They did it cause people would keep asking stupid questions like "What does Flowing Thought Mean?", or "What is Aura of Battle"?

Actually the change from FT, Vengeance, etc to the new method is so that it is now a stat and not an "effect" and as a stat is subject to the automatic "nerf" on items with recomended levels. Now on an item that was formally FT1, no difference, but a level 20 wearing a FT3 item with rec level of 65 on it will only get FT1 until he levels up. Still not huge, but take into account vengeance, formally vengance 3 would be +15 atk, the same nood would be at +3 or +4 )or somewhere around there)

If the item still had an effect, it would either work all the way, or not work at all until the minimum level was reached, such as with many weapon procs and clicky items. (in that aspect it's not a nerf)

I'm sure that letting newer people know what the effect means might have been something they considered, but I highly doubt it was the motivation for the change.

A few months ago, SoE stripped the five most common modifiers (+Attack, +Mana Regeneration, +Regeneration, +Haste, and +Damage Shield) out of effects across the board and replaced the effects that consisted only of these modifiers with the raw modifiers. E.g., Flowing Thought III was replaced with Mana Regeneration +3. Their thinking was, "If it's just Mana Regeneration +3, why not just call it that? Why does the item need an effect?" Thus they made the change...

Not trying to be mean but what rock were you hiding under? SoE has changed all of FT to mana regen title, it makes it easier to understand for newer players and its been this way for at least 3 months (that I can remember)It may have been changed when GoD was released. all former FT items are now known as mana regeneration items
