The best use for this is in the primary slot when you are off-tanking something that you want to aggro but you don't want to damage.

Great for knights. Not so good for others.

Tank classes: If you are planning on replacing an actual shield with this item,DO NOT. Since this item is not coded as a shield, its AC does not increase the AC softcap, thereby making the AC on this shield approximately one-third as effective as the AC on an actual shield. That's probably why the AC on it appears to be out-of-scale with the rest of its stats.

In short, unless the current shield you are wearing has less than 45 AC, assuming it actually is a shield, and not just a secondary-equippable item, stick with what you've got.
