FD skill...

Just a thought but has a monk tried using this drink? The Interplanar Brain Blaster might just be coded like the nec/sk spell but perhaps its coded like the monk skill, and therefore runs off the FD skill level to determine if it succeeds or fails. Very easy to test this theory out. Non-monks would almost never get a mem wipe from drinking this, but highly skilled monks would very frequently.

It wouldn't effect gameplay one way or another, but it would finally resolve the debate.
Not a FD potion

I have 200 Alcohol Tolerance. I made several of these with brewing to test it.

It certainly does knock you to the floor and makes you drunk at 200 AT. The person that posted that it didnt had to have been bugged - or confused about what they were drinking, and/or had made a bunch and wanted to sell them in the bazaar quick before people found out it doesnt work to FD. The drunk effects last a long time.

I repeatedly failed the FD part of it with the drinks. Even if I was FD, I couldnt have possibly stood up and/or negotiated any rational movement for at least 10 mins.

Someone on EQTC calculated the chances of FD from this drink at 1% or less and the devs have said that wasnt the intent of the drink.

Its good for skilling up very high level brewing. The kirin horns drop reasonably well from the spirit stag camp in Arcstone, which is an easy camp.

Its good for a joke. No other reason in the world to chug one of these.
Good luck!

The increasing scarcity of this drink on Stromm seems to suggest word has gotten out that this does not have the listed FD effect. If you are stupid enough to think it does, your brain has already been blasted. The drink does however have a cool porting effect, blasting you across many zones and into the loading screen, stunning not only your toon but your entire computer. This can often be bought from soulstone vendors.
Not Feign Death

Correct, this does not make you feign death. This should be relisted as "Dead Drunk". The mobs can still kick you up the **** and fart on ya. This is a beauty drink.

THIS does NOT.... NOT give you FD. if you do pull off an FD off of this it is a bug and enjoy.

Tested in DSP - went to some fungus there - stood and got aggro - hit the potion - knocked me out NO FDor memwipe.

Stood up -- ran OUT OF melee range... hit another potion. again fell over - like a corpse - but they ran up - and started fighting.

Test 3. without any aggro - drink one.

PULLED with another char - fungus onto the person that used a root spell. The fungus that was WELL out of aggro - range prior to the pull - ran up to the mob got aggro - ran up to the person laying down - and rooted it - Sure enough this virginal aggro mob- aggroed the person that was laying down drunk.

SO - this is a party gag - and that is it. IT IS HOWEVER THE BEST DRINK IN NORATH>

could you imagine the retail value in the real world of a drink that no joke knocked youover instantly drunk from one shot?

Yes - it "Looks" like FD. that is the point it shows you lying down - that doesn't mean a mob will not see you. A True feign death means that a mob will not aggro you - it takes you for dead.

I am a Dwarf Berserker AT 216, I drank one of these last night and laid there for quite awhile. I was not able to move. I have a screenshot that sure looks like i'm FD. Something Dwarf Berserkers can't do.

Just went to take out Vakshiz in PoN. Tank LD's before we get there and don't come back. Had a 70 War use em to FD train the Hobgobbies and help us out. Run 6 and clicky FD a happy thing.

On a side note, probably not the best use for this. Cost between 10 and 15k in Baz on E-Marr. Farming for it would take long enough to make it equally unrealistic.

But it CAN be done!

From Absor on eqforums:

"No, that drink was never intended to give everyone FD.

A"

That reply is about 9 down from top. Sounds like if FD does or ever did work when drinking this, it wasn't meant to do that, or at least not for everyone (his later replies get kind of vague).

On a camp wipe, FD pullers and of course clicky's, what a great idea.
Brewed

Made this and gave it to a BL to test. He fell to the ground, but it wasn't a successful FD. This has apparently been the case with other people using it according to the brewing trades Boards.

I'm wondering if you have to Alcohol Tolerance maxxed in order to successfully FD?
RE: Brewed
# Jun 16 2005 at 6:34 PM Rating: Decent
I've tried it 3 times and never the FD was succesfull, only drunk hehe
RE: Brewed
# Jun 27 2005 at 2:41 PM Rating: Decent
Made 3 of these for my cleric friend. Never had to worry about drunk effects, I was dead before well before they would have worn off:)

3 fails for 3 clicks...if this FD effect works I have yet to see it. Going to make about 5 more and test in Crushbone or something.
kirin's horn

does anyone know where the kirin's horn drops ? i don't see any info on it
thanks

Been making these since the second day of DoN. You can check my post as Qtpie to verify the date I first made them. Let me clarify a few things.

First: I have 200 Alcohol Tolerance, and chugged two of these in fairly quick succession. I wasn't drunk at all.

Second: Having downed about a dozen of these, I have never seen one fail... I don't think it's a failable thing. So yah, it's a /bonk to every FDer out there except that it takes about an hour to farm the kirin's horn you need to make these. You'd get the xp back from a death faster than you can make blasters.

Third:I have no problem selling them for 5K each, so you won't see too many people using them for gitz and shiggles. It's a nice, last-ditch try to avoid a wipe. There are potential abuses, but they'd require a HUGE timesink in making the drinks first. (Think RZtW and PoE rings encounters where you usually take a TL out... would make for a nice time savings).

Anyhow, that's my two cents.
Completely useful!!
# Mar 10 2005 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
If you'd just spend a few hours clearing in a GoD instance raid zone where the wanderers repop behind you, you too would think this was the answer to all your prayers.. >.< Have each clicky cleric have one and that way you have a chance for, not only your necros to get down to rez later, but also some clicky clerics... you don't waste your entire night =P

I'm sure the ingrediants aren't going to be a cinch to get either.. just a thought. It's about time they put this in =P

Now about that bard FD song *grin*
Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster
# Mar 09 2005 at 11:51 PM Rating: Excellent
No one seems to have said this, but this seems a relatively obvious homage to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This has a very similar name to the famously potent drink the "Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Galactic_Gargle_Blaster

A quote about the drink:
It says that the effect of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick.

I just learned about this item as I was perusing EQ Traders and I saw the immediate homage myself. I was going to put a cryptic message of "Zaphod would be proud..." but looks like somebody already noticed it before me.

Recipe for "Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster

1:Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit.

2:Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V.

3:Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).

4:Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it (in memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia).

5:Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones; subtle sweet and mystic.

6:Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian suns deep into the heart of the drink.

7:Sprinkle Zamphour.

8:Add an olive.

9:Drink... but... very carefully

Recipe for Interplaner Brain Blaster

1: Vodka

2: Air-Infused Spring Water

3: Melted Glacier Whiskey

4: Marsh Gas

5: Mint

6: Kirin Horn

7: Camphor

8: Olive

9: 6 second stun and fall to the ground

I wonder....... :)

I think this item is great, and any class that has FD that thinks that the games is being ruined because of it must be insane. This is one time use, not a full fledged ability, and I highly doubt that anyone can afford to use these things the way a monk, necro, or SK would use it. Must be very handy to have for a clicky cleric in case of a wipe. I think FD toons should be fairly greatful to have someone avail to rez them after a wipe

I don't know how many times that I wished my alts could FD like my main...
but I do agree that classes should remain seperate and unique... next thing you know my SK will be casting Temp in PoK...lol
RE: SoE Ruining EQ Further
# May 13 2005 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
SK now casting temp, 5K minimum donation... Hmm, I'm not thinking there's going to be a big market for temp from an item like this, even if one were introduced. OTOH, I'd like to brew this up for some clerics, even if it takes me five hours to get the ingredients together. Saving a raid from a complete wipe would be more than worth it, and I don't mind at all if they FD when I can't!
SoE Ruining EQ Further
# Mar 08 2005 at 2:10 PM Rating: Default
So SoE is going to continue to ruin the game by homoginizing the classes and giving everyone else unique abilities of other classes. While convenient to the non-FD classes, giving away FD is a huge slap in the face to the monks, SKs and necros with this inherent ability especially in light of instant cast time regardless of the piddily brief stun and drunkeness. Way to undermine class specific abilities SoE, make sure you give everyone player made potions for complete heals, full mana, 96% rezzes, pets, backstabbing, tanking ability when caster, casting ability when tank. Might as well quit and play Ascheron's Call so at least I KNOW up front about choosing multiclassed toons and abilities instead of them being forced on you, taken back or given to classes that clearly have no right to use them...
RE: SoE Ruining EQ Further

In terms of other classes being able to FD, Items have been in the game to do this for many years... Check out some of the oddball quested stuff from Plane of Air (old school plane, not Xegony's hangout) There is at a minimum, a shaman usable ring with 2 charges of FD on it, and I'm relatively certain that at least one of the items for each class has 2 charges of FD.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1640" rel="external nofollow" title="https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1640">

Ok... doublechecked, and shaman is the only class that got fd out of plane of sky... :)

And don't forget - the classes who don't have FD using this - will probably fail the FD a lot - as they have no skill in FD to back it up with...

Yeah, overreacting big time. This would be nothing more than an extreme last effort. I highly doubt you will see any drunken pulling with this item.

I think you are over reacting to this new item. It would be a useful avoid death item, that would give you FD and avoid being killed in a wipe, but not a competitor to Monks pulling and splitting abilities.

The price you pay to use it is a harsh 6 sec stun and insta drunk with an impossible 1000 Alcohol Tolerance required for non drunk. This means if you chose to use it and it fails to stop attacks you are dead, and that if it suceeds you are useless for quite a long time, especially if you are a caster. Maybe longer in some instances than it would take to get rezzed and rebuffed.

I would not consider this a slap to monks at all. Just an alternative item to instagate to use in case of wipes, especially in raid wipes in hard to reach areas which would take along time to run back to.

This will make raiding less frustating especially at higher end and therefore they will happen more often and more higher end gear will trickle down to everyone.

Is there a drunk "cure" or once you're toasted, you're toasted till the effects wear off? (not unlike RL =))

Also, I'm guessing that having 200 AT won't help anymore than if AT were 1 ?
