Read under Tattered Ikaav braids that the don't work. I know this should be obvious, after all the posts under this armor, but it wasn't to me. There were only tattered Ikaav braids for sale, and they were all 500p+ so don't do it!
This item has a ridiculous drop rate off Ridge runner. Estimating about 30+ kills and he still hasnt dropped it..WTF...we been going to this camp for weeks on end to try and get this drop for one guildy who needs it....

a poisonous murkglider in Noble's Causeway, and I suspect these, as well as most of the other tier 1 armor quest NO DROP items, are random uncommon-rare drops from any of the easy (groupable) named mobs like the ones in Wall of Slaughter. I've certainly seen a lot of duskfall chronicles, map of old kuuas and spire control shards from various mobs in both these zones, at least.

I have the drops for the trade in for the boots; have any plate classes done this trade in?

this is for plate boots as well
There are different Armors from different NPCs, seen Chain pieces from the npc in DS. Not sure who the Plate or Silk NPC is yet.
Oh also, the items are different, the Chain helm needed different items then what this Leather Helm needs.

This is not entirely true. Though the "trash MOB" pieces differ from class to class, all classes share the same mini drops like these stones (this is posted in many locations here):

Also dropped from Murkglider Deathstinger in same room as SK epic murkglider instead of a lewt drop once.

any ideas what these are for? Mine dropped in Walls of Slaughter off a named Ukun.
