Found mine by the mosquitoes on the hill at about 300,1600 . I tried for a couple hours at the hill giants with no luck. I did train my foraging skill from 160 to 179 at ranger guild master prior to trying at this location though. I got the drop after about 5 forages.

I went to the new Hill Giant site, figured I get some money while I waited. Then after about 40 minutes I came here to check out where other people got it. I went to the old HG spot, had no luck after 15 minutes. Went to the inactive Druid Ring that has druids at it near Lake Rathe zoneline (there is a broken down one in the SW of the zone). Then I got to thinking, if this item is probably the result of water sprites or whatever, wouldn't it make sense for it to drop more likely near the zone line? I went to the bandit camp and got it on the first try there. Again, the only reason I did this was because it made sense to me, and this could have been purely stupid luck, but if all else fails, whats the harm in trying?

Sickly Maiden's Hair
# Jan 16 2013 at 5:43 PM Rating: Decent
I'm not sure if this means anything, but I spent hours and hours foraging in RM and each time I either dropped the items or destroyed them. I never foraged anything other than water flasks and roots. I decided to start putting the foraged items in my inventory and started getting items I hadn't gotten before, like eggs and berries. After about an hour, I got the hair.

I landed form PoK using Gukta book and hit forage as I was turning to leave the area and foraged it right up. I get the feeling I was extremely lucky.

LOC at (-231.81, -287.29, 103.00). from previous post worked for me in 2 forages
300/1600 loc had it

Random or not, after cruising other areas of the
Rathe Mtns for an hour looking for this (Forage: 193+50 from AA),
I decided to try the 300/1600 loc (old HG fort? Mosquito Hill?).
I drew a line from 300 w to 300 e and foraged along it. Around 301/1601,
2nd forage around that point got the Sickly Maiden's Hair.
BTW, I think some Forage is Random AS WELL as around fixed locations like ground spawn.
Several foraging items occur both ways, if I recall correctly. Only SoE knows for sure.

I say you have a much better chance of finding it at the old HG hill. I got it on the 2nd forage attempt at 91 forage skill. So if your looking for this go around +300, +1600.

Your and other anecdotal evidence is not convincing. With the rarity of this item being foraged, I would suspect, you would need to forage in the same spot at least 10,000 times, then do another spot another 10,000 times and do a statistical comparison to see if there is a significant difference. And to be really convincing, you should do this in many locations.

I foraged this at the NEW Hill Giant hill after less than an hour, so you certainly don't have to be at the old hill to get it. I strongly suspect that, like all other forages I'm aware of, this one can be found anywhere in the zone, and the chance of finding it in any one place is purely random; in fact, there's nothing you can do to affect what you get from any one forage attempt (other than to pray, maybe).

Might have gotten lucky but i was completely lost trying to find that old giant hill and foraged this on 2nd attempt after i zoned in Rathe. it indeed does not seem linked to the loc you are at in the zone
300 1600 works
# Jun 13 2009 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent
After a full night of foraging unsuccessfully, I decided to look it up. Boy am I glad I did. After running to 300,1600 I got it on the 3rd forage there. Thanks to all that have posted this info.

So yes, +300,+1600 works. Don't ask, just do it lol :D
