The item from Mercator Salonian is not Nilpuss' Jumjum. It's Jumjum stalk [vendor purchased] listed here

Confirmed this Jumjum exists as ground spawn before Nilipus comes to steal it. Looks like a brown bag and can be anywhere on the farm by the scarecrow.

If you pick up the ground spawn, Nilipus won't have one on him when you kill it.
Field Jumjum stalks

With regard to the jumjum stalks in the field, they don't look like plants. They pop up as a big bag laying on top of the soil in random places throughout the field. The field is back by the scarecrow in Rivervale. When you zone in from Misty Thicket head towards the bar (towards your right, the right fork passed the Priest of Discord), pass it on its left and go around to the back. There will be an opening to your left. Take that, and if that's not the field, you might have to take another left. I forget. Hope this wasn't too confusing.
There are three types of jumjum stalks
# Aug 03 2004 at 4:28 AM Rating: Decent
There are three varieties of jumjum.
The first type is Nillipuss' link: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=13974
Second is Stolen (ground spawn) link: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=13973
And the third is normal vendor stock, link: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=13975

Lucy's data base links off of this entry to list souces for this, so those aren't correct. The vendor that normally stock jumjum are Daleen Leafsway in Rivervale and Alorob Bolrodo in Shadow Haven. If someone loots/steals jumjum and sells it to a vendor, then that vendor will also have those versions available in stock.

I have made the misty thicket picnics from the jumjum that's sold in Shadow Haven, so if that's your goal, easiest is to just buy it there. I cannot vouch for them being made from the other varieties of jumjum, but it would make sense that it would.

By the way, if you've got two or more of the varieties, they will not stack with each other.

Constantly Ive bought the Jumjum stalks in Shadowhaven and I try to make a Salad or cake and to my Demise it doesnt work.. now could this be because I need a magical one? Cause I never see those in fields and I did once kill Nillipus (crazy lil shorty running around) and I tryied to use his that didnt work either so i suppose if you were to narrow it down I probably DO infact need the ones from the field... but that stinks I never ever see those in some elligid field you guys keep talking about is it the one near the druids place with the scare crow? Thanks if you have any info.

I've seen them sold in Shadowhaven (sorry no vendor name).. I also bought stacks from the brewing supplies vendor in Felwithe, but last time I checked he had none? Perhaps he has a limited supply or else it was patched out.

there are no vendors that sell jumjums in rivervale; the grown in a field there; they spawn every 12 minutes during the day during the summer months only; if you find one at a vendor, it means some moron sold some to the vendor

**** also;: there are only THREE types of jumjums stalks: magical and non-magical and Nillipus
magical ones are GROWN in Rivervale in a field
and there are ones sold at vendors in RV; BUT- they are non magical ones; try to stack them with the ones that grow!; there is no other way to tell the difference! they look, eat, and have identical descriptions!
the magical ones grown in field are used in ALL jumjum quests, including Misty Thicket Picnic; and the Honey Jum quest

RE: Quest

I've Identified at least 3 different types of JumJum Stalks:

Nillipus' JumJum (rare drop)
Stolen JumJum (common drop)
Purchased JumJum (vendor purchase Rivervale, Shadowhaven)

Read the Nillipus quest postings, it appears as though there is a difference between the purchased and foraged jumjum and the ones Nillipus drops, but some say you can drop the normal ones, let Nillipus pick them up, then kill him for them. Sounds like a viable plan, anyway.
