As stated many times below, these do not drop in Blackburrow. Secondly, they are NOT used in rogue redemption, instead the gnoll pup scalps are.

i just destroyed BB, killed every mob and not 1!!! i doubt they even drop any more!!!
i don't know that they ever dropped in BB--they haven't in the 3 years i've played. can definitely find them on the gnoll side of Highpass Hold--but drops are uncommon to rare.
if you're looking for scalps for faction, head to Greater Faydark, kill orcs around Crushbone, then zone into Crushbone and mass slaughter, you'll get tonnes of orc scalps.

After spending several hours in Black Burrow, I didn't have a single drop of this. I went to High Pass Hold and swatted around gnolls near East Karana, had much better luck. Found them on 'a gnoll shaman' and 'a gnoll brawler.'

Drops from Chief Sanre'Rexsa in EK near the crag spiders. I have 2 on Xev, will put them on trader.
I have never looted a Gnoll scalp, but I have looted gnoll pup scalps. So there may very well be 2 different types. Not sure which is which for monk quest, but the pup scalps are used in the rogue quest.

I looted a scalp from a gnoll a little while ago. I honestly cant remember for sure, where or from which gnoll. But It was either BB, Qeynos Hills or maaaaybeee... north qeynos noobie area. but it was definately a 'scalp'.I think...

Which is which? As I'm certain the drop for the monk white headband is 'Gnoll pup scalp' , I'm fairly certain this must mean that there are two types of scalp. ?
If they /are/ the same however, then I don't think this quest warrants a level 11 rating..

Sequel to my message regarding the orcs for their scalps...killed heaps in EC, WC and nektulos and wiped out two levels of gnolls in Black Burrow...my returns are as follows:
4 Perfect Gnoll Skin
4 Flawless Hides
2 HQ Gnoll Skin
10 Patch of Gnoll Fur.
I'm thinking that the Patch of Gnoll Fur = Gnoll Scalp...
I haven't killed any Gnolls in High Hold Pass because there are too few to farm. Here there were heaps. Same with the orcs...too few to farm...I did get one scalp from the orcs in HHP...I'm thinking they nerfed the scalp dropping on EC, WC mobs as well as nerfing the gnoll scalp drops in Black Burrow.
...a day later...
I killed about 10 gnolls in HighPass and they didn't drop the scalp...so it isn't that common.
I'm thinking gnolls exist in split paw in East Karanas and the dungeon itself.
I did go to Crushbone...and after killing around 30 orcs, I looted 13 'orc scalps' and 7 'belts'...woot I have found a place to farm them.

they are sold by vendor in West Free Port out in the newbie area.

While true you might be able to buy these from vendors, they will ONLY be there if someone has sold them to the vendor. This means there is a limited supply.
What is the name of the vendor?
