no, it doesn't. I'm fairly certain Slot 5, Type 30 is for the invisible augment for epic 2.5 quests. It's not "Really" there, but it allows for your epic to be upgraded when you finish the 2.5 quest.
Hmm..

Reading all the posts above, I have to wonder if it's been so long, that they mighta fixed this stuff... I've been using the clicky, which happens to last a while, and when i use it i dont get any aggro. The effect that makes it so that we get lower aggro from any Enthrall (mezz) spells we cast, that rocks.. So far Any time i've mezzed a mob, i haven't gotten aggro when it was woken up, and the Mem blurr effect didn't take hold.

I hope others noticed that when you cast int/wis/cha buffs, the crown sparkles, and the little orange rings go like.. everywhere.. lol it rocks

idk if that'll work for a picture...
stop whining

ok......for all the whiny chanters hwo think this is crap, think about this :

if your in a group/raid and you happen to get aggro not only do you have 1800 hps of padding, but as soon as those are gone the -900 hate makes the mob jump off of you. not only does it save your ***, it makes the tanks job o getting aggro back that much easier. the worse thing you could do as a chanter (besides not slow or mezz) is to be an aggro ***** and get you and the rest of the group killed.

They were whining about the fact that the effect of the hate reducer was AoE, and thus, before reducing hate by 900, it would add you to the hate list of mobs within the AoE.

They whined enough until it was fixed... If they were more cordial about it, it would be nicer... but people feel that sarcasm and biting comments are going to get people's attention faster.

And maybe, just maybe people have been coordial for so long and recieved no answers, that biting comments seem to work better.

Remember the old addage? "the squeaky wheel gets the grease".

We all wish it were not so, but if thats what it takes to get customer service out of companies you pay for services, thats what people wil do.

can someone say exactly what the change that was made is?
RE: Aegis of Abstraction
# Mar 22 2006 at 10:16 AM Rating: Decent
Essentially, Darknyss is correct, but I will attempt to break out the steps more clearly, so the problem and its solution can be understood:

Quote:
They were whining about the fact that the effect of the hate reducer was AoE, and thus, before reducing hate by 900, it would add you to the hate list of mobs within the AoE.

Here's how a fight would ensue:

-- Enchanter gets hit by any single mob (random aggro, Tash, Mez, etc)
-- Enchanter's 1800 HP damage soak wears off from damage taken
-- Staff's AE effect triggers to reduce aggro

Originally, at this point, not only have you been targetted by your original assailant, you've now just attracted the attention of all other unfriendlies in the area. This is because the staff effect never checked to see if the mobs were hitting you or not, it just performed the effect on them.

The fix was to make sure that the hate reduction only takes place on mobs that already have you as their target. To put it another way, target of target's health (HoTT leadership ability) must be you, the enchanter.

Didn't look very hard, did ya?

Bard - Blade of Vesagran - No fire.
Beastlord - Spiritcaller Totem of the Feral - No cold.
Cleric - Aegis of Superior Divinity - No cold.
Druid - Staff of Everliving Brambles - No cold.
Magician - Focus of Primal Elements - No fire.
Monk - Transcended Fistwraps of Immortality - No magic.

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. EVERYONE is missing one out of the 5 resists on their epic. It's not some grand conspiracy against enchanters. Knock it off already.

Agro
# Jan 10 2005 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
I'm gonna be honest, I am using the 1.5, Oculos of Persuasion and NEVER have I been in a situation that I got agro from "non-agroed" mobs when the AE went off. Being that I'm two fights away from this upgrade, I don't forsee it being any different. Now maybe, just MAYBE I have been lucky and never been CLOSE enough for that, but honestly I don't think that's the case, seems that there is a problem with the epic, yes, but it seems to be inconsistent, which I would think is a more severe problem than the one some of you enchanters seem to be having with the AE, just my two cents, now feel free to call me a noob, you flamers out there! =p

Enchanters already get a 2k rune that can be chained every 3 seconds or so, the effect on this thing really sucks. Hope it gets fixed soon. BTW whoever asked about beneficial spells that can land on mobs? Well, pacification may fall into that category, it can still agro on a resist, but when it lands it doesnt agro. It can be cast on a group member too, so pretty sure its beneficial. The effect should be changed to be an -1000 resist check pacification, it would be infinitely more useful than current.
Disappointment !
# Dec 21 2004 at 3:17 AM Rating: Default
Am i the one to really think we, enchanters have a "lesser" Epic 2.0 ? Well, not speaking about the numbers, I mean HP and Mana are the same as all, but i am really feeling the effect is way less interesting than other epics, and the one which surprises me the most is the magician epic.

We do have a 1800 rune for free every 5 minutes. They have an insane effect :

Effect: Primal Fusion
1: Add Proc: Primal Fusion Strike
2: Add Defensive Proc: Primal Fusion Parry
4: Increase HP when cast by 1000
5: Increase Max Hitpoints by 1000
11: Increase Mana by 12 per tick
12: Increase Hitpoints by 24 per tick

Ok, they can't handle 1800 damage but "only" 1000, they also have a mana regen, hp regen, the 1000 HPs are real "healable" HPs, etc... with the same recast !
I'm really really disappointed !

Congrats to everyone who got it. I also feel sorry for you. I know I will not do the quest the way it is.

The one chanter in my guild got it and banked it (well put it in his inventory bags) because it is the "Instant Death Stick". I can confirm that it DOES agro all the mobs in a fairly large radius. Wiped us all. The epic is essentually useless!

I'm confused about this post and hope someone can help me. I understand that the AE will cause lots of aggro by putting you on the hate list if you aren't there already. But it also says that this a triggered effect, so why would someone throw it in his bag? Why not just NOT use the effect until it gets changed? Are there that many better items that could go into an enchanters primary slot? I would appreciate any clarification about this issue.
Not so nice side effects...
# Dec 05 2004 at 10:22 PM Rating: Good
Umm err...

That uber pbae you are all so ooohing and aaahing about is a *detrimental* spell.
It is essentially a 100ft AE Boggle.

Any ranger want to explain to folks how you can pull with Jolt (Boggle is the SAME spell)?
If it wasn't agro before... it bloody well will be AFTER this triggers.
Our encs call it their 'AE Death Stick' and none of those who have it risk using it in raids where mobs can agro through walls.
It was supposed to be flagged as non-detrimental, but as far as I understand that's not happened.
I've also seen it with my own eyes how this got beaten down by a mob in KT near a quest npc.
Next thing we knew the mob that beat the rune down was on the druid who had been healing the ench, and that quest npc agroed our chanter and wiped the floor with her in a split second, before going back to where he was.
No one else in the group got agro - only the poor chanter and the druid, who was saved by the tank who managed to get agro back.
The ench never stood a chance and there was no way the tank would try to taunt the quest mob off her even if there had been time to do it.
Forget it. Encs got shafted with this thing.
Never seen our enchs get agro from mezzes either.
They get smeared all over the floor when they get resists tho. That would have been a far better effect. A resist reducer.

Grats those who got it, it's a ton of work I'm sure. But I still think Encs deserved a lot better, especially when looking at cleric and paladin epics.

Uhm.... where is the FR?

well 1st off from my memory of looking at stats of the other epics they all have 1 resist missing so its not so far out of line

2nd i cant think of a single benifical spell that hits mobs.. you cant heal them you cant buff them so its not just a matter of chaning the flag from detrimental to benifical and calling it done. the only way i see the code working is actualy if they make the ware off effect coded like rog evade to drop the chanter downt he hate list... altho this creates issues with spell interupts and stuff the way i see it so im not sure how they would be able to work it out. i understand and agree something needs to be done im just saying its going to be a lot of codeing and probably is going to take a long *** time befor we see a fix :(
RE: Not so nice side effects...
# Dec 30 2004 at 4:28 PM Rating: Decent
The fix would be simple surely, just add a mem blur element to the effect that equals any "dmg" thus any mob hit by it instantly thinks "WTF was that?" and just stands and doesnt aggro!
Boggle a mob then mem blur it quick they return to spawn, something along those lines should be easy to code
Click effect
# Dec 05 2004 at 12:13 AM Rating: Decent
Well, the effect would be nice if it actually worked. Unfortunately due to the way such effects are processed, it very rarely goes off when the rune fades. I'm not sure that's fixable without changing the spell engine. :(

Also, if it does go off, it aggros every mob within 100 feet, which can be... inconvenient.

I'll try to send in a pic of it, odd that they don't let you upload pics...

RE: Fade effect?
# Dec 03 2004 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
It does not do AE 600 damage, it merely decreases Hate by 600. Still a nasty effect, one question though with this epic...where is the fire resist?

My question is ... if it is a PBAE 600 Hate reducer...how is that really a good thing? If the MT is in range of the cast then wouldn't they also have hate reduced, thereby losing aggro?
RE: Fade effect?
# Dec 04 2004 at 4:20 PM Rating: Decent
No because detrimental spells, unless on certain pvp servers, can't hit your group mates. Besides, stuff that's -hate has no effect on players anyway.

The effect is similar to boggle or concussion. It reduces the amount of hate that a targeted mob has for the caster, in this case, the enchanter, effectively lowering his rank on the target's hate list. The effect will not wipe you from the hate list, however; and a kind of bad side effect of it being AE is that if the AE hits a non aggro mob, it will aggro it since it's a detrimental spell after all.
RE: Fade effect?
# Dec 04 2004 at 4:13 PM Rating: Decent
I believe, like most hate reducing spells/proc's...that it's for the caster only. It doesn't effect group/raid hate...just the agro of the, for this item, enchanter with this.
