This reply is to Aputate & Darknyss's posts below regarding why put a Tier 1 drop item on a mob that has better drops then the Tier 1 quest itself. You both are not answering the fairly obvious question here....THIS IS TIER 1 so there must be a TIER 2 or higher yet. You would basically do this quest just to move on to Tier 2 which is so much better.

Another obvious answer is if your in a group and only the caster leggings drop, then a Warrior wont take them so has the option of moving on in the Tier 1 department.

Just my 2cp, nuff said!

The Tier 1 and Tier 2 quests are not related. The Tier 1 quest is for casual players, and Tier 2 is for Anguish raiders.

And the Tier 1 chest and leg drops only on raid mobs which causal or non raiding characters aren't going to be able to do. Plus the fact that the Tier 1 stuff isn't really as good as the EP gear.

Yeah, but that's the point, to gain Tier 1 and at a time go to Tier 2.

Tier one is not bad for CASUAL PLAYERS. As a casual player, you won't be doing EP gear which is actually high-end, or at least, takes lots of time raiding, which some people have no time for.

The legs and Bp are not meant for Casual players, as you can see, but if you get everything except the Bp and Legs, and aug them all with Flameshield or Ore Stone of Strength augs, they'll be pretty suitable, I think giving you around 2k or almost if you get maybe a GM Legs and Bp auged.

Anyhow, this is some of the sweetest gear for a casual player + there are some casual players that do small raids, like Lirah isn't too difficult, one of my friends farm him a little with 20-30 peeps or whatever when people are on at the time. *grin*

Contrary to what you might think the only pieces worth the trouble of doing the factioning for are the BP and the Leggs, the rest of the pieces are minimally better than ornate and lack clickies, effects, and foci that the PoP ornates had, and those are all easily obtainable with a single group or via the bazaar.

Tier one is supposed to be the one groupable stuff. However as always thru just plain stupidity the only actual upgrade pieces require raids and not easy ones either, and these can't be sold or MQ'd.

At least for plate classes, the Tier 1 armors are a huge upgrade to the ornate armor set and very well worth doing. Seeing as how you can do all of your factioning quite easily while grinding exp, anyone who passes up this gear due to the "difficulty" and time involved for factioning, is an idiot. As well, many servers have an "open raid" system, so get involved, put in some effort, and organize your own raid to take down the BP/legs mobs if you aren't in a guild capable of doing those mobs.
BP and legs from raids

This is commensurate with POP ornate armor. when pop first came out the legs and BPs could not be earned thru single groups.

leggings were easily obtainable though

You could also BUY all of the tier one pieces in PoP, but these you cannot.

Also compare how many mobs there are that drop the pieces? The OoW tier 1 pants drop off of only 3 mobs, the OoW tier 1 chests drop off of just 2 mobs, and none of them are one groupable in any of for any level gear range. All of the rest of the OoW tier 1 quest pieces and all of the PoP tier 1 patterns/molds drop of at least 5 or more mobs. Even back then there was at least one mob that was single groupable at some point in progression. These aren't.

this dropped last night in rcod by the bridgekeeper. i now have all 7 tier 1 items
Everyone rolling on the same pieces.
# Nov 18 2004 at 8:23 PM Rating: Default
OMG, why do they pit the classes against each other for a single roll like that?
RE: Everyone rolling on the same pieces.
# Nov 21 2004 at 12:32 PM Rating: Default
A better question is: why would they put a needed drop for quest legs on a mob that drops leggings better than the quest reward? The plate and silk leg drops off the hivequeen are clearly better than the quested legs.

Confusing and frustrating.

Ummm, maybe because the mobs do not drop the items for every caster able to use them? Smiley: clap

Allowing all classes to go in on a roll is nice, rather than having class specfic items rot because a specific class already had better.

The question still remains. Why put the teir 1 Omens of War quest drops on mobs that have better droppable gear.

hmmm... Dragorn City Embers for teir 1 legs or

Murkchitin Greaves
Murksilk Leggings
Burnished Leggings of Woven Cable
Protector Stitched-Hide Leggings

Yeah, please tell me something other than a scripted raid mob drops the piece for the pants. All the other drops for all the other pieces seem to be one-groupable...
Not only her...

Surely this item drops from more that just this one mob.

If anyone has any insight to this please post.
