We need a modern item window pic of this item.
We could use a pic of a wizard wielding it.

Some key points from the thread:

Thought I'd take a short cut and kill a keeper for their Darkwood Staff without thinking about the negative faction hit I would take. Must have killed 200+ shadowmen trying to raise my faction before I decided to follow the Rathmana's Traveling Offer quest route where I was able to spend 900pp to get my faction back to where I started. All in all a Lambent Stone would have been the easier route to go....
Temple of Sol ro factions are bizarrely nasty. Don't kill them without good reason. Don't hail the efreet (big genie in the back room).

See below... it's always useful.

JMTC. This staff is probably the most used item in the wizard ******** How so? Well.. at 65 I still use it to pull mobs while on the run. It is instant cast which makes all the difference in the world since you can "run by" pull. You dont have to stop. You just right click from inventory and the mob chases you. Very nice when you are on horseback etc.. and stopping just means a slow restart to a run, or you are in a hot spot with other nasty mobs and stopping to cast some agro getting spell will just put you in harms way longer than is good for you.

I have also used it in lowbe places to pull the entire zone to AE them all. For example when I messed up some faction with emerald warriors and wanted it back I went into crushbone with my wizard just running around targetting while running and right clicking the stick. Pretty soon I had the entire zone running around after me. Since I was too high to agro any mob by proximity this saved me a ton of headache in stopping to hit a mob to get agro.

After single casting an AE and killing the entire zone at once I did it again and again and was very quickly back in good graces with EW.

I have also used this staff while quad kiting in TD with the raptors. To quad them would not be possible without the staff cause you would have to stop and cast some other spell. And what you dont want to do is stop when you have 3 raptors already on your tail.

I reiterate. If you are a wizard.. and don't have this staff.. I don't care what level you are.. you are not a good player.
That's a quote from 2003. Some tactics may no longer apply, but at the very least it is a great aggro stick.

Perhaps this was worth having once upon a time, but I don't think this should be a quest unto itself now.
I think this should be added to the Staff of Temporate Flux quest and be listed as one single quest.

The Darkwood Stave you are looking for can be bought at particular Fletching vendors for around 125-150pp each depending on faction and CHA

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 19 2001 at 9:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Who would want this. You can buy a sarnak enforcer for about 30-50 plat, its also magic, has 7dmg and same delay(28). The only things this is an upgrade for is a starter club or cracked staff.

Hey, there, Scholar-boy, ....

It is a *NECESSARY* component to get the Wizard's Staff of Temporate Flux, truly a class-defining item. Wizard only staff with the effect of Lower Element. Let's a Wizard NUKE better, and that is a wizard's primary function in life.

So that pretty much defines who should want this.
Who gives the staff?

You gain faction with the Temple of Ro and loose with the Shadowed Men.
anyfaction increase?

Is there a faction hit(good or bad) nobody ever seems to mention that when they talk about these quests.
RE: anyfaction increase?

Yes, Solusek Ro goes up, Shadowed Men go down.

If you come across a giant or griffin corpse with a Lambent stone on it, grab it and take it to the Temple of Solusek Ro and do the quest with it. Much easier to find a buyer for this staff than the Lambent stone, and it's a great magical 1hb for casters, a wonderful upgrade to the cracked staff if you've been working 1hb. If I'm not mistaken, this staff has the same stats as the Crystal Staves only without the procs (which are pretty lame anyway). So this quest is definitely worth it.
