Just got one today and thought I'd put of a picture of what it looks like equipped for anyone who is curious. Doesn't look as cool as I'd hoped, but it is still a very nice shield.

Its very probable that VI actually researches these boards to get customer feedback on new items in the game. That being the case, this post is specifically designed for VI eyes.
In regards to the bash skill, it does indeed require a shield for Paladins and SKs (unless you're an ogre I think). Anyway, if it doesn't already exist, have you considered a shield with a random proc? Granted, stun requires a save roll, so adding a bash-triggered proc to a shield would require an additional save roll. Maybe thats out of the question. It would be a unique feature to an epic-style shield though.
I wouldn't think that class balancing would be an issue at levels required to obtain such an item. But it would be nice to have a shield that could random a stackable self-only hp buff, or a party buff for that matter.
Don't get me wrong - clickable is nice, but randomed would add an entirely new dimension to the bash skill.
Not to mention that it would be a highly sought after item that would maximize the utility of your customers and thereby generate revenue during a time of slow-down in the American and world-wide economy. Adding an item such as this to your 'matrix' would almost certainly be a pivotal point in the upward mobility of VI as a viable software producing company. Perhaps similar concepts have never made it out of the boardroom, but I think you know its time has come.

PS - no one is stopping you from putting a random proc on warrior-only bracers either (also used to bash). I'll give you a moment to clean the milk out of your nose...

Valuable concept, what you changes you make with bash will effect the pally/sk, but also the warrior you're trying to be. Perhaps you aren't need as much as a warrior on raids, but can a warrior root? How much more fun do you have playing a pally? If the answer isn't lots than you should make yourself a warrior. If it is then what the problem. I think very performs a very active and good job at keeping things balanced. I really do. It just isn't always balanced the everyone expects. Not everything boils down to the raids. And flat out, the games get's a little boring when you do not add in the multiple strategies of multiple classes. Nuker, healer, tanker, gets just a little old after a while...
bash needs a fix

As a Paladin i must say this is one hella of nice shield . That said lets get down to the rat killing.. our class will never be up to speed IMHO untill the day VI wakes up to the fact that our BASH skill is and has always been less then it should be. (for the unwashed) what is bash ?
bash is the skill to stun and do damge to one's
target by use of a shield, sounds easy huh?.
well its not , first off its slow and there is no way to make it faster its timed it has a set delay. it also has a set max damage at lvl 53 with my skill maxed i have never had a bash hit for more then 20 points. Also the stun is random and not bassed on the damge at all, i have stunned with one point of damge and not stunned with 18 points .(yes i know for VI to start making sense would in fact scare us all at this point ) about the only thing that does work with this skill is the spell casting interrupts
most but not all times a good paladin with a shield (any shield will do) can keep a caster from doing his job to any great effect even in the high end game.
Paladins are more then this, and our skill at bash should reflect that so how to fix this ?
thats easy ....ok it only took me about 20 lvl's and over 100 days played to come up with something that would work
bash should = level + the AC of the shield = the base damge that a bash attack could do, note that the skill check done as part of all attacks would then come into play ,ok this would work for players till about lvl 12 and then it gets out of hand rather fast so post lvl 12 the way it would work would be like this bash= 1/2 the players level+ the ac of the shield - the wieght of the shield
ok the first thing to be said is this makes way to high a damge base right ?.. not at all remeber the delay is not something we can change its a set deal and then there is the skill check as in all attacks. what this would do tho is make the use of a shield more then just a RESIST item .
As the game stands now you use a shield why?
to boost stats your weak in due to class/race
or to boost temp stats becouse the next mob is known to have a nasty fire spell.
Paladins and ok SK's (evil little buggers) can be a great help to a group and a raid but lets face facts we will NEVER be a NEEDED class.
why?. easy we cant tank long enough oh we can tank sure but only for a short time and not all that well in the high end game even counting the new changes its not enough. you will never see a raid called off due to no pally/sk being there. but you see many called off due to no warrior being on hand ,also the clerics in the end game most offten wont even think to heal you and consider it a true waste of mana to spend it on a non-tank /melee. its easyer to rez you then to keep you and the main tank alive .

no = sure as damge output goes the more we do the more some one wants us..(WRONG) for bash the more damge you do the more you get of ...NOTHING.. yes nothing not one single thing ..WHY? becouse bash is a very ify thing will a bash of 10 stop a caster? if the dice are in your favore yes but the same is true for a bash of (1) point . thats called a skill check you had great skill but the blow was off and didnt land for much damge but it did stop the spell casting <good job> .
yes = bash can help a paladin or SK to be better group mates and raid members, how ?
with a higher damge per bash our chance to stun would go up and thats about the best we can ask for? (wrong ) if the delay was lowered then yes we would have a greater chance at the stuns .
more damge for bash bassed in part off the shields AC would allow us a small increase in damge over time but most fights last about 4 to 6 bashes .. not too great a time and even if we hit for 40 to 60 damge thats not any great amount when the mob has 32k HP to start with and the attack is slow enough already that our hate list standing is still where VI wants it to be after all your using a one hander not your high damge 2 hander . but its alot more then just the numbers
there is also the mind set of a Knight ( yes i know VI hates us all and has only love in its heart for the necro / monk pukes) after all look what they did to our gods :)
the mind set . Knights use shields / Shields are sexy / our shields are a good way to help us get close to some but not all the stats a warrior/ranger has but its not even close to duel wield . if our slower then poured honey bash skill could do more damge it would at least help the player keep his last few unpulled hairs on his head .

Of course I didn't read the whole post you made but I do think you said your bash was maxed and you haven't hit for more the 20 yet. Well I realized this is an older post and possibly they have made changes but I typically bash for 65-70+ and have on occasion crit on my bashes for over 90. So don't give up on bash just yet.

just thought i might say that sk's own at aggro control :\ may not be the best at tanking but can hold aggro like nothing norrath has put its eyes on :P they can still do their fair share of taking dmg tho

We need a Epic For the Paladin to use. In every story I have heasrs or read the Paladin or Knight used a Sword and Shield I dont know where VI got the idead of using 2HS weapons for the paladin. If anyone knows a Great 50 lvl 1HS and Shield combination plz let me know.

LOL ToV is a sk/pali heaven...its like a never ending war of weapons/armor. sk's black stone maul of crushing (uber) and now this pali shield (mad uber)...OMG OMG OMG :) the pali who got this *congrats*
