Ruins of Kunark
My brittle bone just dropped from a sepulcher skeleton in the basement. I went to the North hall for about two hours w/o any luck. I died, came back, and on a lark decided to clear the basement, and wala!
So, I guess the moral of this boring story is to always clear the basement before you go into a hall.

I can see how this would turn into a long camp. It was my 42nd skeleton mob that dropped the brittle bone, but I had a good time camping the place. My drop came from the north hall.
I spent 2 days in the basement no stop slaughter 14 hours the first day and 16 hours the second and never a drop. The 3rd day I went from hall to hall killing for 9 hours and nothing ... so I loaded my Boxed set and sat in the zone in and pulled non-stop. I pulled the stair mobs and 5-6 spawns in the entrance of each hall before the fake walls .... after another 4 hours of this tactic it finally dropped.
Sad but before I started this Necromancer Skullcap quest these dropped like candy and rotted like you would not believe.

I have seen it drop in basement where you drop down from where you first zone in..it is very rare though off skellys in basement.
Tried each of the wings and didnt seem to make any difference. Still a rare drop. Got it off skelly in North wing in the end. Easier to kill there too and lots of skellys.

Found the brittle bone in north wing off "a sepulcher skeleton", took me 3 nights going around all HS and over 400 skellies downed, it's definitely rare but exists ;)

Dropped tonight (12/21/04) off of the first sepulcher skeleton that I killed after the drop down in North wing. =D completed finally!

This is a common drop in Lake of Ill Omen in the Sarnak fort. Had tons of them rotting and/or destroyed while waiting for the chancellor to pop, in and around the dinning room. Hope this helps a bit.

I'm afraid not...I'm inclined to think you are seeing skulls or other drops. A Brittle Bone is a rare drop from Howling Stones, west wing mostly as I am informed by necros who have actually hunted for them.
I checked out the sarnark fort and nothing other than iksar skulls for the shaman quest dropped in the Chancellor's room.

Seems to be the same for me. It is listed as a common drop but I have blasted at least 300 skeletons with no drop... it is definitely rare.

I shall have to retract my previous statement LOL. Apparently the brittle bone drops off of helots in the west wing... I was just told this in game by another necro, if it does in fact drop off of basement spawns, then it is rare there. From what I've heard it is common in the west wing, I am going to verify it now.

I'm just curious, is this a rare drop off charasis skeles (the two listed in particular) or am I just having a run of poor luck? SPent 7 hours in Charasis without a single drop from any I killed, or for any groups that came in that I asked.
