From June 21, 2017 Patch Notes:
Access to Asylum of Anguish - A Cunning Dragorn in the Sewers of Dranik and the Insidious Dragorn in the Dranik Catacombs no longer have placeholders and are now guaranteed to spawn in all three versions of these instances. They now carry six signets, but will not respawn.

when you request the instance from the grand historian he tells you names of mobs you may see in the zone
catacombs a: dragorn marshal greshka and high enchantress zy'chia
catacombs b: elite overlord vijaz and high sorceress vi'tara
catacombs c: master of the watch and elite pixxt k'illiga

only the c version can spawn the signet mob, but a lot of ph's before you will see it.
invis
# Mar 07 2008 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
i found the best way to get to the signet mob is a combination of invis and undead invis. which can be accomplished by invising yourself and haveing someone else give you an undead invis.
that way you have both invis up at the same time and get by any mobs on your way to the signet mob.
how lucky is that?

Duo 75 -Cleric and Necro
# May 20 2007 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
Tonight (May 20, 2007) I duo'd this guy and it was suprizingly easy.

75 Cleric 13K hp / 12K mana (Anguish or better gear)
75 Necro 8K hp / 8K mana (store bought gear mostly)

The trick is to get the "c" version of the mission and get past 2 SI rats.

The first rat is simply not passable, so kill it and the bat that follows. Easy with Cleric using ward of reprisal and vow of valor. Cleric pulls, heals himself, necro waits until argo is firmly established then dots and sends pet.

easy

The second rat runs around the "square hall" (the hall splits but ends up at the same point and is square, sorry did not get a loc). Watch carefully to see rat is not at the entrance to the hall, goto the right side, peer around the corner just enough to see the rats name, wait for rat to path away, head down.

easy

Now in PH room. Park right behind the PH (or as luck did for me right behind named). Cleric casts ward, heals self, necro dots, FDs, pet attacks - get signet.

easy
A working strategy

First, I did this 4-boxing a 72 paladin, 72 shaman, 72 druid and a 58 magician I had on tow for CotH-ing guildmates once I got my 3 drops for the 72s. Having the mage with me actually proved to be a great advantage figuring out a useful strategy. Coming to the text below took hours of various approaches, and quite a few evacs. Even a single death for the poor little mage :)

Ok, strategy:

What you will need to follow this strategy:
a. A fixed invis, no need for IVU. I used druid's 22 minutes fixed duration Shared Camouflage.
b. A slower
c. A snarer
d. A paladin tank
e. Patience, lots of it :)

1.
Setup your group outside entrance to Catacombs (just up hill from Tiorpat). Have one group member stay by Historian and request instances by saying "catacombs" to him. There are 3 different, and you get a random one. There's an "a", a "b" and a "c" version. You need the "c" version. Now to find out which you got, zone in one toon and do a "/who all <toon-name>" to see if you got the zone named "dranikcatacombsc". Note the "c" in the end of the zone name. Guild tool won't reveal this, use /who all. Once you got the C version, zone in, it's safe.

2.
Getting past the first see invis. The only see invis mobs in the zone are rats. They are undead. The first one is near zone-in, and if you proximity aggro it you will get only that and one bat. Kill them both.

3.
The next rat, how to get past it without killing anything or breaking your invis. Look at the in-game map. You will see a round room apprx. in the center of the zone. There is another round room which is split in two halves, that is not it. You need the circular room in the center. When you regard the path you have to go, notice a small rectangular area with a pillar in the center, just north of a long hall and just south of the junction leading to the split round room. This is where the next rat lives, and he paths a little north and a little south, going through the small square room on its LEFT (west) side. There are other roamers also pathing this way, and all of them go on the west side of the pillar. The east side of the pillar, VERY close to the pillar itself, is a safe spot, since the geometry helps to keep you out of sight from the roamers. Now, since the first see-invis rat is still dead (20 minutes spawn time) run the mage into the long narrow hall before rat room and target it, run back and have the shaman assist to get the rat in target, then cast Acidious Vision (cast sight, see through target's eyes). Run mage back to near the hall and wait until shaman can see the rat walks down the ramp north of the room. This is when you run the mage to the safespot. Next, when the rat moves south into the hall, slip quickly further north with the mage and turn right down the ramp and left and continue north. Nothing else see invis here, so you are safe. Run into the big round room and right along the wall. You will see "a noc scout" (the PH) or even the named if you are lucky.

4.
Move to campspot. Next you want to take a look at the PH/named and the walls nearby. Stand in front of the named facing the wall. You will notice two pillars of sorts sticking half way out of the wall, on the left side of the PH/named as you watch. The corner behind the leftmost of the two pillars all crammed up into the corner of the wall and the pillar is another safespot! This is where you put your mage for CotH-ing the rest of your group in. Make sure all are shrunk before you do. CotH your group and keep them invis.

5.
Setting up for the kill. Move casters into the corner BEHIND the PH/named, all crammed up right behind him. Kill your pets at this point, they will push the mob undesiredly or worse, position themselves foolishly and attract attention from roamers and static mobs in the room. Remember, you are fighting at the very thin borderline of aggrorange. One foot in the wrong direction and you bought yourself a train. After moving casters all crammed into the very corner, move the pally to face the corner and stand as close as possible to the corner itself - between the PH/named and the corner. Pally must have his back to the PH/named.

6.
The fight itself. Start the fight with a no-damage stun from pally. It's a fast cast and will stun the mob long enough to fire the next longer cast powerful knockback stun. This is why you have your back to the mob, because the next big stun (I used Lesson of Penitence) will push the mob into the corner with the casters. Before you stun first time and break invis, make sure no roamers are near you, wait for them to path away. Now simply slow, snare (don't foget LOL) and whack away, crammed up in the corner like this. You will be just out of aggro range of any other mobs.

7.
Rinse and repeat. When the mob dies it will fall into the wall, so you need to type "/tar a noc scout" for example and next type "/loot" to loot it. Once done, buff up again and make sure buffs last beyond next 20 mins, beyond next fight. Invis up BEFORE the PH/named repops (20 minutes spawns here, use a timer). Now find a book or magazine and sit back and enjoy the time, sooner or later you'll have your signets.

Must say this baby is proving somewhat of a challenge.

Regardless of whether you use the "tracking" method to see of Named/Ph is up, getting there and fighting at the PH is certainly a test of even the most well rounded groups.

The first problem you encounter is the second SI Rat. He wanders up the west side of the "Square" corridor, at the top end of the first long room. This room has 3 pairs of Stoneworkers, set opposite each other, along each side up the length of the room. Plus there are 2 roamers that stroll up this room, and into the square where the rat is.

Thing is this whole room has huge agro range and there is nowhere to switch from Invis to IVU. The rat also has huge agro range and can attack you even if you are in the middle of this room

We have tried charging the rat and pinning him on the NW or NE corner of his square and burning him asap, then re-invis. This has worked a couple of times, but more often than not, one of the 2 roamers from the long room get to you before the rat is dead and you have re-invised. They then bring the top stoneworker for added entertainment, and if one of your group wanders a little further north, some also add from the next room. Evac has been used on a number of occassions at this point. Dealing with 4+ mobs in a very tight area does cause problems, though we usually manage to kill the rat, thus making the run from the ZL a little easier.

Ok so you have now managed to get past the rat and have made your way to about 4.00clock in the circular room. Your PH/Named is here.

Sure press him against the wall, cos again the room has a huge agro range. Only needs one member to move slightly away and chaos again. As yet, I havent managed to kill the PH without 3 adds joining at some point. Thing is, its your healer that starts getting hit, and it's impossible not to move a little. This as yet always agros the Ikaav at 1.00clock, or the first of the 3 mobs that roam up through the centre of this room. Trust me, after several hours and several attempts it's not impossible to have 4+ mobs all happilly wanting to kill your healer. Rooting the mobs is not really an option, becuase of the lack of room to move away. This room does have a large agro range.

Ok, so the obvious answer is CC, though finding a chanter in pok for c6 is hard, getting one for this task is not going to be guarenteed. And I guess that if you are Anguished geared, its probably a cake-walk. Thing is if you are anguished geared, you shoudn't really be here, and those that are here, are still to see anguish.

After many various attempt and strategies, sometimes successful, sometimes not, several evacs, and several wipes, I have decided that the best time efficient strategy is probably the simple one.

Start at the beginning and kill the mobs as you go, moving up a little bit further each time. Clear the way, clear the circular room, then set up camp at about 3.00clock and kill re-pops as they occur.

If you do get in trouble on the way to the PH/Named, you can all leg it back to the ZL. Though of course CC would be easier cos you would have room to root and move.

The time taken to invis, kill, evac, rez, med, invis, try again, succor, rez etc etc probably takes as long, if not longer than this method, plus you get to kill about 25 level 69 mobs. Beats spamming the task giver endlessly to get the named up, only to struggle to get past the rat, or die at the hands of the Named and his adds!!

Be prepared to camp it for some time if all your group want the ring. Have seen 3 named in a row, have seen 4 PH in a row. My guess is 3 rings every 2 hours.

Thing is, even after many failed attempts and only a few signets gained, this task is proving to be a challenge, and in a perverse way, fun.

Hope this adds a little.

Actually you can get by the rat without having to fight it and worrying about aggro. Carry invis pots and ivu pots whether you can cast invis or not. casting will kill you. You can levi by the first see invis rat at then entrance. Thats no big deal. When you get to the second one its all about timing. You wait for most the roamers to be out of the hall. the rat will wander out to the golem part if you hide on the right side of the square where he walks out and cast an ivu pot he wont see you run down out of the square box continuing toward the sig guy casting a regular invis potion (best to have these on you potion belt, will save you lots of time and frustration) Then you can invis the rest of the way to sig guy. Set up you can pin the mob in the tiny little cubby he is next to, shrink your group and try to have pets set up to push him in the wall with you guys. Its kinda hard without a full group and CC if you cant get that down. I usually box this sham/necro so its pretty easy for me. Good luck all

I got this instance. Zoned in and the PH (a noc scout) was up. Killed it waited for respawn.. another PH. Killed that one...waited for respawn another PH.

Uhm what's going on here? This has been the hardest signet for me to get by far. From even getting to the camp, now I'm here and the darn dragorn won't pop.

Fastest way to do this for a group, if you have a tracker.

Tracker and group moves to instance entrance except for group leader who stays behind to get instance from Grand Historian. If Historian mentions "Master of the Watch", you've got the right one. If not, drop instance and request a new one. Fast way to do this is for group leader to make 2 hot keys with three lines each of: /taskremove <groupmember>. I say two hot keys because whenever I tried to put more than three of those lines in one hotkey it tends to ignore at least one of the commands.

Once you have the correct instance, tracker zones into see if the signet-dropper is up or his PHer, "a noc scout." Yes, the instance can start with the signet-dropper spawned. This is the key to doing this fast for multiple people. Instead of tediously camping the spawn and waiting 20 minutes each time for a chance to get the signet-dropper, you spend a minute or 2 getting a new instance.

A druid needs to move to the top of the second room ("room", not cubby or corridor) to be in track-range of the spawn spot. Although nothing seems to see invis in this room, I have gotten aggro by stopping in the middle of this long (north-south) room so there may be a mob on the side who sees invis but usually doesn't since players always run through this room at top speed. That's why I suggest moving to the corridor just north of this room to check track safely.

IF the signet-dropper spawns, zone in your group, invis up and move to him. Read other posts for where he is, it isn't hard, the zone is small. The key to fighting him and I can't stress this enough is to cram your entire group basically into the 2-foot area around him. The tank should face him so close the dragorn's bad breath encompasses the tank's head. The rest of the group should be behind and to the side but close enough to smell the dragorn's BO. REAL CLOSE. I would advise against making any pets unless your group is so weak you shouldn't be contemplating getting into the Citadel of Anguish anyway. ***** the pets, no matter how well-handled by their owners they will knock back the target enough that you WILL get adds and, as you can tell from reading some of the frustrated posts here, the adds here are awful.

I suggest waiting for the two wanderers who move up and down the room to run their route. This gives you several minutes to kill the signet-dropper without any chance those two will add on their own or assist-add any of the statics. Tank engages the signet-dropper and pins him against the wall. Everyone else nukes. Remember NO DAMN PETS! The signet-dropper is a caster but he hits no harder than the zone trash so ultimately that makes him an easier kill. DECIDE IN ADVANCE WHO GETS THIS SIGNET. Someone in their excitement after the kill will move around without invis and you WILL get 4 adds in camp and because everybody's breathing sighs of relief after the win and congratulating each other on a job well done you won't be ready for the adds. The pre-determined winner loots his signet and if you were wise enough to include a druid as tracker he evacs the group. Leader removes everyone from task and everyone either zones out of waits for instance to boot them. Leader invises, runs back to Historian and gets new instance.

Rinse and repeat till done.

Signet-dropper spawns about once in 4 tries so camping him will take over 6 hours to get a full group their signets. Doing it as described above could cut this time down under 2 hours, maybe even to 1 hour if people move and kill fast. AND NOBODY MAKES PETS TO GENERATE A WIPEOUT!

Oh, and SNARE this mob cuz he does run. Nothing else will assist him so you can burn him down with range attacks if he runs without problem but then you have to loot the corpse surrounded by 8 or so bloodthirsty trash mobs and this IS a problem.

While I am camping this for god knows how many times now for various people, I figured I would give you the hot tip, run in invis charge the ph press him into the wall up against the pillar or inbetween the two pillars. the whole group has to be at this point if your in need of a group. Spreading out beyond the two pillar point will cause your group to encounter at least 3 mobs and as many as the whole room + 4. Simple logic, Press into the corner and then work ccw on visible mobs to clear the room. Waiting for pathing to occur of the 2 ukuns and the one prelate.

Tried this and wiped 3 times today. Third time we had bard chanter for cc bst dru and sk the only one that lived was sk cause he fd'd. then with dru and sk went to the back corner and killed the Ikaav got her down to 25% then room went aggro on us. Do you have to pull the PH into the back hallway by chance after you take out the Ikaav?

Ok, 1... There is no need to shout. Yes we all hate signets, nobody LIKES to do them. 2, his loc is +1140, -85. There is only 1 room in catacombsc that is almost completely circular. He is on the Southwest wall of that circular room.

Also, I have heard that he only spawns if everyone in instance is lvl 70. Is this true?

Negative, got this sig last night and our Monk was not yet 70. He spawned about 3 of 8 spawn cycles for us. Once back to back, guess we were lucky. And we got a random named that dropped nice BP, augmentable.

Sokay, so after taking a group into this instance, and wiping 3 times, myself and the warrior(monk 575 aa's, time geared, and warrior, 600 ish and qvic geared) and an afk bard kept the instance up and farmed this guy in Instance C. you can invis all the way to him,and if you position yourself behind in the corner and stay there, you won't get an adds. PH is on a 20 min timer. with a little practice, this is an easy farm.

ya, one of the easier signets.
Sk, cleric, and necro were able to do it easy.
Cleric and necro were perpetually afk, sk killed ph's until it popped. The 3 of us was overkill, but need 3 to get mission.
Cleric was time/qvic, necro was run of the mill, might have had some time gear. SK was me. Time gear and random stuff.

The PH for this is A Noc Scout.

Tracker should be able to find him. The Room he is located in is a bit Tricky, but if you set up on the far right side of the large Circular room next to the Ikaav and pull it, youll get only 2 if you wait for wanderers to pass, then you can pull the scout..

Also, Updated maps have his Loc marked.
