Lol I don't care what anyone says. I bet you untill these things become fully useless, they will still go for 30k. Any Less is a good deal. I know I don't own one, and won't even attempt to buy one untill I get that much money lol.
I have one :)

I am one of the fortunate few in EQ to own this wonderfull relic. I bought it for 40K, an awesome deal in all regards because the value of this stone is beyond plats. With the manastone, ES legs, and Rowly BP my druid can easily go from oom to fm in about 2 to 3 mins. Clarity 3 is crap compaired to the mana regen rate my manastone gives me.

The power of this stone is simply awesome, no wonder Verant took it out of the game. I've been offered up to 70K and various goodies as trade but turned them all down. The uber guilds may be able to farm planar and dragon loot everyday but they will never, ever, be able to optain a manstone.
RE: I have one :)
# May 28 2002 at 2:12 AM Rating: Default
You should take the 70k and run like a stripedy assed ape. These go for 20 to 30k on Aro.

The biggest drawback is that you can't use it except in the Old world (Antonica, Faydwer, and Odus).

My 2cp.

I see 1 of these in the bazaar on Vazaelle......the insane person selling it wants 1,000,000 pp for it!! As much as I would like one of these for my cleric......I think not......that is a bit much for an item like this.....even if it doesn't drop anymore.

I would love to have one of these also..I'm only lvl 27 but hey...it would be nice..

Anyway it looks as if this item is no longer dropped per allakhazam. Look right above to picture of it next to rarity.

Yup that sucks!!

If I am wrong let me know.

The superpatch of Oct'99 removed both the Manastone and Box of Abu'Kar (sp) but it also introduced the Temple of Solusek Ro and all of it's class armor quests that were eventually improved upon with Kunark armor drops, Velious armor quests and finally the Ornate and Elemental armors of PoP. The crafted armor quests in SK for warriors were the test and template for the Sol Ro armor quests.

The expansion nerf to the manastone was about the same time that the plane of sky went live if not shortly thereafter. It was definately pre-Kunark that they announced it would no longer work in the outer planes or in any EQ expansion because it was just so unbalancing in the hands of a CH capable cleric.

The pre-PoP T-rod nerf was done for similar reasons, an endless manapool trivializes way too much content and takes the challenge out of many encounters.

The only way anyone can get one nowadays is if someone sells their old manastone.

The manastone dont drop anymore. It used to drop off the EvilEye in lower guk but was removed near xmas in 1999. you can buy one for bout 30k. For int casters there is the alternative of a manarobe but this have a 3 sec recast time if im correct. The robe can be used everywhere tho.

Interesting that with the update, a hybrid: BeastLord- has been added as a class that can use it... while no 'old' hybrid- Ranger, ShadowKnight, Paladin -can.
RE: interesting...
# Jul 07 2003 at 8:55 AM Rating: Default
Beastlords can't use this. I have a Manastone linked in the bazaar right now (7-7-03) and BeastLords aren't listed as a useable class =\

Even more interesting, the picture seems to indicate that bards can use it. If so it's the only thing I've ever heard of that would speed a bard's mana recovery. Would be great for higher lev bards that like to charm solo.
RE: interesting...
# Jul 04 2002 at 7:12 AM Rating: Default
I think that is a product of the initial idea behind the bard. Some kind of ultimate hybrid. If you take a look on alot of old world int caster items they are bard usable (only remember runed cowl and Shimmering orb atm).

I own a manastone. I have verified that bards can indeed trigger the manastone, however no mana is returned.

There are plenty of places to still get exp, in the old world up through 52, and a few places to get it even up to the mid-50's. And the hole will give you exp up to lvl 60.

I have a magician and on guild raids, in Kedge or the Hole, a stone is VERY useful. In kedge, I swim to the safe spot outside Phin's lair, and make sure I CotH a couple healers on my first bar of mana. I then procede to stone myself, and while the healers are healing I can summon 15 people in a couple min. CotH = 500 mana (15 x 500 = 7500 mana) Conventionally, it would take at least 30 min to med up all this mana.
Yes, everyone could swim there with invis, but, 15 people with invis, and maybe only 2 people know the way, so people get lost, invis drops, they click on something they shouldn't, people die and it turns into a mess.

I just began using this item today and OMG what a difference it makes. I wear it with my Fungi Tunic and it's an awesome combination.

The effect is so cool too with all the skulls surrounding you. LOL people thought I was a Necro or something with unusual armor. I will never part with this item, now I see what it can do.

By the way, this item is now both Primary and Secondary slot useable. Allakhazam, add it to Primary drop down selections so I can update my character profile, please?

Actually, you don't even need to have it equipped to use the Manastone. I keep it in my Inv slot and just make a hotkey for it and click away on my cleric.
Awesome!!
# Feb 14 2002 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
My sis, who is a 54 cleric, doesn't play much anymore, so she let me use her manastone and Fungi Tunic. Even on the moon, I put these on, cloroplast myself, then when I'm LOM, I just port to old world, use the stone to regain most of my mana, (breeze or clarity helps too), then gate back for 70 mana and I'm good to go. Total time, about 2 min to full mana and health. AWESOME combo. Great Item for Druids, and Wizzies too. If I didn't have one already, it would be worth 50k to me to get one. Really cuts down your downtime when soloing.

Pricing
# Jan 17 2002 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
I realize pricing is subjective, but I would not part with my manastone for any less than 50k. And the conversion in 60hp for 20mana per CLICK. So to get my 55 Druid with 200wis one gold bar (20%)of mana, it pretty much has to drain almost all my hps. But when ever I'm grouped I ussually have a grp regen up all the time, so when I get full hps, I just click this baby till 60% hps, wait for hp to get back up, do it again. Helps allot if your the main healer, or like to bomb allot.

best way to use one:

have an item that heals you, cleric: right-click valor pal: right-click daring? druid: right-clikc skin like diamond

then this thing is god. but especially good for a druid who can fight in kunark/velious/luclin port to old world mana-up and gate back.

just my opinion.

and that is exactly how i saw it being used. i was in tox the day after luclin came out trying to do my tashania quest. went afk to med and go get something to eat. woke up to getting raped by a lvl 8 kobold. saw a cleric sitting and hailed him a few times and offered him clarity for a heal. no reply. then i just changed into a troll and decided to regen myself. thats when i saw this wizzard port in, walk up to the cleric, tons of little skelly heads started to spin around him and then i saw his life drop from about full to 2%, cleric *wakes up* and cheals him then goes back to sleep. wizard then gates. and regening about 900 hp with nothing but illusion troll on takes a while, so i was able to see the wizard pop in about every 4 min or so. drop the hp, and then get chealed.

heck, it works
port and click
# Nov 15 2001 at 12:15 AM Rating: Decent
as a druid it would be great, so what if it doesn't work in any of the expansions? bind yourself where you're fighting( kunark, velious, or the new expansion), port to the old world, get your mana with the stone and gate back, :P

Nuff, said.
so sweet
# Sep 22 2001 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
god i wish i had one of these

btw so what if you cant use it in kunark/velious... you can get xp in the original zones all the way to 55 i think.
RE: so sweet
# Feb 06 2002 at 3:16 AM Rating: Good
Here is a major secret, you can get through 57 in the old world, i will probably get socially destroyed for this post, but Neriak Third gate off a mob named Nallar Q Tentu (blue at 55) dont worry about mobs that surround him, they wont aggro, and Brownie Guards in Lfay, can level u up through 57, with a manastone 56 can be done in about a week solo, and 57 a week and a half solo. If you are the soloing kind, kill those, but remember...u didnt hear it from me...as a matter of fact..i will probably be camping them on Rallos...

# Jun 18 2001 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
First of all this is a nice item but unfortunantly i'm sure they will slowly weed it out of the game, which they have already begun to do. And it is NOT 502k whoever wrote that is insane they are about 10-15k they aren't and never will be worth 502k. These are great items which will only decline in value unles verant starts letting them into the new zone(which they won't) they used to drop off the Evil Eye in lower guk they don't any more unless the drop is like one in a trillion hehe.
I do have one question though does anyone know if they work in the new runneye if they don't i would recommond selling and selling it fast because eventually all the zones will slowly be redone in order to keep up with new expansions and wipe out this bad boy =(.
RE: Manastone
# Mar 08 2002 at 12:23 AM Rating: Decent
Dunno about New RunnyEye... but early reports say New CT no longer allows Manastone use.

So cross another zone off the list and knock another 500pp off the value ;o)
worth it?
# Jun 16 2001 at 2:55 AM Rating: Default
I know a few people with these and they both seem to think they are worth it. I mean think of the effect this would have as a cleric. Even if you are restricted in its use. I would be exstatic to have one of these on my cleric. I could keep myself in a constant supply of mana ,hp ,and exp plus no more staring at my spell book through every fight just keeping my groupmates healthy. The improvement in the quality of gameplay is worth the price if you can afford it.

Incidently i saw a pair of pit fighter gloves drop off a bat once so it may be a real manastone.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 11 2001 at 6:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was thinking of getting a Manastone and using it to power lv my cleric. I also have a Fungi tunic. I think that will be a killer combo for a cleric.

Great, now the thing poofs if it is dropped, used to be no drop and now only sold on players....doesn't work on kunark or velious......Anyone else get the feeling that this is a mistake verant is trying to weed out of the game?

P.s. Get a load of that 138k PC listed up there, what a joke, they are selling for 10-15k on Fennin Ro
powerleveling
# May 27 2001 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
actually a manastone gives the cleric the chance to powerlevel even more others doesnt matter if tank or caster.
if the caster is ur friend u can give him the stone and let him use it heal him... til hes full mana get back the manastone do the same thing u both are full mana soon, nice if u got those cheap donal arms, sometimes its nasty to use ch to make it effective.
actually I get near to 2 bub mana as a level 56 cleric and having myself buffed to 2100 hp (I gonna try tog et more HP stuff to make it more effective, probably 3k hp is possible with marzin symbol + hp items, instead of pinzarn symbol).
Its a cool item for clerics, but I doubt the usefulness for druids, shamans and even necros.

This is extremely usefull for druids and shamen. (where it can be used, that is...) I know a 60 druid who can get back all his mana in ~2 minutes using this. He just uses this down to 1 bubble health, then right clicks whatever bit of armor casts SLN for free healing (along with regrowth)
RE: usefulness for other classes
# May 28 2002 at 2:28 AM Rating: Default
He's feeding you lies. There is no druid armor that casts SLN. There's one that has the right-click Regrowth of the Grove effect. But no free HP filling buffs as of yet, sorry to destroy your illusion.
RE: usefulness for other classes
# Sep 19 2002 at 6:15 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, this is half true and half false. There is an item that helps heal you. Its the Elder Spiritist Leggings from VS. They right click Skin Like DIAMOND. Now casting this buff on someoneone does heal them for the amount of HP the buff adds, so if you cast it over and over, each time it will add another 200hp aprox. However, the downside to this is you wont be able to cast SLD on yourself if you have another one of your better HP buffs up which you probly would, like POG/PoTC/SLN/NS. So yes there is an item that heals you, but you wont be able to use any of your better HP buffs if thats what you were useing the VS legs for was the heal up from manastone.

I don't have a manastone, but if that guy's post about it being a 60 to 30 ratio is right. Why the hell would I spend 10k+ on this, when Cann 2 does like 67 to 30, and there's still 2 more Cannibalize spells to go, not sure on exact ratios.

Losing value with every expansion
# May 24 2001 at 3:17 PM Rating: Default
As expansions come out one by one (as Luclin is in June), these become less and less valuable as they can only be used in the original EQ zones. Not Kunark, not Velious, and its a safe bet, that its gonna be dead-weight in any Luclin zones as well.
Its still good on Naggy or Vox raids, but theres not much worth camping in EQ Major anymore, what with all the snazzy new stuff in the expansions.
BTW, saw a cleric in full planes gear kill himself with one of these the other day on a FG raid. I was laughing so hard, I almost peed my pants.
