I am camping the dude for the prod, and came across these scorpions.

First time, I had my 80 war attack the skelly and was surprised to see a bunch of scorpions. They were no trouble to kill and found this talisman among the dead.

The second time, the skelly was on a different table. I attacked with my bard singing a 78 per tick DoT. All of the scorpions, save one, died at the same time. The one remaining had 58% health. I did not get any resists to my song, so this one is special. When just this one was left, I pulled him away from the others (yes, I got summoned once, but he came afterwards) and killed him. This special one had the talisman. It was easier to loot because he was pulled away from his normal friends.

The respawn timer was between 20-40 min I think, but I wasn't paying a lot of attention.

The summon, rampage, and enrage. They are immune to runspeed changes as well.

One last tidbit, there were 20 regulars and the 1 special.
Hmmm

I was camping the Chancellor for my rogue and my daughter's cleric to get the JCP, when I saw the skeleton on the table. I clicked it from afar to identify it... no name. So, being a 77 HIE PAL, and most things here being decidedly gray to me, I decided to be brave and used /open on it.

I ended up with 21 "a scorpion hatchling"s, no ae of any sort, and they died to riposte even as I would target another one. The talisman did drop off only one, as stated below.

Perhaps the number of hatchlings is random? Perhaps the AE either no longer applies, varies by level of the attackee, or does not apply to melee classes?

These were tough for a 66 Wiz, popped the skele, got about a hundred of the damn things, couldn't kill enough to matter in the time it took for them to whittle me down to dangerous life level, first time this happened I got killed, next time I tried something different but it was still no good, gated ok but can someone give me a realistic approach to this? What is this PB ae anyway?

Was there for key quest on my 68 bard, decided to check it out.
Nice, trap, lol, anyway tried to move away and see what was what, and kept getting summoned. Finally faded and took a look, went back in with DS, and AOE playing, cleaned them up.

Was wicked funny.

Got this item today, but I'm not a wizzie so I can't use it. It was easy to get however. Head to Chancelor Di'Zok's room and a table to the left and in front of his throne is a corpse layed out on the table. Attack it to get the scorpions to spawn. Easy to get if you have an area up. I didn't have area up but killed the easily with a 69 shaman with pet.
easy pie
