think the piuc is big enough lol

anyways i think tht NBG is good to a point adn should be used in certain areas and certain items

k let sayw e r camping a tbb from guk
we have a 35 necro 40cleric 53 cleric (with is 45 war on dif acount) 45 war (that one) (btw cleric isnt in grp just there to make sure his war aint dieing) 40 ranger 41 chanter and a 37 mage

k now this is a 3k item and cmaping this (unlesu u have good puller) is not realy for exp
lets say the necro wins roll do u think he dervs it yes do u think he needs it no
now is hes an *** he will keep it no matter waht anyone says
but who needs it mroe the 40 ranger or the 45 warrior the 40 ranger the warrior has an ubber who can buy it easy
r u following what i am saying u have to look at each sit. diferent not all the same cnat say all item should go nbg if so u would have a thousand warriors cmaping the tbb and all dieing casue they have no one to nuke mes and heal and dot so you have to go roll on alot of stuff

but alot of time u hvethe usuals who r there all the time they get the magus grp sometimes andsometimes a tbb grp
i know that necro would have been fgbhndfj`kgh off if a SMR dropped and he lost roll to a warrior andthe warrior refused to just let the one swho needed the roll get it bah thew warrior could buy a fbss and a tbb with that cash forma SMR but he gives it to the saem necro who gave away a 3kitem to himbecasue he needed it now wouldnt the necro be just betain himself over the head if he had kept the tbb

my point is it should be roll on items (unless its a set grp of friend blah blah blah u know what i mena) and if the winner is a caster and the caster is a nice person he will give that tbb to the warrior/ranger and soemday the favor will come back (i have given away 2k+ to ppl not al at once but oevr time and one day i helped a poor littel gnome out when she was lost in akanon gues what she had a 60 necro logged her on next day proted to my location got somone to track em and just traded me 1k for being nice to her for no reason blew my mind since then i have always went out of my way for this is a game and the friendlyer ppl r the mroe fun it is) to them and in a greater quanity

so liek i said roll on stuff keeps the grps without 6 war and 6 druids and 6 chanters and 6 clerics all grped liek that but be nice for ist a game to have fun with
Amazing

I agree 100% with the person who stated NBG should only be used when with friends and/or guildmates.....and then ONLY up to a point! I have 2 mains....a 59 cleric and a 53 warrior. Now which char do you think everyone wants to join in the group when given the choice. DUH!
Consequently, my warrior has yet to ever be on a planes raid, and anywhere else that decent warrior gear drops has been very rarely traveled.
So when I'm somewhere and cobalt drops....DAMN right I want a chance at rolling on it. I've got all my hate and fear gear for the cleric. There is NO reason for me to spend 8+ hours there unless it's to accompany someone I want to be around...OR if I can also bring my warrior in and have them partake in rolling, even when he's not the active char being played. Or just maybe sell the uber item and buy the cobalt boots from the necro selling them in EC! what the heck difference does it make!!

First, to the poster above the one I am replying to. It's obvious you're greedy. Probably wrote that message out of rage, and greed. Can't spell, can't type, have extremely poor grammer.

Yes, a caster should be able to roll for their FBSS, just like a warrior should be able to roll for a shimmering robe. BUT NOT ALWAYS.

As the poster I'm replying to stated people many times know of your other characters one way or another -- you told them, they're in guild, whatever -- and will request the NEEDED class. If you're not "in the loop" you will NOT HAVE AN ABUNDANCE of clerics, pullers, main tanks, etc. So when in hate, the CLERIC COMES! I have a 48 monk, 51 necro, and 51 druid myself so I know *exactly* what this person is saying.

ALSO TRUE. Im a officer in a guild and it never fails. Get some level 18 jerkoff in the guild who is wearing a brigadine tunic complaining they need gear. Someone who obviously has begged their gear to begin with, and wants to beg now for the Ring of the Ancients (as an example). K, that is what is commonly referred to as BULLSHYT. NO character of mine (3 active, i've had FIFTEEN) have EVER had journeyman's boots, OR planes drops, OR velious tailored armor, OR velious quested armor, OR ANY HASTE ITEM. Why? Because of too nice people in my guild pressuring me to help people, and I'm 4 stone overweight at level 48 on my monk now because of it.

I help people who
A) play regularly
B) aren't greedy self centered dips that soak you for what yer worth, and then go to the next guild C) people I trust would help me if they were in a position to

All-in-All what I'm saying is this. level 50 such and such and I camped the Ancient Cyclops in the ocean of tears a few weeks ago. Such and such was there for THEIR RING, I understood this, came, made some exp and helped. A snide remark about a level 9 alt was mentioned. I have 2 RAID LEVEL characters who can use this quest, are mains, and have vested time into this camp. That level 9 alt WILL NEVER LOOT the ring of the ancients before me or anyone in a similar position.

The guy who I'm replying to posting about his cleric is in a position to allow their warrir to role, but ALSO TRUE, the raiding party likely knows this person ---- much more difficult to convince a pick up group you never met before down at the frenzy camp that your shaman needs a fbss when the warrior next to you is sitting in crafted head to toe, dual wielding ssoys (all very out dated gear). EXPERIENCED players make this sort of judgement call, NOT you freaks out there who just want to sell stuff so you can have 50 more mana.

This is what people are meaning when they say NBG with some exceptions. The exception is NOT so you can run off and have the sweetest looking little vah'sir beastlord when luclin comes out. If you have that attitude, I will go out of my way to kill steal you.. and believe me, one way or another, I can and will.

On one occasion before the cumulative party damage was put in, a wizard was KSing me and 2 friends in the gorge as we tried for out polished bone bracelets. Know what I did? Cleric, druid (me), and bard went ahead and MR buffed out the wazoo, let the wizard nuke.. it charmed him, and I let ALL my DDs rip that wizard apart. Cleric and bard soon followed suit. The group camping eye opposite of us cheered cuz this jerk was doing same thing to them.

Anyways I don't need to write a novel.. already started chapter one, so until next time.. if yer a greedy newb, or just scrouge, do NOT even think about coming near me. I've gone as far as to port people to opposite continents they pestered me for a port to goto and then logged. (yea, sucks huh? such a jerk I am.. guess what? when I want to move my necro I use my druid to bring him 200pp to buy a port. cuz druids and wizards have things to do to. believe it or not but spending a bubble of mana, zoning, possibly loosing your camp etc etc IS NOT WORTH IT FOR 10PP). Anyways..I'm done.

Caster's point of view
# Oct 10 2001 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
As a wizard its hard to go for things that drop uber rare weapons and not get a chance to roll for them. However, we dont usually have to roll for our spells either. I mean we cant use a weapon on our alts that has been denied to someone's main THATS JUST NOT FAIR!! But for all the melees that think we are all greedy jerks your wrong totally. Its just hard to see something that is uber drop and u not even get a chance to roll but all the casters should also understand that there are items for them that will be denied to melees as well.

This is also vice versa for tanks wanting caster gear that is needed by a caster in their group.

probably doesnt make since to post this here but I just get ticked off when people dont understand how hard it is to see something awesome go away with out a chance to get it.

THE ONLY GREEDY PEOPLE ARE NINJA LOOTERS!!!!

Lammies would be much better. At 30th level, you're starting to get up to where speed is very important for taunt and maximum efficiency with regards to damage bonuses, because damage bonuses are a set number, rather than a percentage. Even with haste, 25 delay weapons feel slow to me, and slow means less taunt. But if you want to hear the truth, I'd recommend Jade Maces over Lammies- their lower delay creates more taunt and more damage per minute (DPM), even when you factor in the extra 6 strength from the Lammies. Don't believe me? Okay, a bit of quick math.

A Jade Mace has delay of 18, while a Lammy has delay of 19. This means that a Lammy takes 5.6% longer to hit than the mace does. Let's assume that your DPM with the mace is 400 (just a nice round number for illustration purposes), and that you have no haste. The mace would hit 33.33 times per minute, doing 12 points of damage per hit. The Lammy would hit 31.58 times per minute, and to match the 100 points DPM of the mace, it would have to do 12.68 points of damage per hit, or 5.6% more damage per hit than the mace. It has to accomplish this increase in damage by adding 6 strength. This would be all well and good, except that you can't get a 5.6% increase in your attack by adding 6 strength. I ran this test on a damage calculator found at http://www.geocities.com/luthairsite/weaponCalc.html Using the defaults of no damage bonus, level 50, 200 skill, and 100 strength. With 100 strength, you would have to increase your strength by about 40% to increase your DPM by 5.6%! Think about that. Let's say you're a standard warrior with, say, 180 strength. 6 strength would be a 3.33% increase in strength- it would make no noticable difference in damage output or taunt. The mace does more damage over time than the Lammy, period.

Plus, on top of all of this, the Jade Mace is faster than the Lammy, which creates more taunt, because speed almost always beats damage for taunt. If it didn't, all warriors would be using their warrior-only Sarnak Battlehammers and such (30 damage / 40 delay), which mostly just gather dust as it is. Now, for all you lower-level warriors out there who love their high-damage, high delay weapons because they hit hard, I'm going to tell you a secret about high-level tanking...you're not there to do damage! That's right! Your purpose in life is to keep the mobs from hitting the people who are there to do the damage. I'm talking monks, rogues, wizards, etc. They can humble you in offensive output, when used properly- your main objective in offense is keeping taunt. The more taunt you keep, the more times the rogue can backstab without getting spanked. The more times the wizzie can nuke the mob for disgusting amounts of damage. The more times your cleric can heal you without getting jumped, which means less downtime, which means more loot and XP for all. The total damage of the party will increase much more by you keeping agro and allowing the damage dealers to do their thing than it will by you doing a bit more damage with a stouter weapon. Remember this when you pick out your gear- you can humble all other classes in defensive output, if you shop wisely. This is what you contribute to the group, so make the most of it. Of course, if the mob has a wicked damage shield, you should try to switch to a slower, harder-hitting weapon if you can do so and keep agro- you'll take vastly less damage from the DS that way. And if you're soloing, the rules are completely different, but few warriors solo above 30- it just takes too long to regain your HP, and you often won't have enough HP to get through the fight anyway.

What's that, I'm starting to stray a wee bit off-topic? Well, I can fix that- the GJBS is just too darn slow for a higher-level warrior who is interested in maximum efficiency to use unless he absolutely MUST have the resists, such as against Trakanon, for instance. Remember, each point of a resist does far more good than a point of strength, WHEN YOU NEED THE RESISTS- if you're fighting casters or dragons or such, a few points of resists can make the difference between life and death. There are also a few other possible exceptions to the info contained in this post; I'm speaking about the great majority of the time, and your mileage may vary. Thanks for reading my long post, and good journey to you!

A Lammy is *not* a good weapon pre 45 (ish) Until lvl 45, your on hand damage bonus is not large enough to counteract the relatively low 9 dmy on the Lammy.

Whilst Warriors are not there to do primaryy damage, the damage that they do is significant and not to be overlooked.

Speed *and* damage are factors in aggro, and if this were not so, all Warriors would be out there using Gnoll Hide Lariats or whatever. I don't know what the formulae for aggro are, but I'd put a fair bet that speed and damage are pretty even, which is why a level 30 Warrior with a babs, can hold aggro over a level 30 Warrior dual-wielding Lammys. I know. I've done it.

Also, with the lack of a damage bonus to your secondary hand, the Lammy becomes a terrible secondary hand weapon. Because there's no damage bonus on your secondary hand, what you're looking for there is dmg/dly ratio, because when you hit with it, you're gonna hafta hit hard.

A Wurmslayer (Or any weapon with a raio of under 2) would make for an excellent off-hand weapon, if only it weren't primary only (which is probably why it is)
Unbelievable

Who is to say that the Warrior (if there were any in the group) did not already have it? From the sound of it, they were just grouping, and not actually farming, so everything is up for grabs. Where do you get off saying things like this when you dont know the whole story?

Looted one last night. Was camped at the bridge near the entrance, clearing the bridge entrance, gate, cubby's (those elevated narrow parts on either side) and a couple mobs from the Courtyard. Pulled two shadows from the temple area (think it was temple...right side after goin through gate) and lo and behold one dropped. Looted it and tested, very nice weapon.

BAH! If there is a warrior IN the group that has weapons that are not better than this item it should go to them first... Who do you think kept the channeler alive? You can't tell me you don't want the mobs to drop faster and taunt off better. Warriors should have priority. NBG

this is the most silly comment i see people posting! oh, the warrior kept the channeler alive! oh wait, the cleric kept the warrior alive! oh wait! the monk pulled the mob so that cleric can help the warrior keep the channeler alive! wait, the channeler used his mana to nuke the mob so the cleric can keep some mana to help the warrior keep the channeler alive!!!

NBG goes only so far and it is utterly STUPID at times. if the mob drops only melee crap, why the heck should a cleric, wizard, enchanter, mage or anyone of those other classes bother to camp that mob with the warrior?!! HELLO! we have stuff we need to buy ourselves! oh, cobalt legs dropped! woot! off it goes to the warrior. BULL%*($! the cleric can use it to buy donals. the int casters can use the money to buy resist gear and other items to improve themselves. the only time NBG is practical is when it is a group made up of only friends that know each other and help each other out. if it is just a bunch of strangers, they better be doing /ran. for all you guys that preach NBG, i hope you guys stick with it when a 30k item drops and you have only 900pp in the bank. for the most part, very few people will do NBG on drops worth that much.

Because if they don't camp that mob with the warrior you will probably find that when they want to go camp something that drops uber gear for them, they will have NO tanks coming along to help. And don't try and tell me you can go hunt good caster drops without any tanks...

Again, if you let the classes that can use an item roll on it, I can just about guarentee you you're going to have a willing volunteer to come help you get some uber drop so you don't have to buy it for twice it's value.

These are some basic rules about who should get any item, though many acceptions apply.
1. If the sole reason the group is hunting in the area, is to get said item, a roll is required. Everyone isn't required to wait long hours just so you can get the item because you can use it and the Monk can't etc.
2. If party is a mainly exp hunting group items found should go to person who could make most use of it, equal circumstances call for a roll.
3.If party is hunting in the area for drops and 13wt, a roll is required most of the time accept for obvious reasons. (That level 30 warr is still wearin a bronze bp, there's an uber-twinked druid in the group who doesn't need the said items anyways.)
Now this aren't the only situations but something to think about before you go flaming people. Just my opinion, take it how you like.
No luck yet :(

I am told that it drops randomly off any of the ghost type mobs (i.e. shadows, apparitions, wraiths, etc), and though I've never seen any drop myself it seems to usually be the shadows.. and I'm told that it increases chances to go for the deeper spawns, but this is all second-hand info :)

RE: Cane of the Tranquil

It also has to do with the fact that the cane is war-monk only so it brings the price down a little, also with the rarity fact, if you go and kill necrosis in sebilis chances are you will get one of these, but it takes a lot of time to get a GJB

1.2 weight on any warrior/pal/rng 1hs is insane if it's on a moderate damage scale. (Which this is on a darn nice damage scale) Plus its 8 strength and 8 stamina on a single hand, then on top of that ten to two saves!

The stats are incredible, the ratio is nice, and it looks great. Hence the price =)

This really has nothing to do with the cane of tran. but i am 42 war (now), was 40 when i got the sword, on Terris-Thule went to COM for the 1st time one night with a monk friend 39. Anyways we grouped with a Cle 48 and two lvl 53 war's who had been there for 2 weeks for exp and items,so they say.Making GREAT EXP and having fun we didnt get to far into the place when we killed an Apparittion blue to me at 40 and went down fast. it was about our 8th kill and i won the roll by a landslide didnt take me more then 7 mins to get this sword and it went right in my primary hand. i love it. great stats very fast, not as fast as some but fast. looks cool and its a bragging right to boot.i have only seen maybe 1 or 2 others on my server so its pretty damn rare glad to have it!!Good hunting to everyone out there hope you have the same luck as me. BTW if anyone wants to trade something for this sword im on Terris-Thule names Brakus Stormweilder. dont think itll come cheap either hehe.

Here's the skinny:

I camped CoM for something like 3 weeks to get this thing, and it never fell for me. Granted, my camping was sporadic, but I was still there, if you know what I mean.

I reckon the best place for low level folks like myself to pull to is three steps from the zone line. I don't have the words to discribe the archetecture in there, so look up a map and you'll see what I mean. Also, the zone line is the easist place to split spawns, because there is a wall that the bad guys won't come around if you do the job correctly. One kinda has to hold the mob's hand to get it to the other players, but it's still worth it. Killer exp at 40, comprable to pre-nerf DL exp. I ran through about a blue an hour with steady pulls at 40 in a full group. I think this is one of the best examples of the dungeon exp bonus really shining.

The Green Jade Broadsword must be incredibly rare: I read somewhere within this very forum that the baddies drop a rare about 1 in 50. Don't believe it. Through the groups I've been in there, I must've gone through 2000 mobs and have seen NO rares. Also, just to take a look see, I camped (again, with a full compliment) deeper in the zone, about halfway in to be exact, and pulled goos and some of the higher level golems and skeletons and what-have-you for about a week. Still neither GJB nor stick.

I finally bought the damn thing out of frustration. I have to say, I'm very happy with it as a primary weapon with a Dragonhorn Yak in my offhand. Concidering I only got it tonight, and have but solo'd a few dire wolves, I can't really see the full spectrum, but I reckon i'll see tomorow.

As far as fasion goes, this thing is killer. It lookes just like a one-handed Ornate Rune Blade, or a giant meat cleaver, or however you want to describe it, and I can't think of a better weapon to stick in a 40ish Ranger's primary hand that would suit more, either fasionwise or ratio/stat wise.

All in all, killer sword.

If you are going to camp it at 38-42, definatly get in a full group. Myself and another Ranger (also 40 at the time) did pretty chill, laid back pulls for about 3 hours one night, but it get's rough trying to duo an even fight. Yeah. Even, right. Even fight my ***.

The key to pulling in there is to remember that little wall thingy right at the zoneline: it is very very easy to split all the doubles and triples you'll pull right there. Just park or snare one or two mobs (or don't: this'll work either way), and boogie 'round the corner to the haven of your fellow Misters, and no mobs will follow. Peek around, entice one, reel him in, and kill him. Works great.

Also, Rangers and Druids, harmonizing does wonders in this zone, however: beware the unlevel ground. When I was there, I couldn't get a harmony off over a waist-high wall. The spell would just stick to me. Rangers, Monks, and ShadowKnights are preffered (as always) to pull from deep in; anyone can do it from the zone line.

Also, on a side note, all the undead see through camo, and the golems see through invis undead, and the spells don't stack, last time I checked. You're kinda screwed if you decide to poke around in this zone and sneak/hide decides to fail at the wrong time.

I hope I helped!

heehee get the right group and it's more like one yellow in about 3 hours.

the best way to do CoM IMO, is me (40 cleric) and this guy named jinbo on the lanys t'vyl server. 2 people and an empty zone, and believe it or not, decently fast single pulls and kills (cause of the wall thing). but then people come and we feel sorry for them cause it's such a secluded zone, and xp slows down and whatnot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 13 2001 at 4:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Jinbo is the best monk, on Lanys anyways =)

Ok here is the real deal on this item. It drops off anything in CoM with the exception of Reavers and named stuff inside the castle. It's all random and as is the mobs that drop them. Thank you. Boulvi Methedras 50 warrior

Is this better than a Sarnak Skullsplitter, I was gonna trade my SS for this but my friends said i should since the skullsplitter is much harder to get than this. any suggestions?

I dont know about you server, but on Veeshan this weap is worth like 3 times that of the Skullsplitter. I would do the trade in a heartbeat!
question
# May 07 2001 at 3:18 PM Rating: Default
i take it weapons aren't visible when the MOBs are weilding them in CoM? I know some MOBs show the graphic of a weapon when they carry it, and some don't.
RE: question
# Aug 13 2001 at 2:39 AM Rating: Default
Braid, the reason awesome weapons are not visible because sometimes a warrior or monk could accidentally hit disarm, and probably succesfully disarm the mob, and there would go that valuable weapon.

To newbies, disarming means you don't get the weapon (oh imagine an easy way to ninja loot) nor can you loot the weapon when hes dead. It just dissapears into thin air, or if its a real person, goes into their general inventory (and I think to trick newbies, goes into a backpack if available).
Rarity

You could feasibly go and solo for this at 40ish, but when we raided CoM we got roughly 1 broadsword and nothing else for every 50-odd kills, so be prepared for a long camp unless you're mid 50s or higher and cutting them down in their dozens.
Solo?
# Apr 25 2001 at 1:00 PM Rating: Default
I am wondering if a level 49 warrior would have too much trouble soloing these things, or would he require a partner who can heal?

The warrior belongs to a friend of mine who recently lost his Wurmslayer to an unfortunate accident in Kedge, and I am trying to find some weapons to replace it.
Random

Just FYI, the entire zone City of Mist is random drop everything.
not exactly
# Mar 11 2001 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
The minor drops (including this) are random off random mobs.

The big stuff (like MotSS, Ornate Shield, Woodman's Staff) are from the named (Lord XXXs) in the zone.
Hey ROFL...

This pretty peice of work dropped off of a Shadow..Oh yeah fatboy..a shadow. You might want to spit your foot back out yo mouf sonny jim. They may be a more common item off the Reavers, But my know-it-all friend, Me and my group scored one off'n a shader just this evenin. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
This is a random drop...
# Dec 28 2000 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
from anything in the zone. The one I wield came from a shadow, and I've also seen this drop from a plaguebone skeleton.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 28 2000 at 9:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Lythe what makes you say shadows drop these? Have you actually seen a shadow that dropped one? The dude that said that reavers drop them is right and just wondering where you pulled that piece of information from?
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 23 2000 at 9:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You idiot, the black reavers drop these, they are lvl 50 completely resistant to magic, casts a incureable blindness and when you kill one, one of 3 things happen: Another Dark Reaver spawns, a Place Holder for a rare spawns, or you get the rare spawn lord something, so once you get through fightin one of these bad boys you have a chance to fight another one, or someone harder!
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 17 2001 at 7:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey bud need to pull your head out your *** and think some. They drop off random creatures. I have personally seen them drop from skelys and one shadow and one apparition. Its plain to see who the real idiot is im tired of people talking mad **** when they dont know what the hell there talking about. Oh btw do you think that everything drops off this clown or what do us a favor find a new game that has idiots on it like you and leave the rest of the people that have a clue to this one.

I just love morons like this guy who feel the perpetual need to trash people and prove their own stupidity by using their mouth as a **** fountain.... No, its not dropped by reavers and FYI reavers are not magic immune.

Anyone that feels the need to talk this way on a public forum can bite my hairy yellow butt.
