I need to get my hands on one of these so I can join AoE groups in Droga for Chardok faction. I tried to go into Droga and solo (big mistake) and it didnt work out to well.

For rogues needing Chardok faction, this weapon is about your only choice if you want to join an AoE group in Droga. If anyone knows of another rogue usable AE proc'ing weapon please reply to this post.

Need an opinion here
should i try to get this item and replace my Rev. whip?
Im currently using Main Rev whip 5/14 and Jagged mourning 13/25

for haste i use the Silver Chittin wraps

The added 10 AC on this weapon would fill up any AC lost for using the wraps (ac 5) and i could replace my TBB with a Cat girdle...

Hmmm, i think i just answered my own question ;)
Feel free to comment on this idea anyway
Thanks

1st Off, Replace that Rev whip ASAP. That weapon has dropped in hate ever since hate existed, and there are a PILE of better weapons that you can get for next-to-nothing. It's too fast, with not enough damage up front (trust me, I won it on my 1st Hate raid, and only use it in the <<<RARE>>> occasion that i need aggro (and don't feel like chain snaring to do so).
Ok, back on topic...
Unless you got your sig wrong, and you are on the FV server (where no much is no-drop) getting into Seb and getting to where this drops isn't just a walk in the park. (basicly zone into seb, with key, and hang a right and work your way back into the kitchen area, he pops at the very back)
It does have an AoE Point Blank proc though, so you still risk breaking mezzes, but have no fear of damaging yourself. If you've read any other forums on AOE procing weapons, you know I'm a fan of them, in the right situation, but If you want this as a permanent upgrade to the Rev whip, i'd look elsewhere, having an aoe proc on your main use weapon could get messy if you don't switch it out quickly should you need to. Centi Shortsword (12/25+stats), Lammy (9/19 stats), Crystalline Shortsword (12/24 stats) are all good upgrades to the spam whip, and will pull a LOT less aggro, and net you more damage in the longrun ;).

I personally would love one of these (grr never pickup groups in seb anymore) but it would go into the "Situational" bag with the Swarmcaller, Lupine Dagger, Sword of Skyfire, Samata Warstaff, etc.

Hmm, do you think ranger call of sky could overide this proc? or just be useless for this weapon or would the procs stack? I'm not too farmiliar with Call of sky since i don't have it yet :(, but if it can overide this proc, this would be a sweet weapon.

Jolting blades, call of fire (the upgrade to this spell), boon of the garou, and imp form are the only spells I know of that don't stack with call of sky.

Call of Sky stacks with all other weapons procs (atleast all the ones I've seen so far) and doesn't overwrite them. So using this and Call of Sky you'll have to the potential to proc none/either/both on any given hit.

The only thing I've seen so far that doesn't stack with Call of Sky is Boon of the Garou (44th lvl enchanter spell... which has it's own lifetap proc)

good weapon

Lots of people saying that the aoe makes this weapon crap, but from reading their comments it sounds like they dont have one, they just think they know all about it. The area that the proc goes is very very small, basically you have to be right next to them to hit them with the aoe. (it radiates from yourself outwards). No, you wont aggro the floors above or below you, so dont worry.

In seb i've used it without causing a problem, because most time mobs are mezzed a decent distance from you so it wont hit them. If a mob is mezzed beside you switch to a different weapon until the first one is dead.

Its pretty much equivalent to the venomous axe of the vellium brood, in several ways. Its got the 10ac, and it has a slightly better ratio (4% more damage output) and a slightly smaller proc (29 vs 85). Its got half the weight and is a little faster. If you know how to use it it's a great weapon.

Yea, this weapon is not a USE ALL THE TIME weapon. But its got some good points too. I'm a warrior and I like to mix up weapons for situations anyway, its nice to have stuff to use for certain situations. No, you don't use while grouped in dungeons with multiples or any where with mezzing going on. BUT, while on raids, soloing mobs, outdoors, or safe pull environments, IT ROCKS!! The ratio is solid, and the 10 AC is a god send, specially on raids when your killing uber mobs, then add in the fact its a mega tuanter because of a nice low damage aoe proc (which means the mob should be pissed and stay on you) and you have some great uses for this weapon as a warrior. Just use your head with it.

Ill admit its not useless bu the effect is a disadvantage, AoE generally = Bad but i can think of a few times i would use the weapon. Like when we pull 6 frogs in disco and chain stun AoE em this wweapon would be fun. But Whenever you have mobs on a floor above or below you you can aggroe then with AoE. Id like to have this weapon but it would probably spend alot of time in the EE bag. I would hell keep this put away on raids unless it was just uss fighting the boss mob.
Procs

I dont much like the rep Word of Pain and other AE procs have gotten. They're very useful spells. The only way you can get yourself and others killed is if you're a complete moron. Seriously, any melee with any competence can recognize a situation where the weapon wouldn't be useful, and switch out. Example: Say you're fighting in Sebilis. In the Chef room. With a Fayguard. Just a single frog. You're fighting along fine, proc or three, nothing but that one frog is getting hit. Another frog pops. Its relatively easy to at least pick the weapon up out of your melee slots and onto your pointer before the enchanter even notices the add. I have a Painbringer, and I use it all the time. However, when an add comes by, and we have an enchanter or bard, its replaced by an EBW almost instantly. AE spells on weapons are very good procs. Its just that you HAVE to know how and when to use them. Like a bow. Would you stay back from combat just to pluck your bow at a few frogs? Hell no, you'd get in there and get your hands red! Use the right weapon for the right occaision, and you'll do fine. Besides, 10/21 with 10 ac? Little bit better than a yak. Just a tad.

I agree. Sure, AoE is something you have to use with care, and everyone has a horror story about an AoE spell breaking mez and causing their whole group to get killed (Well, I do, anyways :P), but there are times when AoE is not only not dangerous, but desireable, as well.

I am, obviously not at the lvl it takes to get this item, but I've used my own AoE spell in some situations to taunt everything onto me, so that the rest of my party could escape, or to get several mobs off a caster. And even as a Ranger, I have several different weapons on me at all times, and in the event that something like this would cause harm, 99.9% of the people who could get ahold of this will be smart enough to put it away.
Limited use, but not useless
# Jun 19 2001 at 11:13 AM Rating: Default
My learned colleague above has a point. There are limited situations where this blade will be useful; most of these involve creatures that are (a) alone, (b) resistant to the mesmerize line of spells, or (c) outdoors. An example that leaps readily to mind is Kael Drakkal; the proc doesn't have a huge range (it's a point-blank area effect, meaning it's centered on you) and giants can't be mezzed anyway, so you may as well have at it (and that 10 AC can't hurt, can it?) The exceptions are when you are fighting in an area where the proc could affect something behind a wall, bringing a train on your group (something you really don't want to do in Kael!)

Not every encounter is pull 3, mez 2, fight one. Indeed, there are plenty of situations where AE fighting is quite viable (ever seen an all-caster group blasting stuff in Chardok? I have... as a tank, I've never felt so useless in my life.)

Besides, for pete's sake, give us tanks SOME credit. We know when it's a bad idea to AE things... it's not like we have only one weapon in our possession, and when it's time to mez, we have the good sense to put this thing away.

this is the worst possible weapon by this level. the proc adds almost no damage bt it will manage to get everyone in your group killed. random ae spells are garunteed death in seb.

That is the best weapon i've seen so far.
Very nice ratio and 10 ac plus a proc. You can't even begin to argue with a weapon like this. If I was a 55+ war I'd be grouped by this chef guy all the time for this thing. Even a rogue would benefit hugely if it isn't primary hand only. Remember you only backstab with primary hand =)

Wow. Good blade =)

# Dec 22 2000 at 9:59 PM Rating: Default
If I was a rogue, the last thing I would be wanting to do is to taunt all the mobs on me and, as afore mentioned, wake up mezed creatures. AE will decrease its value because of it being less usable in dungeons. But if you know your dungeon really well, I could see if good for a warior or a pally (who want to keep stuff off of the casters, and non-primary tanks anyway)

You've never seen what an area affect proc does in a crowded dungeon, have you? Trust me, the trains you can cause in Guk with a painbringer are not to be believed, and no one likes a broken mez. Still, on a raid or something where there's only one target in range, it's a good blade.

Yah I would just break this out on a raid where its ok to do ae stuns and nukes and use this effect, breaking mez is a pain sometimes.

In my defense I was only lvl 45 or so when i wrote the post =P

what lvl dose the weapon proc though?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 21 2001 at 8:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Who cares what lvl it does proc at its no drop, so u wont get it till your lvl 50 and probably not even then. And id have to say it WILL proc by the time u obtain this thing.
RE: lvl proc
# May 17 2001 at 6:56 PM Rating: Default
You don't have to be lvl 50 to get this... I see Rangers lower than lvl 30 on in Seb, or get on in Seb after they hear that Windsaber dropped and no one needs it.
RE: lvl proc
# Jun 03 2001 at 9:47 PM Rating: Default
Umm a if your lower then lvl 45 you cant get this because the spawn is so deep in the right side of the dungeon. You have to go by gang, and arm bar to get there(
