Same as all Thurgadin Quest armors. The Torn Enchanted drops in Kael from various giants (Arena and Castle areas are good spots to farm them, Bank drops a piece as well occasionally).

The gems drop in most 50+ velious zones. Velk's, Siren's Grotto, Dragon Necropolis, etc.

Check the other pieces, there usually is a good guide posted under the robe part.

I hate to tell you bud, I had quit for 6 months of EQ, got rid of my last account and started back up from scratch on a new server. I solo'd a Mage to 51 in 10 days playing time, w/o any high level help, no twinking. Thats not even the fastest leveling time ive seen from others. If that isnt Soloing capability i dont know what is. Necros are the only class that can solo better. Druids can solo, but only during certain levels is it efficient, there are levels when they need to be grouped, because the mobs at that level they will have to Kite isnt time efficient.

Heh I think you forgot shamans can solo till lvl 60, including soloing some dragons in WW :)

First, they nerfed the pets damage by 1/2 against PCs (prob because my pets would eat entire groups). Then they changed that you can't invs them. Mages are the fastest killing PvP class since a pet beating on someone stops casting and our spells are just a little less dmg than a wiz;s (on average). Now that vallons coin only tho theres no real reason to kill someone quickly (so they can't bag). Only good spells we get post 50 are CoH and a couple of nukes. On a plus note, a full group of mages = total death, stronger than a full group of any class.

NO PETS!" so u don't summon a pet for fear that it will cause more trains. u are stuck just using your casting ability to do damage

Not only with spells, but also with melee weapons. Although, most mages don't use melee, but I still do (I'm 37). There are a few spells that are good, however (think Gift of Xev).

They have spells that are usless and in most group situations everyone is shouting kill the pet! KILL THE PET! But the main reason i wrote the post before (Caster are getting screwed) was talking about how all the new stuff in kunark and vellius is not very caster frendly. Most of it is melee and hybrid stuff. weapons, armor, etc... There is a bit of cool caster stuff but over all we got screwed. even the new planes armor sucks. The boot have an efect of summon bandages! You know, that 4th level spell where you can summon an entire backpack full and still not even see your mana bar move? We can summon a pet but shouldint we be able to look like one since were the ones makeing them!?!?! Mages get the most useless spells. example is summon arrows. If mages cant use arrows why should we want to summon them? To become a groups ***** like a cleric? I like the ring of levitation but whats all of this crap for? Because you know that all of the spells are NOT useless! I for one love all of my spells. Even summon arrows. I have had requests for them before. They are "group friendly" spells. I have summoned arrows for the tanks so that they can pull easier, making them get hit less. Granted, not by much, but when fighting a mob that does 120 dmg a whach, those 3 or 4 hits that the tank may have suffered are not missed at all by the cleric who has to heal the damage from those hits. Then there are items like that Dagger of Symbols. I love this item. It has great stats as a weapon and also great saves. I always summon one and put it in my range slot, that is until I get something better to put there but I am not thinking that will be anytime soon. hehe All-in-all, most of our summoned spells are for group members. Why would we not want our group members to have good items if they do not have anything better than what we can summon?

1: soloing ends at 55.

2: mages arent a true solo class... a true solo class is well rounded, can do a little bit of everything, but really cant do any one, particular thing best. necro and druid are the only real solo classes. rather, mages simply CAN solo effectively(like a wizard). a mage is a grouping class. they do damage, and can ONLY do damage... we have the versatility of a warrior.

3: the reason mages arent first picks on raids is because we are rather poor at them. on a raid successful planning and orchestration is key. you need as small of a margin for error as possible. what this means is that due to the unfortuneate combination of poor pathing and too many bad mages who dont know how to or wont controll their pets, many raid leaders wont allow pets.
unfortuneatly for us, by the time youve reached the level to participate in any major raid, 70% of your strength is in your pet. the remaining 30% is in our nukes, which are also not very effective as many high level mobs are resistent to them.

Wow, what game are you playing, hehe. Apparently you are one of thsoe high levels noobs I am constantly running into. First off, mages can solo extremely well post 50, jsut certain zones are difficult because of the resists of certain mobs, Skyfire comes to mind. Also, who says mages aren't welocme on raids, I am invited on raids with people who now me all the time for the simple fact that a mage can do as much damage as msot otehr classes with ease. Not only do we have a pet to help tank but we have point blank AoE that do extreme amounts of damage to multiple mobs. The best Plane raids I have ever been on have been all about the caster AoE where in the mages float above the mobs and cast constant barrages of Point Blank AoE and this entire time they have pets out. And apparently you also don't know much about mages versatility. We get weapons that are excellant for raids (anti summon swords), we get our masks or mardu, CoH and other things. If I had a little moer time I would explain alittle more but since you are 54 and seem to know nothing about this game I do not think it would do any good any how, well, take care.

So at 250 int, that 800 damage shock of steel will do an extra 25%, making it 1000 damage give or take, depending on level, that i think puts us back over tank damage and will make casters once again go for int items instead of AC/hp/agi/sta whatever else they go for once they hit 200 int. Tanks can get higher str, better weapons and such to raise damage output, why can't our items raise our damage output? Sure it gives us more mana, but most of the time in groups i am not at full mana anyways, so having that 3000 mana just goes to waste anyways when i never max it out, may as well drop it to 2500 and get some AC gear if i only ever get up to about that much mana anyways, because of that, the efficiency of a caster in crap gear, is almost that of a caster in the best gear, why is it like that yet the total opposite for tanks? Give us an incentive to work on the stats we were ment to have.

I am only lvl 40 and my 39 summon'd air pet was out performing the tanks in my group. It was hitting for 40 damage consecitively where the tanks were doing 20s and 30s for damage. Add this to the nuke damage that I was doing, and I was WAY outperforming the tanks in damage. Granted, I have been in groups where the tanks are hitting for 50+ and doing critical hits, but I think that mages are doing a great amount of damge. It is all perspective.

Or do you use your whole mana bar at your disposal in a duel? You use your whole mana bar, if your in a group fighting a mob, do you use your whole mana bar on every mob or do you only hit each once or twice? I certainly hope its not the first, or you should just delete your character now. On a single mob mages can do more damage then a tank yes, but overall thruout the course of a long group, that tank on average unless they really suck, or are a paladin, are gonna outdamage almost all casters. Outduel? who the hell cares about that in a group....yah who cares if you can mezz everything in that room, i can OUTDUEL YOU!.....who cares? Noone.
