Best place I found to actualyl camp this stuff is steamfont. You can get over there near the windmill as a semi-safety area. If you got tracker you will find the commanders are not too far from the windmill. I was killing them with my druid then me and my friend was logging all our alts on to equip them. Within Id guess 5 spawn sessions we had everything we wanted for all our charactors.

Each time I did this there was maybe 1 or 2 other people hunting commanders, and there was plenty of them to go around.
what else to commanders drop?

This (like all the 5th Aniversary Newbie items) is a fairly common drop from any Skeletal Commander, which are blue to a level 51 character.

However, any level char can basically sit in any of the zones the events are happening in and wait for someone to call out that this is rotting.... which many people are doing.

This ring seems to be one of the more popular drops, so be quick if you hear one's rotting =)

Well at least this way the wealth is being spread around... any newbie or lowbie who survives these waves of skellies deserves a great reward for their level even if they didn't kill the commanders.
