Problems?

have a problem with this weapon? MQ it for me.... ill take it and wait till im 70 and use it... in short you are not required to do this quest so if you feel it is a waste of time or that the weapons is stupid or not massive enough.... dont do it... leave it to somebody who doesnt already have a 70 necro feeding their ranger plat for twinkage and who can also appreciate the perks of owning this weapon...
Cheers to all of you who dont have a warped veiw of this weapon and look at it for its worth and not its possible downfals =)

When you get this, the 2.0 epic, do you still have possession of Swiftwind and "Heartwood Blade"??

If you did still have it, have Arora on one side, the 1.5 on the other....owwwee!!

After you do the combine that involves swiftwind and earthcaller you get them back. As for heartwood blade, it is part of the final hand in for the 2.0 and you do not get it back.
RE: quick question....
# Jun 10 2005 at 4:04 PM Rating: Decent
also you have to combine Swiftwind and Earthcaller in the Crooked Cage with other comps..Now having said this what is unclear is do u get them back...sorry i know that this doesn't answer your original question, but maybe some kind and all knowing L70 Ranjah with Epic 2.0 will bless us with a simple straight forward and easily understood answer (after all i am a ranjah). Prolly as much chance of that as getting SEoC on your first trip to PoH

I am pretty sure that you use the Heartwood Blade to craft Aurora, and you can't do Heartwood again because there are flag parts to it that won't allow you to do it again. I'm not 100% sure on this.

Also, if your guild is good enough to obtain 2.0's, they should be good enough to get weapons better than Heartwood Blade. /shrug

I am one who would have preferred an Epic Bow. However, I do agree , even if i chose to range more than melee. (mana free dps and when i say mana im talking froma healer perspective) this weapon rocks. Ranger = flexibility. We are the most flexible melee class, and this weapon increases that flexibility. But a bow of this caliber would still rock :p

IMHO, I think it would've been even cooler if the weapons were more class geared. EX:
Bard - Instument (actual one, that looks like one)

Beastlord - Something to make pet cooler and stronger, like vah shir get cooler looking tiger, barbarians get falcons, something like that

Berzerker - big *** axe was right idea

Cleric - Shield was awesome idea

Druid - I expected a scimitar, but staff was cool

Enchanter - I swear they stole my idea

Mage - Cooler looking pets, staff was cool

Monk - like idea

Necro - AWESOME

Palidin - was waiting for the light sword, however i thought it would have hugh undead bane

Ranger - I wanted to see the uber bow, i am pissed JK
Rogue - what else would they have

Shadowknight - ok

Shaman - Cool, i guess

Warrior - Cool

Wizard - Not sure

This is what I would like to see out of the Iksar Epic 2.0s

Beastlord -

SK's are way more flexable, as they can effectively tank, fd, snare, and dps. the FD and tanking capabilities alone put them a foot ahaid of rangers utility wise. of course dps from a bow or good dual weild setup will dwarf most SK's dps, but as for flexability, they kinda hard to beat

What?!?!? You have to compare all attributes of the class if you are to compare flexibility. You can't just pick 4 and judge on that. Rangers get tracking and harmony type spells, that makes them good pullers, just like FD for SK's. Rangers can throw gimp heals on other classes, not just gimp heal themselves. Rangers get useful buffs other classes use, SK's do not. Rangers have better ranged dps which is very important in alot of raid encounters.

I suppose clerics and wizards are more versatile than druids because they heal or nuke better... Smiley: motz

I can honestly say that I couldn't care less about the clicky. The dmg/delay at the level you need to be to aquire this is just amazing. Very happy that i haven't seen any high end content touch that yet. With the right aa's and likely painsipper or something alike in your other hand. You would completely forget about your bow altogether if you hadn't already. If the rest of the stats/clicky did allow you to crit every other bow shot during TS you might still use it. With the right aa's bow does hit pretty hard again but, still not nearly close to the dmg you would do with Painsipper and this. HP and all that crap is great but again at this level you already had 2 weapons with 250+ hp in each hand and, stats that weren't all that far away. This is a godly weapon that any ranger should be happy to have.

The 10 hit limit is on this as well as the 1.5 click... imo and in many others, makes the click pretty worthless. if you think about it - somthing that increases your crit and accuracy by 170 for only 10 hits is kind of redundant and defeats the purpose for useing it with melee...

While it would be slightly better to use the click with ranged.. its still pretty lame with a 10 hit limit... wtg Sony ><

Every high end ranger usually melees more than they even use their bow! with this sword, rangers would hit from 300-400s no crits, My ranger has 18dmg sword and he happens to hit for 200s crits and 150normal with AA... if you have AA and this sword you can get up to 700s crits... and 24dly? OMFG just imagine... now they made a reason to use jolt...
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 22 2005 at 3:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) not to burst your bubble or anything, but as a 63 paladin, using a windy, i cant hit more than 350, so, a 70 ranger with whatever AAs ide immagine would only be able to dish out around 200-300 a hit. Dont quote me on this, but im fairly sure thats about right, not sure on if rangers have DPS AAs or not, ill check :P

Personally I don't care that it's not a bow now...wow. While I agree I would have liked to have HAD an Epic bow, if I ever get my hands on this (years down the road), I may very well be glad for it over a bow.

There's plenty of bows out there that are of Epic proportions. The fact that this adds 170% chance to hit to bow as well makes up for it, in my opinion.

I really don't find anything at all to complain about with this sword. Gratz to anyone able to get it. I will hopefuly join you someday (though my server is usually rather slow in achievement...=/ ).
Epic Bow
# Dec 15 2004 at 7:16 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know if this is true, but the rumor I heard was that they originally planned a bow, and even tested it on the test server. But to keep its stats on par with the other epics was to give Rangers an unfair advantage, and unbalance the classes. It would have given rangers a pretty hefty range weapon that no other class except casters could match, and they didn't want to turn rangers into a poor mans wizard.

Edited because my proofreading skills are about as good as my spelling.

Those quotes are pretty laughable. Of course rangers use their bows. There are many raid situations where the bow becomes the choice weapon. I'd like to hear of a ranger that didn't use their bow while fighting Ture (Anguish).

Also, sometimes using a bow sure beats chasing a mobs back to avoid riposte damage, or the occassional 180's on an enraged 2k hitter. It's also relaxing compared to melee. Sit back and fire away. Adding 100 or so more dps from melee really doesn't mean anything as far as killing speed is concerned when the guild is already doing 10,000+ dps clearing trash mobs or whatever.

oh gosh now what are we supposed to do with our 1.0 epics, you wield swiftwind because of the 40 haste and i dont know about the rest of you guys but i got rid of my soulscream belt when i got my epic because the worn haste didnt stack. so if we weild the 2.0 in one hand and swiftwind( which has horrible dmg/dly compared to almost anything else you could get) in the other where in the world does earthcaller go, and when soloing the slow proc is priceless. -- so i guess we will be switching our weapons in the inventory constantly while fighting because we will have no haste when earthcaller is out waiting for the proc

i dont understand why we couldnt have just continued the epic 1.0 quest and make the 2.0 weapons direct upgrades of our 1.0 weapons(i mean to keep the 40 haste and slow/dot procs)
RE: epic 1.0
# Dec 16 2004 at 1:19 AM Rating: Default
Elorian is correct...by then, there are other haste items. By the time you're able to get this, Earthcaller is horribly outdated...even the 50% slow is worth giving up. And there's more than enough items out now that give a 45% haste, which makes Swifty not even compare.
Don't worry young Ranger. =) SoE will give you plenty to get your mind off them.

Hee hee, all these spoiled rangers out there, sounding like they got the world's worst epic, simply because there's only one part to it. Go figure... you give a ranger a 2-part epic, and he expects that for life! =) All in all, it's a beautiful blade, that, like most ranger weapons, helps both melee and range attacks immensely. Grats to all those who have gotten or are going to get this weapon.

Yep, uh-huh. And shouldn't clerics get an epic shield, and bards epic gloves, ooh ooh and what about the chanters with their epic right-clicky-AE-mez loincloth? I can think of a lot of classes that would have seemingly appropriate epic slots to add, but really... you get a weapon. Would you rather you got an epic bow and no sword? I'd like to see the forums then =P

Aside: This is a sweet sword either way, you want to get all stats maxed at end game, and this is just one thing you'll be holding when you do it.

And actually my 66 Bard on Tunare groups with many rangers who use their bows instad of blades and yes they do seem to put out alot more damage with their AAs and Trueshot. Personally I think that the ranger epic should be a sword with a chick effect that turns it into a bow.

Now that's an idea. I remember the cleric gloves that dropped from royals in chardok that turned into a 2hb weapon. Both the gloves and weapon are less than par with what's currently available, but the idea behind it was excellent! Incorporating that into the ranger epic 2.0 would have been an excellent idea. Yes, I know it already has a right click effect, but perhaps SOE can incorporate this into it somehow later, and maybe the same with other epic 2.0's. IE: shammy epic turns into a piercer, cleric shield turns into a high dmg undead bane weapon with a form of paly slay, etc, etc, you get the idea. Hell, make it an AA ability to change your epic back and forth. Anyways, I'm just brainstorming here, but I like the possibilities.

/agree, the only time i use my bow anymore is to TS on raids....other times i am always melee. bows are simply out dated and with the working click you out dps even trueshot by at least 25 points of dps.

I don't know about anybody else, but I would be more inclined to believe the 70 ranger over the bard on this subject.

Besides, when grouped with GoD and Omens equipped rangers, on my server at least, for the most part they only bust out the bows for TS.

This blade is awesome!! Those that are whining about this epic need to get their heads checked. This bad boy has everything a ranger would ever want in an item. How many ranger 1hs are there that have a 42/24 dmg dly? This thing has a +15 accuracy mod and a clicky effect that increases your chance to hit by 170% as well as upping your chance to crit. I would be giving up sexual organs for the effect and mods alone. 45 AC, 30 dex, 25 sta, 25 wis, 20 agi, +30 svs, 340 hp and 320 mana. What are you going to complain because there is no svs fire? Come on, you can take my 3 best items, add up all the stats on em and you still couldnt touch this. Plus there are 2 aug slots to boot. There is no endurance on it, so what! As rangers we only get 4 discs. Two have a refresh of over an hour, and the other two have a refresh of 15 min?? But they share the same recast timer so ou cant use one untill both are ready to go. I think I have said enough.

Kfizzle you are level 48 Max, what the hell you dont even have the right to criticize an epic, do you even know what the class needs? that's a 1 hander apparently with those stats, not to mention the clickable effects which aren't so bad. But mega gay isnt' the phrase to describe this epic. Mega gay is the phrase to describe your post, Loser lips.

Your comment + your sign = lol.

Either you care for levels or you dont. You should chose you opinion first, then post.

Calling someone a newbie based on their level (however immature it is) is not the same as being modest enough not to brag about their own level. True, for all we know, they could be level 1. Does it matter? Not if their basic idea is correct. Is it? Probably so.

I notice that none of your characters are post-50, so you, like the rest of us will never see this item most likely. Being as your Ranger is level 33, I doubt you understand what Rangers need or want form a high-end, post-Time weapon. I'm hoping that you simply posted that to be argumentative and a Troll, otherwise you seriously need to get your head checked and have someone sit you down and explain just what is good about this weapon.

Though, I would think that somewhere along the line Rangers should get an Epic Bow...?

Why is there no endurance on hybrid epics? :( we need it just as much as melees do :b And why would anyone except bards + enchanters need charisma? xD I mean, the use of charisma is minimal, if anything there should be more non-templated epics.. Great job Sony, deliver on your promises, but, too lazy to modify custom epics? :(

rangers dont need as much endurance as pure melees do.

rangers have two discs, both on 72 minute reuse, and no triggerable endurance using skills.

Well, its got mana, and hp. Guess they figured they only wanted two on each epic. either mana or endurance.

Big point, the charisma is awesome. It affects the success rate of cleric death save spells. I've death saved all the melees in a raid before, and when the hideous AOE hits, thats supposed to wipe you, a big chunk survive, to finish off the baddy. Would be nice to be one of the survivors.

This thing is not bad at all, even for rangers. There are other classes where the epics are way off. I think the rangers should be proud of this weapon, I know if I had a ranger I would want to get this. Also, I don't ,even want my mains epic 1.5 or 2.0, cause they are terrible. Keeping main a secret, no reason to complain anymore because SoE already hates that class, lol.
