Task Text - There is a troll shaman charged with creating protective talismans for the Dark Reign. We'll need them against those dragons. They are looking for someone to loot 8 Lavaspinner's Silk in Lavaspinner's Lair. The job is yours is you're willing.

Lavaspinner's silk ( NO DROP ) is collected in Alliance Tasks through Wayfarers Mercenary Bitral. The task is a solo mission/quest. No need to turn in she will not collect them. No real use for this item.

I have done the Norrath Keepers version of the mission to loot these about a dozen times. They drop from lavaspinners of all vaieties in regular and instanced versions of Lavaspinner's Lair.
They have no purpose except for looting for these tasks.

what is it for?
Its for one of the DoN tasks given by the one of the NPCs at the mercenary camp in Lavastorm. For my shaman, task was to gather 8 of these and turn them in.

Both these guys are correct.. this does Not drop anywhere in Lavastorm. Dark Webspinner also drops a decent bow (Bow of Maga, or Maga Bow.. don't remember the exact name offhand)
Anyone after the silk, just keep right once you enter Lavaspinners lair and you'll end up in the spider area.. they are nicely spread out, and don't cast or proc.. 50/50 dark blue/Light blue at Lvl 65.

im pretty positive lavaspinner silk dotn drop in lavastorm i killed the spawn of scorched lavaspinner elites like 5 repops of whole room, not 1 silk dropped...

These are used for the Dark Reign alliance tasks (Recieved the task from the Mercenary camp). You are supposed to loot 8 of them from spiders in Lavaspinner's Lair. Drops off any spider model mob that I ran in to in Lavaspinner's, except "Dark Webspinner", which only dropped the Ring of Reflections.
