Required: Yes
The effect won't work until 50, but you can get epic before 50. You can start it anytime you want. The only real limit is the zone access level you might need. For instance, planes are 46 to enter. However, many epics with items from planes can be MQed.

Thankfully sony realised their mstake with epic quests and put alot more thought into the new epic quests which are fun to do
Now why would they lower it to level 47 you might ask yourself. Perhaps the game has out grown the spell and they felt it should be used sooner at a lower level? Maybe? Perhaps? If so who forgot to change the classic bad quest so a level 47 could get the spell? Or did they want to just lower the level to trick us all into thinking they are cool like that?
Please we would get fired if we did stupid stuff like this at our real life jobs. Well unless we worked for some liberal, forgiving panzy like yourself.
It is not a code thingy or buggy thingy. Someone just forgot and I am willing to bet it was the same slacker who put all that effort into the quest dialog after a few blunts.
SLACKERS do nothing to attract new players.

This sword is a culmination of days of work. and since I cannot find a Listing for "blackbastard sword" I can only assume you are talking about the http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16735 which is the closest thing I could find. Upon review .. Innoruuk's will has better stat bonuses and a better Effect the "Black Bastardsword" has a better DPS and has AC. if it were up to me I would rather get Innoruuk's Will because it is in my opinion a better offensive weapon than the "Black BastardSword" primarily because the effect drains HPS from your opponent and gives them to you over time. The effect of the "Black Bastardsword" Increases Hate only. No Damage dealt from Proc. This means that the BBS is primarily used for MT's. Since you dueled and we have no idea about the person you dueled or the gear he was wearing or the level he was. Your reccomendation is hardly something be considered.
Thank you for your input though. it will be duly noted on a scrap of paper in my garbage can. :-)

Just wanted to report that i FINALLY got my epic on legends server. Ive had greenmist since level 55 and ive been working on the epic ever since. I figured I'd report that this quest is very difficult and just for all you who are reading the quest in its entirety, realize that you DO NOT NEED TO DO THE WHOLE QUEST!! You can skip Kurron Ni, that stupid 1k elixir, and the ratman guard. All you need to do is hide and TYPE /con. If he then cons indifferent hit trade and GRATZ!! you just skipped gay quest stuff!! You can also have peeps MQ stuff for you this way. Just replace hide with invis spell(after trade screen is up of course) and make sure the NPC is still indifferent. I got Soul Leech MQd to me by a RL buddy and i bought the Decrepit Hide MQ today for 50k. I know that sounds steep, but I've been to Hate 27 times and killed over 250 ashenbone drakes and not seen a single hide. I petitioned and did a /bug every time and GMs just told me it still dropped. BTW i think that the epic was way worth the money. The spinning skulls and purple glow are way badass. I plan on doing the sro LDON and buy the proc augment that does 1 second stun and 100DD(direct damage). BTW i also 1 grouped Lhranc. I was very nervous, but our group consisted of all 65s with mad AAs(except me). We almost didnt kill him, but luck shined through. And the MT was a 65cleric with 420AAs and full set of time gear hehe. Keep up the hard work and you'll get their guys )

Even if better weapons are available, and the weapon must be equipped to use it. There is still the option of using the effect, then switching to another weapon for the actual fight. (Or switching to the weapon in mid fight for the effect, then switching back)

By the time you have a stack of Explorer Survival Knives, your Legion of Cabilis faction should be high enough to talk to Trooper Vaurk, who gives the quest. If not, kill a bunch of wandering sarnaks and forsaken iksar to speed it up a little. Also, killing the forsaken iksar is the only way to raise Brood of Kotiz (Iksar Necro) faction. When you turn in the knives, you get positive faction with Legion of Cabilis (Troopers; warrior guild), Crusaders of Greenmist (Crusaders; SK guild), Swifttails (monks), Cabilis Residents, and the Scaled Mystics (shaman).
Your Legion of Cabilis faction will skyrocket, but the Crusader faction will take time, though it will take less time than with the bone chip quest. It's also a LOT safer, once you're no longer KOS to the Troopers.

When you hand those items in Lhranc repops in his live form and you get the coin. To get the right version of Marl to show up you must Kill Lhranc. Then hand the coin to the Marl that pops on his death.
There is no way to ninja loot the epic or to bypass killing Lhranc. In the olden days anybody could loot the sword but they finally fixed that after some complaining about low level SK's with the epic that a friend had gotten them.
All the mobs in CoM will be KoS to you. Faction with Lhranc for the hand in is truespirit. The Shaman epic is also on truespirit faction but there faction is very high when they finish. An SK's faction stays apprehensive throughout the EPIC unless you go to some really out of the ordinary efforts to raise it.

If you had bothered checking shadowknight.org you would have seen many gnome sk's have theirs already.
At the time the picture above was sent, Gnomes were not an SK racial option.

By doing some parts over and over to raise faction or by doing other quests that yield truespirit faction you can potentially bypass other faction events.
However, Be advised that if you get to the end and something is messed up due to a faction problem your not gonna get any help from verant if they find you didn't do the quest as implemented so questor beware.

Until level 50, it is based on the delay of the 2hander.
I dont remember exact numbers, but I believe up to 40 dly is one bracket, 40 to 50 is another, and 51+ is the highest bonus bracket.
Due to recent changes in the post 50 game, at level 50+, it begins to rise even more based on level.
Str also lends a hand for players individual numbers.
attck number and skill just lends to how easy you hit, not really how hard.
