found one today as ground spawn near the Loda Kai Thug camp in Shadeweaver!
Original main, from "back in the day", Wuji, Halfling Druid, Nameless Server
Current main, Kyfho, Froglok Monk, Mangler Server

............ almost every city, if not all, has this item. every city i have been to has had one somewhere in the water.

I found one while swimming on a ledge underwater while swimming near the dock in Halas.
I also found one in Shadeweaver's Thicket, near Gor Taku camp while fighting the Loda Kai.

There is one in Erudin Palace, in the fountain where all 3 magic schools are located.
I was swimming along in Neriak Commons outside where The Blind Fish is and found this just on the ground near the windows. There was also "a rod" (I think) in the same area.

If you're not an enchanter, you probably don't want to do anything with it. ;-)
There are a series of 10 such coins strewn about Norrath for enchanters to collect, the goal being to acquire a high-level Tash spell.
I notice an earlier poster found one on Luclin. What it was doing there, I couldn't tell you. Perhaps a completely different quest.

I found one of these puppies in Shadeweaver's thicket just above the cavern to Paludal. I'm a BST, so I can't ID it... any idea what this particular 'an old silver coin' might be?
Confirmed. "An Old Silver Coin" and not "An Ancient Tarnished Coin." Nobody in zone or within city at the time to Identify for me, so no further clues here.
You sure that wasn't an ANCIENT TARNISHED coin? Those are foraged in luclin, and since I don't know what for, my druid just drops them. You probably got one a druid, or other forager, dropped.

I don't know about the last user, but I am certain I got "An old silver coin" in Shadeweaver's. I have a druid and have foraged countless "ancient tarnished coins," and this wasn't one of them. Perhaps there will be some new Enc quest?
I found one in a pool in Freeport, the one where the peasant woman is standing. I don't remember for sure, but I think it was West Freeport. I haven't noticed that it identifies as anything but a old silver coin. For sure no one will buy it.
Found this in the pool in the temple of life in North Qeynos on the bottom, just DONT kill the fish
There's one in Ak'Anon, I'd better check exactly where I found it. I found it *quite* soon after starting my Gnome Cleric of Brell Serilis, like in my 1st 15 mins of play-time ever. So look near the Abbey of Deep Musing or the "downtown" area of Ak'Anon.
The coin in Ak'Anon is in the lowest level of the city, where the great river runs to. It is next to a light on the ledge directly above Sanfyrd, the gnome who does the scrap metal quest.

Also spawns in Freeport (west) in the water under the academy of Arcane Sciences, and in Qeynos (north) under the light beam that comes from the temple of Rodcent nife. If i remember correctly these coins are for an enchanter spell quest.

I found one while swimming near the fishermen in Felwithe, along the bottom of the stream they're fishing from.
