Putrid Skelly under the tree on the east side of skelly camp is the PH. 15-20 minute timer. I had to kill him 3 times to get Ghanex to pop. The Head of Ghanex dropped first time.

^info is good, results may vary.

21-25 kills. Undead popped with no head drop, 7+ hours later a non-undead version popped and dropped the head.
a single Putrid Skeleton is the PH, 20m respawn, ~5% rate

The Dwarf Skele is NOT the PH (at least not in 2009 and 2012). The putrid skeleton on the other side of the fallen platform, very close to the dwark skeleton, is the PH. He is on a 20 min timer. This Putrid Skeleton when you kill it says "Come visit Barger" or something similar. You'll know you have the right one when you kill him. In all likelihood, 20m later you'll see him again. If you are very lucky, you'll see Ghanex instead. For me he has always dropped the head, but I have too small of a data sample size to be sure. My 'mates have told me they have killed him and received no head (sounds like a personal problem). I find that cruel and unusual given the spawn rate. ;-(

I am 100% confident in this information. You do not need to kill ANYTHING else other than this one PH.

FYI, I've camped him twice recently, and one time took 3 kills (1 hour), the other took 52 kills (17+ hours). I'm guessing he's probably a 5% to 10% spawn, and I was just very unlucky once, and a bit lucky the other time).

Also, here in the comments people talk about the Dwarf Skeleton "despawning instantly". He doesn't despawn. It's the fall through the ground client-side bug which happens after the skele collapse animation plays. The same thing happens in one spot in Qeynos Hills when skeles collapse near the ruins in NE corner.. He's still there. The server still has him there. it's just a client-side bug in the EQ client does not show it there, and thus you can't click on it. If you go to his spot, look down, and press F8 (which does server round trip), you will target him, and can even fight and kill him. He's there, He's targetable. Just not with the mouse. Bug has been around in EQ for 13+ years. I reported it in *beta* lol.

I was lvl 26 at the time but I got one just by hunting at the fallen platform in SK. He was a easy kill and i have the head still if someone is interested PST on tunare server
Getting him to spawn is easy
# Aug 10 2003 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, folks...here it is...no muss no fuss.

After doing the "clear the camp" crap, etc. I decided to focus on the two things that were different in the skellie camp once I logged back in for another go at it.

1) Focus ONLY on the fallen platform that is closest to the bridge leading to NK.

2) Ignore all other skellies but the two that spawn on each side of this platform. One will
be a dwarf putrid skellie on the right side as
you face the platform and the other will be a
putird skellie the spawns on the other side of
this same platform.

3) The dwarf skellie spawns about every six
minutes and despawns 2 seconds after hitting
the ground in most cases so what I did was
stand at the spot where it falls with my auto
attack already going even tho I hadn't targeted
anything yet. As soon as he spawned I targeted
him so he would get hit before despawning.

4) Then, whenever the putrid skellie place holder
spawned on the other side of the platform was
up, I would kill him and return to the dwarf
skellie spawn spot to do it all over again.

I did this for about 4 rounds never hitting any of the other skellies in the camp and got Drah to pop easily. He always pops on the other side of the fallen platform from where the dwarf skellie pops. He casts one spell in the beginning of the fight and gets about 120 to 150 points of damage but then is fairly easy to take down. He does run when low on hit points unlike the skellies who stay put until they're dead. He is an undead gnoll NOT a skellie so there's no mistaking him when he pops.

Good luck, all.

Grrr... Was clearing the skeles using my 55 bear pet and Ghranex Drah popped. Snared and let pet whoop on him for about 30 secs. When I looted, no head. Bad undead gnoll!!! DROP YOUR STUPID HEAD!!!

I am on Tunare and am looking to get such a head and the associated remains of Brother Dareb and Brother Shen. I would be willing to pay, but just as anxious to find a good group of players who would like to help me on this quest. The red headband isn't all that special, and considering other stuff out there, not personally worth a week of six hour nights trying to find all the parts of this particular quest, so that is why I'd consider paying. Look for Aethlinda on Tunare or send me an e-mail.

Ghanex Drah

I have killed this guy a number of times, and there seems to be little consistency to him. I have done the dwarf skellie camp and that worked once....after seven consecutive dwarfs were killed and I didn't count any putrid that were along the way. Took me over four hours and I inherited the spot from a monk who got tired and gave up. Problem with the dwarf is they spawn and then despawn so fast you really have to be on your toes to hit them to keep them from despawning. Went several times with 4 or 5 in a row only to miss one....drat! I'm still not sure that is the real way...I incline towards a random spawn. I have run into him at least 5 times just running by. He failed to drop the head only once, but two other times I got there just in time to see an aviak wandering by kill him... talk about grit your teeth. That's the bad news. The other possiblity that I hadn't considered is that you do something to spawn him, but it takes so long that you lose interest and leave....then he spawns when you're gone....I think that's a real strong possible.

The good news is that high level monks will pay and pay a LOT for this thing. My best so far is 500 pp, a velium etched stone mace (back when they fetched 500 pp apiece), and a spider fur cloak. This gal found out I had it, and she kept upping the ante till I couldn't refuse it. She said she makes 10k a night on raids, so it was no biggie to her. Now I check every time I'm in the area, and keep picking him up... Got one for sale now on Luclin, and I am asking 1000 pp for it. I expect to get it, too, but may have to wait for someone to get desperate enough for it. You almost NEVER see one available, and in SK you hear guys shouting for Ghanex all the time.

Small footnote: The escaped Splitpaws (some at least) ARE placeholders for the other two heads you need off High Shaman's. I always kill them when I spot them on track. About a third of the time when I kill one, I will spot Phido or the other guy on track within 15 seconds or so, and always real close by.

I'm sure I'll get some flames for selling the stuff at such ludicrous prices, but such is the way of a capitalistic society. If you flame, just be aware that I've given two away free, but to people who demonstrated to me that they were the kind of player I felt deserved it. If you don't like my price, feel free to camp the guy yourself.....)) Smiley: smile
Spawn
# Aug 14 2002 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
I personally killed the small dwarf and putrid skeletons for 2 hours 3 nights in a row to no effect. When I started clearing everything out after 10 minutes Ghanex Drah was there casting a spell, also this must have been about time for the dwarf to spawn because the small putrid skeleton was also there with him attacking me.
Therefore I do not think the small skeletons are PH or anything.
Spawn slightly bugged
# May 19 2002 at 8:42 AM Rating: Default
I have been camping Ghanex for a guildmate of mine who cannot get it due to the TLC on FV server. I have been killed by Ghanex once, and killed him once (and gave the head to another who had been camping him for 2 days before I got there).

The dwarf skeleton is the placeholder for Ghanex. There is only one dwarf skeleton, and only one place that he spawns. It is between 23 and 30 minute spawn. If you approach the spawn spot from another zone, or if you have just entered the game, you will see the dwarf skel or Ghanex in that spot.

Here is the bug... Once you kill the dwarf skel or are sitting around that place, the dwarf skel spawn will sort of fall from the sky, land in a pile of bones on the ground and disappear in a second or two.

I don't know why that is.
RE: Spawn slightly bugged
# Nov 11 2002 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
The dwarf skeleton is the wrong spawn. You have to kill the putrid skeleton that spawns on the other side of the fallen stand from the dwarf skeleton.

I think the key to make Ghanex Drah spawn is to kill the dwarf and petrid(mini-size) skeleton at location +1406/+1082 and look south. You have to be quick on them, because they'll disappear in seconds after the spawn. After killing one dwarf and one petrid(mini-size) Ghanex Drah or a petrid skeleton might be a chance that will spawn at location +1350/+1050, just alittle up north from your current position. After you killing a dwarf or petrid(mini-size) go kill the petrid skeletons and clean them out, dont have to care about the regular skeletons. Rumors say that escape gnolls are Ghanex Drah's placeholder, I dont think that is true. I didn't kill a single gnoll to make Ghanex Drah spawn. This is the way I made Ghanex Drah spawn on 5/10/2k2, so if it doesn't work try something else. The head doesn't always drop, so good luck.

Location of Ghanex Drah is at South Karana +1350/1050, or also known as Undead Ruins/Skelly camp(#1 in EQ AtlasMap).

He still spawns
# Jul 18 2001 at 8:27 PM Rating: Decent

About an hour ago, I was passing by the ruins on my way to a group at the gnoll spires when I saw him on tracking. I didn't know who he was so I investigated him. I got a little too close and he jumped me. He was standing still, like he was crucified, and he looked like a smaller exhumed gnoll. He /con'ed green to me. He did a 150 point harm touch, but couldn't hit me after that. I nuked him 3 or 4 times - it happened kind of fast. I picked up his head. Given the rarity of the spawn, I'm going to start my own monk.
Not There anymore

I sat there and camped the undead ruins and had a tracker friend that moved up and down the entire zone for a DAY and none of them spawned I clearder the undead camp 100 times and murdered everything that walked past. These guys are NOT THEREE NAYMORE trust me i would have seen them.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 14 2001 at 12:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The spawns are broken. An inside source has told me you won't see any of the Shaman's until after the next patch.

Ghanex Drah is a 15-16 Necro found in SK...he is a generally easy kill for a 17 druid. He triple dots and attacks with his pet. Almost always drops head and also drops a Polished Bone Hoop (+10 mana) and Crysknife.
