I am noticing that the end product of this Epic is a scimitar that appears to not be usable by my Drakken. Has Sony fixed this or is this a useless quest for me? Any response will be gratefully received!
Thanks

Yes, this epic and all other epics were re-itemized in the Serpent's Spine expansion and can be equipped by Drakken. The item picture here is outdated, but the item info at the top of the page is up to date.

I just finished my epic quest, and with the exception of Faydedar, I did the whole thing solo -- 71 druid with tank merc. It's not that Faydedar couldn't be soloed -- I just had a friend who had killed him, and invited me to loot, so I can't honestly say I soloed all of it. But, nowadays, if you are high enough, you can solo this. The 'cudas and cyclops are frustrating, as is the Lesser Faydark spawns, but it is doable. Now, on to 1.5!

Just finished this on the zek server with my druid dasplumen lvl 55, 65 aa's 5hp buffed 5k mana unbufed, Hardest part for me was the barracuda, just could not get him to spawn, the dude in the swamp was a bit tough as well, dragon is easy by today's standards, this quest can be solo'd, I did, so can you!

as a druid on Firiona who is about half done witht he epic, i can say that many of the items are no-drop. Further, i dont know if you can MQ the turn-ins. that is, someone hands in the first items, and you hand in the last to get the resulting piece.

Sadly, it is possible to MQ the whole Druid epic.

The MQ seller would have finished the first two cleansed spirits, and the elaborate scimitar.

They would also have everything for the last cleansed spirit, except for faydedar.

Take MQ buyer to TD, spawn Faydedar, and kill. Buyer loots. Head to OT. Seller turns in the pieces for third spirit, and then the buyer turns in the piece from faydedar. Buyer now has the last cleansed spirit.

They they return together for the final turn in. Seller turns in their pieces, and buyer turns in the last cleansed sprit, and receives the epic.

Lame way to do it, but very possible.

The Epic 1.0 is simple. I completed it in a total of about 3 3/4 days... Get a high level Ranger to track all of the tainted/corrupted I two-boxed my mom's ranger having my Druid on autofollow. Note:The Seahorse was the hardest to find and the longest to spawn. Back to the point. VSR was easy. My mom's ranger almost soloed him (Level 65) not too Uber. But failed when the enchanter gated. So got cleric buddy to come in and help out along with a warrior buddy... Took him out in about 10 seconds.. Next Ulump... 65 Monk and 65 Shaman took him.... Also two-boxed here... My step-dad's Shaman and my cousin's Monk.. Faydedar took about 2-5 minutes to kill with 1 group of 65 Warrior, 65 Shaman, 65 Warrior, 65 Druid, my Druid who was about 49 close to 50, and a 65 Enchanter... We took him down easy. Did all turn-ins... Not too hard. Got epic and rocked the PoInnovation with my 51 Druid 1aa. :P Hope this has any helpful information for you guys... Good luck to all Druids.

RE: Epic Done
# Sep 14 2004 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
The druid epic is "easy" depending on your point of view. Now a days, yea, maybe easy. Now you've got gear and stats that makes Fay look like a pansy. But, if you don't have any uber friends or you're on a server with fewer people/guilds, then no, it's not gonna be so easy. If you went back far enough you'd see posts about how much of a b**** Fay used to be...now, as posted above, a 65 War can solo him. Compared to other epics? Yea, easy, hands down. *shrug* It's all in your perspective.

I personally finished mine tonight...after 3 years; just dinged 60 this week in fact. I'm a laid back player in a family guild. No really uber players; no uber outside help. Our hardest part was waiting for VSR to pop...I was so scared of Fay for 2 years but *shrug* easy as pie with the "technology" and gear we have in today's Norrath.

Happy Hunting and good luck to everyone else!

Ulump: Took him down with lvl 63 Paladin, lvl 65 mage and druid healing. It took a while, but it was not difficult for us.

Faydedar: Took 2 groups, high 50s and low 60s except lvl 46 druid. Druid was feared a lot, but the mini-dragon went down fast. We have done this dragon before, so we knew what to expect. Overkill, actually. There have been some Magician, with the appropriate AAs and gear that have taken Fay solo.

I wasn't being arrogant. My guild knew what it was doing.

Did Ulump this weekend with me (65 druid) and a 65 chanter. The best piece of gear I have is the high end LDoN BP. Enchanter has a little bit better gear, and also the LDoN robe. 88 aa's on my druid and 130ish on the chanter. Chanter tanked (5 peridots in runes) and let pet (not DC) beat on it while I healed and got a few dots through. Slow never landed though. Hardest part was chasing him down to get the last 6% of life out as he resisted my dots. All in all though, wasn't hard. Came back the next day with another druid (59) and ranger (63) and took him very easily with chanter taking the hits.

Uluump can be three manned with pre VT gear, and Faydedar is easily killed with under two groups, one if you have a bard, or better gear.

First time I killed Uluump, a 51 warriortanked, and we had 7 other people there, none over 56. With level 65s, its cake, and a BL or necro could probably solo him.
RE: Epic Done
# Apr 30 2004 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
If you compare it with the other epics, then yes the druid epic is one of the easier epics. It requires no planar raids (the bst is the only other one that can claim that) and outside of a handful of fights, most of it is soloable.

Fay and Ulump can be done with single groups now adays, they arn't exactly killing golems on Plane of Fear or getting to the last island in Air.

Cleric Epic requires no Planar Raids either. Fay and Ulump are pretty much easy kills these days. I can actually Solo Heal a Fay fight and Fight at the same time (Use MGB/Celestial Renewal-2 before the Druid hands in. That way, the buff is at the bottom of the list).

True, cleric epic has no planar raids, however, chardok is harder than any part of the druid epic.

I managed to do Ulump with a 65 cleric (Tank), a 49 paladin, and me, 58 druid acting as a thornser. When he ran we called in a 65 ranger friend and she finished him off with arrows. The whole thing took about 15 minutes to do.

I was so anxious to do Faydedar after Ulump that I just went in to the PoK and shouted that I was recruiting for a Faydedar pick up raid, got about 10 tells in a matter of 5 minutes and ended up with a final group of 8 people. 65 war, 59 cler, 65 monk, 65 sham, 54 war, 58 druid, another druid level 54 I believe, and a 63 mage. It took us longer to get there than to drop him. Nobody got seriously feared (like through the tunnel) and me and the other druid were easily healing everybody who got blasted by his AEs. Took him down in about 3-4 minutes and got my cleansed spirit of kunark in about 10 more after that.

It really doesn't matter what level you are either, just get a few friends together and you can do these two parts in about 20 minutes tops, assuming the spawns are up.

I'd say the hardest part (for me at least) is going to CoM to farm jade reavers or saving up to buy one. At this moment that's the only piece I have left in my epic, as I have the mixture, the gem from VSR, the pattern, and the 3 cleansed spirits sitting in my bank. The anxiety!

Anyways, I hope that helps some poor soul out there who thinks these parts are just about impossible.

my friend is working on the druid epic...
atm, he's almost done... just needs a few corrupted spawns and VS...

Fay was a cinch, duo'ed him with a Mage/Cleric combo... he took care of Ulump either solo w/ the mage, or duo'ed with my cleric boxed, can't remember which...

Either way, he's hoping to finish up his epic shortly... mostly everything can be duo'ed or solo'ed nowadays... altho i'm not sure about VS... time will tell...

I went around with a lvl 65 rogue and was able to do almost everything to get my epic. We had help with Ulump Pujlik. It took two 65 lvl rogues and just myself and he was dead in no time. As far as Fay the dragon goes, not a problem either. The two rogues, a lvl 65 mage and myself and he died in no time as well. Just watch out for his AOE spells I had to heal my self once but thats only cause I had NO hit point buff at all. The dark elf corruptor was fun. I had my rogue friend waitting at spawn point and when they popped he just let the reavers go and took out the corrupter. I was tracking all the way to him right after I did the turn in for the pop. And got to the spawn pt in time to see the last few hits before the corrupter went down. I just let the reavers kill the druids. I had got what I needed. And they pop back in about an hour any ways. At this cuurent point I have everything done but Venril and the corrupted seahorse. Ven is never up when I check in on him and after days and hours of hunitng I still havent gotten the tainted seahorse to spawn yet. If anyone got any ideas about how to make that easier I would love to hear them. How about some exact loc where they have spawned too. Haven't been able to find any info out on spawn loc. that has been useful to me yet.

The epic weapons are Kunark era. That's going on 5 expansions ago. When they came out they were uber, they've now changed to more of an "I did it" weapon. Everybody's epic kinda sucks by POP standards, but it shows that somebody put in the time, effort, and cooperation to accomplish something.

You've probably already heard, but Omens is supposed to have new epics, apparently unrelated to your original. I would prefer what you suggested though, a small add-on quest (per expansion) to boost the epics we worked so hard for instead of offering something completely different.

All in the eyes of the player I think. I know of many 65's, in PoP raid guilds, who still carry their epics as a primary weapon. Yes, they have others to switch out with, but mainly, from what I've seen, they stick with their epics. Just my thought...

I love my epic at Lvl 54! I think its the best weapon that I can get right now due to not being able to raid PoP yet. Even if I was in an uber guild and had better I would still have done it for the DoT on it. It gives me four dots to stack and I do hella damage every 6 seconds, especially at 54.

To be exact, the cast time is 9 seconds flat. It decreases 55 hit points per tick. But, it lasts for 3 minutes.

Hope this helps! Grats on spear!

I think the cast time is about 8 to 10 secs...not so good, unless mob is rooted of course ;). However, this bad boy lasts for three minutes at level sixty so you probably only have to cast it once. And the best part about this is that it's one of the druid bug dots (which all stack by the way) and it takes just about immunity from magic to resist a bug dot.

RE: Weapon For a Druid
# Sep 30 2003 at 2:39 PM Rating: Decent
Seeing that you are saying you are fairly new, I think all of these weapons are pretty much unattainable.

Druids really got screwed in the 1 handed slash department until they get their epic. I would recommend trying to get a Bone Handled Scimitar, drops in The Grey. Decent dmg/dly ratio and has good wisdom stat.

As far as the best weapons go, we druids have been blessed with many choices in the 1 handed blunt department. Weapons such as the Soulstripper (Dulak's Harbor), and a few lower ones like Dark Ember (Ry'Gorr camp in EW) and the always available Centi Warhammer.

I am a 61 Druidess and I NEVER use a 1 handed slash simply because the ones that are attainable by someone not in an UBER guild pretty much suck. I would recommend getting a decent 1 handed slash for keeping your skill up, but using a 1 handed blunt until you get your epic or some really nice friends. But in all honesty, how often do we druids melee? Get something with good stats and a proc that you like.

I'd have to say the Greatstaff of Power is the best out of the second list of 5, becuase of the amazing 40wis, what druid doesnt want more wis?, 20 more dmg than delay PLUS THE BONUS is great, this could allow a druid to go on in and melee along side his group, the 40 sta and 300 hp are great stats becuase every caster needs as much hp as they can get, cuz aggro can be a ****.

Nice post though, but I'd have to say that Greatstaff of Power belongs at the top.

If you've advanced far enough into the game to be able to get the Greatstaff of Power then you already most likely have WIS maxed even without the staff. The real highpoint of the weapon is the 300hp/mana. But even then, if you go with a 1h weapon and shield combo, you can probably get more than 300hp/mana and better stats.
grouping, soloing /shrug
# May 15 2003 at 6:06 AM Rating: Good
definately good stats and click dot, will be nice adition to my es sleevs and snair earring...
other then a few raids I havn't grouped much since 24 (most you druids know why)
I have played every class except wizzy to level 30 and must say that druids level faster solo outdoors then most any class can group or solo.
reason for this is haw many different things they can do, though in truth they are not better in any 1 skill then all others, in some ways they take 3rds
for instance wizzies have better DD's and AoE's, mages better DD's, necro's and shammy's better DoT's bards can be faster kiters, clerics far better ac buffers and healers, we do tie shammy's on regen, mages have the best damage shields and of course rangers have better tracking (love how they can sort by range heh)

when soloing best bet is root and rot for a long time (BTW at 53 I still use creeping crud, as it's still yet to see an upgrade...and thus far dosn't have one even checking ahead to 65)

around 34 you can try pet kiteing, though you are better off waiting till 39 or 44 to do so as sabertooth tigers in OT make wonderful pets especially with pet buff.

mid 50's you will finnally have a decent mana pool and a good AoE to start quadding, did 46-51 in about 18 hour played on spirocs though xp stopped (just about) when I hit 51, woulda been faster if KEI was as available a year ago as it is now lol.

at 52 you get a nice upgrade to imulate and if you have a pair of elder spiritist vambracers you can dish out 2500 points in 1 cycle, so sea furries will take 2 casts of dots about 3 roots and the snair you pulled it with,

at 53 your insect dot gets upgraded, now you can do 3k a cycle instead of 2500 =)

When it comes to grouping if there is a cleric you should stick to immulateing the mob (If they are taking more then a minute to kill) as this will lower the mobs AC allowing the tank(s) to do more DPS, damage shield main tank, as well as regen/chlor

you should have evac memmed and save 20% mana for this, if necicairy tell the group you are OOM at 20% if they don't let you have the mana to spair, better to be able to save the group then die becus of a puller not listening.

if there isn't another snairer in the group and you are in a train zone fighting runners, snair...DO NOT ROOT...as rooting will cause them to fight till the end

If you have mana cover the stamina refreshes for the tanks when they call for ZING

IF there is no cleric but there is a shammy (love them buffs) you are main healer, as most groups will keep them LoM from buffs and debuffs.

also if there is a necro in the group ask them if they are gonna be useing clinging darkness to snair, if they are do not snair unless they are OOM as this will prevent one of their nicer dots from landing, and overwrite/cancel it is it is in effect.

as for the epic, soloing the currupteds can be a pain but it is possable...at least most ov them, includeing the summoning sea furry, just be warry of quag...he's a magor nucence even with nice toys

the reavers in CoM are a (edit) as they have very very high resists, requires a couple groups with a good tank as main assist (hate to do it but gotta go back, missed out on the 4 drops the we got in 2 1/2 hours there.

the 3 reavers in EK are pretty easy with a chanter, warrior, druid and shamman of decent (around mid 50's) level...they didn't even make it 1/5 of the way down the hill and we were (the casters) still over 60 mana.

well rambled enough, hope I've helped some people be better druids wether they are grouping or soloing...

be safe and good hunting...
and allways watch where you park your mobs =)

Why do u use creeping crud at 53 when u get insect uprgade DOT at 34 (Drones of Dooms) and at 44 Drifting Death..?

But for all druids there is a good thing to know, all our Dot (upgrade) are stackable,

Sometimes, when i am soloing and want kill a mob with a certain Hp amount, i use at 56 my last 3 "insect" Dot plus Fire DOT and the Epic Dot and it's Rock !

I do recall focus effects activating when I would click my donal's bracer. I don't have an epic for my druid but I would assume there was some way of shortening cast time.
some combat procs are affected by AAs. I know from experience that Direct Damage procs are affected by spell casting furry, or life tap procs can get exceptional heals.
Hopefully a druid can post and confirm/deny if epic is affected by AAs and such.

I just recently (last night) achieved my coveted Nature Walker's Scimitar. WOOT. 1650 clicky dot ... ROCKS. Stat buffs, Resist Buffs... ROCK. The Bone Handled Scimmy I had before LOOKED cooler, but I'll live with the cosmetics. LOL.

For all you fools toting Shamans are better, Clerics are better, Warriors are better, Chanters, Necros, SKs, Monks, blah, blah, blah... You're all correct.

Druids ROCK!! Shammys ROCK!! Rangers ROCK!!, etc, etc, etc. Everybody has an opinion people, they're just like In-Laws (even if you're not "officially" married)..... everybody has some, nobody has to listen to them.

Eh, the only time I really aggree with this is when I'm the only healer in the entire group. I have been in groups where I am the only healer with tanks in their 50s while I'm at 49 and still using Greater Heal and the leader expects me to keep everyone healed and buffed, plus snare all the mobs, ds all of the fighter types, and dot the critters. I can do all of that if I am back up healer, but not as main healer, especially not in the new LDoN dungeons with their time limit. There is very little time to med in those.

Alright, I just gotta say this before more people die cuz group leaders read this post.

It's the group leader's JOB to tell you what to do. If they have no idea what a druid is capable of, well then, don't join that group. If they DO know, then they will tell you exactly what you should do.

You do not know how many times my warr has died because the cleric just MUST melee, cuz heck, they don't know otherwise.

My bard's died because I must move in and take all the melee hits (Tunare only knows how when these tanks get taunt and I don't) and then got whacked to smithereens.

My mage has died because the tanks are disorganized and someone says that they're in wherever we're hunting, and it turns out that it's JUST THEM, so I die looting my corpse.

My Enchanter has died many a time because people can't hit just ONE MOB and no one knows who's pulling.

I'd like to conclude with this:

High Druidic knowledge leader=good

Low " " " " " "=BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD

Knowledgeable that doesn't say anything=Dead from level 60 to 10.

i have to say i pretty much agree with the majority here, we are not meant for melee, we are meant for healing, buffing, evac, and adding to the DPS when mana permits. if you're in a group where you aren't medding every chance you get to stay close to FM, find another group, cause they're not pulling fast enough. it's a fine line, but it you have time to stand and swing at a mob when fighting for exp, something's wrong. just my 2cp
RE: Can't stand being told how 2 play!

Just an observation and an opinion, but if I were a melee type, I wouldn't want you in my group with an attitude like that.

If you're told what's expected of you while you're part of a group, you should focus on doing just that. If it means healing and light buffing, it also means you're sitting on your tush medding when you're not casting. If you're asked or told to do something else by the leader, then you should do your best to do it. THAT is how to be a team player and provide the best support for the group.

Are Druids are powerful.. YES! Druids are the all around best utility type in game. We can solo, we can group, we can heal, we can dish out damage, we can travel, we can do just about anything. But you're useless in a group with no mana and trying to stand in there with the heavy hitters, unless your group or raid leader tells everyone to start bashing for some reason.

What you should be doing is considering the needs of your group depending on your situation. What if an evac was called for? You're standing there hitting for skill ups and your mana pool is empty. Guess it's time for a mass CR..

Are Druids melee class.. NO! Never were druids intended to be melee class hitters past the n00b stage. It's fine to skill up in those areas when you can, but choose the practice times wisely. You're much more powerful with mana in store.

In short, guard your attitude and do what you're told. Do this to the best of your abilities and you'll long be remembered as a desireable group member. Flaunt your arrogance and you'll find yourself with fewer opportunities.

Didn't really intend this to be a flame, but I see too many attitudes like this and it's what gives us all a bad rep.

You are absolutely correct to say every member of the group needs to do what the group needs, as articulated by the group leader.

I *love* it when the tank looks at me and says "how DID you do that?" after the cleric says OOM and I throw a timely CH on the tank. I *love* doing 55dam/tick simply by clicking on my epic. I *love* popping up, landing a quick DoT or chloro, rooting an add, stun-DDing the target, then sitting again to regen mana with the advantages of PotG.

I wouldn't melee-- why risk taking damage and leaching healing mana from a melee class? Can I melee? Sure. I do over 40/hit with my epic. Do I melee? Not bloody likely!

I partner with an ogre SK. We often group with a 60+ cleric who thinks, since the cleric upgrade, that he is a tank. I have my ogre buddy hotkey'd for CH, because the cleric has ... oops!... been too busy melee'ing to heal him. The ogre doesn't die with me *beams with pride* and I'm also helping him with my epic DoT.

(In fairness, the cleric in question has improved recently and has almost returned to the stellar performance for which he used to be known.)

At level 60, I have long since learned my role: utility player. And I wouldn't still be on a druid main if I couldn't handle that task. A druid who played as the poster described would be out of my groups immediately and permanently.

I don't know about the rest of my fellow druids . I LOVE getting exp while sitting and medding... let the tanks do whet they are supposed to do , let the damage casters do what they gotta do . Let the clerics do whet they gotta do and then I step in to save the day under any situation . I may not be the best at any one thing , but I guarantee that I can help in any situation . Hell , I dont tank when I solo , I just snare , root and dot , LOL , kinda like being in a group.... Only time I don't like the sitting part is when the group is Ninja Loot... Give me easy exp any day of the week.

Agreed. I can't count the number of times I've been in groups without an enchanter and had to root park the adds. Of course, I always DoT them while they are just sitting there. By the time the tank has turned around to find the add that he KNOWS he saw come up, it's half dead and still rooted. No taunt needed, just walk within range and it will start beating on you. Heh hee! Really fun when you have room to spread the adds out so they can kill each one single. Saves clerics mana, and makes for faster kills too. Have root parked as many as five adds at a time with DoT using ESVB mana free dot. Tricky though, long cast time. Stay as close to FM as you can for those situations when you will have to do a mana dump quickly in order to control the situation and save your group. They wont say a word about how much you sit down if you keep saving them from the bad pulls because the monk doesn't realize the train he pulled is too high level to forget him just because he FD for ten seconds. Can't believe how many monks over 50 haven't figured this out yet! Not ranting on Monks though. Would rather have a smart monk pulling than any other class. Easier to avoid trains if you ask me.

Again another here to agree... I don't mind sitting there throwing Chlorplast and heal whenever it is needed, I usually offer to Master loot as well and I have gained a reputation as an honest group member. I feel that everyone deserves thier fair share. Sitting and medding while the action is going is what I do anyway when I solo (unless quad kiting, and at 44 it isn't as efficient as root/rot at least to me. What I mean is after a quad there is tons of downtime even with KEI, and to me downtime = exp loss.) So, in short, if and when I join groups, I do what the group leader ask me to do... And even most of the time as soon as I am invited into the group I ask what is my job? I don't mind ghetto mezzing adds and healing/buffing the party, or even evacuating the group to save my own backside. So again I say to the composer of this string, Suck it up and do what you are asked to do, or solo. But you can forget those nice uber with out doing what your are asked to do. Also let me add... Then if you are doing what your group/raid leader asked, and your party gets wiped, guess who's at fault. Blame can be given to the group/raid leader that called the action, not to the moron druid that didn't have enough mana to evac his/her party to safety, or heal that main tank who is taking the blows from Faydedar so you can get your epic. Sorry for the rant, but in the words of "The Great One" "Know Your Role."

I just want to reply to the guy who said that raids dont depend on druids as much as they are on Clerics, Warriors, and Enchanters. Thats true, but its not only druids. This also applys to Rangers, ShadowKnights, Paladins, BeastLords, Magicians, Necromancers, Bards, Monk, Rogue, Wizard, ..etc. Ok you need Damage Dealers but if you dont have a Wizard you can have Monks or Rogues so nothing will stop you if you dont have wizards for damage dealing. If you need a tank you can have a warrior but its ok for you not to have a ShadowKnight in your raid. So all classes aren't really important in a raid (in general) like a cleric, or an enchanter this doesnt only apply to Druids.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 20 2003 at 12:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wrong. You're thinking may be right 3 years ago but nowadays the Triumvirate is no longer the standard combination in a raid. A raid composed entirely of Clerics, Warriors and Enchanters will not get far. Warriors = crap DPS and Taunt compared to Knights. Monks + SKs best pullers. Wizards + Mages + Rogues = best dps in short (period of time). Warriors role = Stand and tank.
