Like a poster below said about the large crater.
I spent over a half hour foraging right at the mouth of the zone tunnel to Frontier Mountains with no luck (Skill 100). I then ran to the East edge of the large, long crater (not down in it). Got the 'Radiant Meteorite' on the first try. Dumb luck? Maybe. And then again, maybe not. Keep in mind, it is the site of a Meteor strike, so would it not make sense a piece of Meteor would be found nearby?

Where you are in the zone has no impact on your chance to forage this item.
So far, I've spent 5 hours trying to forage this with my Iksar monk with no luck. Spent about an hour in the Frontier Mts tunnel, another at the Dreadlands zone line, and the past several east of the crater.
What really makes this annoying is my guildmate got his for Trooper Pike in three forages at DL zone line.

Thanks for the tip of going just east of the comet crash site. Walked over there and first forage found me one.
Funny though, stood right ON the comet and couldn't even forage this. ;o)

My 39 ranger just foraged one of these in Burning Woods. Found it on the east side of the meteor impact site.

the radiant meteorite is forged in the burning woods took 2 hours for me to forge and was a pain to get there, if you have a higher lev druid of ranger you might be beter off using it not likey to get any help form the people hunting there.

Radiant Meteorite is also needed to make the Iksar Trooper pike.

Where can this be found in Burning Woods? Is it foraged or is it a ground spawn?
