Some short info

Dot mod cap is 3.9, so this brings you at max dot damage of 162 pretty easy.

Also you can use the effect from invetory, just like tympan from GoD, just which there was 2 other drums with the other 2 dots hehe ;)

Looks pretty much like the picture, more detailed. Not a bad drum but when you are able to get this it's not really that super. With instrument AA and epic you close to most caps.

Still status-symbol :p
Rare?

I went back through my guild's claim logs and found of about 12 kills the drums dropped only once. Is it really that rare or are we just having a run of bad luck?

1 in 12? That's probably a little on the lucky side. I've heard of guilds going 30-35 kills before their first drum. We're approaching 20 and no drums yet.

These drums do look like drums, they are slightly reminiscent of the Trueborn drums which we saw emerge with LDoN. They also taper in a bit from the playing surface. In my opinion although vastly superior to Thunderous Drums the look is poor. A nice gold/white or black particle effect would be awesome for these drums.

Hope this helps.

I disagree, trueborn drums look noticeably different from these, these look just like the picture basicaly with runes on them.
mod on clicky?
# Jul 08 2003 at 12:29 AM Rating: Decent
Just curious, not that i'll ever get this, but does the right click chant add the mod from the drum or no? i'm assuming not since most right click items dont take focus effects into consideration, and instrument mods are kinda like focus effects, but hey, this is elemental maybe its different. Would be nice to have an extra spell slot when soloing. Thanks

When you use the right click effect the drum modifier is included. I just got these drums last night and the first thing I did was use the right click on the next mob. My DoTs usually do 134 damage per tick. Using the right click effect on the drum it did 155 damage, and I think I was bumping into the modifier cap. Will have to drop some aa into Ayonaes Tutelage to see if this increases any.

I won this drum the other day which dropped from Peregrin Rockskull. He is the boss of one of the ring events in Earth. This drum much like many of the PoP bard instruments is extremely rare. I currently have the only one on drinal server.

Hmmm I know the modifier on this item is 3.4 compared to a modifier on Drum of the Beast of 2.6 With Ayonae's Tutelage 3 and instrument mastery 3, bards can reach the total modifier cap of 3.9 Here is the link to Lucy for more details http://lucy.fnord.net/item.html?id=27998

Ridiculous
# Mar 25 2003 at 12:15 PM Rating: Decent
With a 3.4 mod, the damage that can be dealt by a lvl 65 bard with all the PoP dots over time is just ridiculous!

Considering they are mana free and can be twisted non stop until something dies (yes I know swarm kiting is much more effecient) creates a damage potential that far exceeds any other class OVER TIME. (Notice I said over time...) All I'm saying is with enough room, against a pure melee that dots can be landed on... a mob that might be impossible to take down single handed by any other class would just take time for a bard.

I guess that's the same with any other drum, but with these the damage potential is much greater.

With or without this drum, a bard can take down most of the eq mob (no summon = joke..., and even if its summon can be possible :P). If you think its so powerfull, you ever check the shaman / necro 65 dot ? Much more then us *wink*
wow

According to some who have done it, this drum drops at the end of a 2 1/2 hour event...which results in only one item and it may not always be this one.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 31 2003 at 12:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) dude, really, a 24 hour camp isnt considered rare anymore

Mkay... he's talking about a 2.5 hour long battle-fest event, and you're comparing it to a 24 hour camp of some rare mob?

Apples and oranges.

/agree 2.5 hours is a drop in the bucket compared to the time I spent camping just about every other bard item in the game. Heck I spent more time then that camping mistmoore battle drums back in the day =P

Clearly you have no idea how much effort it takes to get into the elemental planes, or how STUNNINGLY rare the bard instruments are.

2.5 hours? Yeah, 2.5 hours for 50-72 people, to finish the event and PRAY that the item drops.

Basically you're comparing a camp that can be soloed, without ANY flagging to an elemental ring. I've killed more named mobs than I can remember (well over 100), and have yet to see a SINGLE instrument drop.
