros are going to be meleeing at this level, and if they were it's unlikely they'll have 2HB skill high enough to use it effectively.
have to agree, i guess for someone who would like to use something when reverse kitting its nice, like switch em out, snare fear drop this in , refear keep whacking away, its not bad in the dmg ratio.
They seem to have done the same thing with all the caster weapons I have looked at. The cleric one is lame too.
Assuming you had something else for range slot, even a dagger of marnek, and stein of Maggok paired would be better than this. That should make lvl 15 or so the min level to outdo this.
This might be nice from level 1 to 20, on a twink. After that, It's pretty weak.
Well, assuming you have the time on your hands to do the quest, and you like novelty items, it isn't a bad toy for parties and weddings and whatnot, since it's only redeeming quality it the look.
That said, it's pretty weak to even put these twilight quests in the game, considering the poor results they yeild. Even playing on a brand new server, where you can't auction except in city zones (read: Firiona Vie) I pretty much had better stuff than what the Twilight Quests offered by my mid 40's.
Firiona Vie is a roleplaying server so auction and ooc aren't highly used nor encouraged. U can auction in any zone you want on normal servers. Get your facts straight buddy.
I would have to agree. Simply put, the ONLY good thing about this staff is the fact that it looks different than most other staves. By the time you can do these quests, you're probably in your mid to upper 30s at least, and by that level, this thing falls way behind several one-handed options for necromancers. For a two-handed caster item to even be viable, it needs to have stats comparable to a *pair* of one-handed items, and this staff just doesn't cut it.
sure, the staff is 2hb. sure, the staff is pretty low on stats compared to something you can get in the planes or other 50+ zone. but the stats are better than the visceral dagger gotten in Dalnir and the harvester/words of darkness quests in sol ro. so this item is perfectly placed right in the middle with resists, mana, large amount of int, and a cool look. it fits well with the 40's crowd, and definitely is not meant for those in the 50's. when you are done with it, just sell it.
Heh. If you're going to compare stats vs. 1-hand items like the Visceral Dagger, it makes a heckuva lot more sense to compare it to a Visceral Dagger PLUS Stein of Moggok combo...or Visceral Dagger and any other decent, easily attainable off-hand item of your choice.
In that case this staff clearly sucks rocks. I was better equipped by the 20's with my first, untwinked character, BEFORE expansions, BEFORE the planes even. Stein of Moggok, Sac Dagger. No way I'd switch from that setup to this staff, much less give up a Visceral Dagger.
The Luclin drops and quest rewards really confuse me. There's insanely good stuff, then there's stuff like this where your gut reaction is "why did they bother?"
Most of the Twilight Sea quest items fall in the latter category. Condolences to whoever went to all the trouble to actually complete one of these TS quests, and got handed this thing.
It seems like Verant should've been a LITTLE more consistent and predictable, matching item quality with quest (or mob) difficulty a little better. But hey I got a pre-nerf LSoEE so I'm not ******** too loudly. :)
