sooo, does anyone think the skeletons gonna spawn again 'round christmas time? =P just curious, they seem to be spawning on every signigicant occasion *shrug* ............

Shout out to an amazing mage on the Stromm server named Yiliin who grouped with me and allowed my 17 Paladin to loot one of these. This weapon ROCKS and yes, it really does proc that 40 point lifetap on even newbie mobs - with 110 DEX procced an average of twice a fight on a white con. It even has some impressive flavor text... like a necro you say "Aaah... I feel better" and the last line of the blue proccing text says "You beam a smile at a" (insert name of newly lifetapped mob here.) Definitely fun...

i do not think they stoped spawining these i saw a skeletin army invade East commons on 10/26/04 at midnight, tried to get some guildies on becuase i wanted to get some of the drops but no onw was on at midnight on a tuesday, and as soon as the next day light comes in game the skeles turn to dust :( a happened right as i was going to finish off a skele trooper :(
They stopped, but they have reappeared for Halloween. I suspect that they'll be gone again in a few days. Until then, all the same items from the anniversary event are dropping.
You are right, they stopped several months ago (mid April?) and they are now back probably for Halloween.

also, does anyone know if SoE will nerf this after the aniversary is over? my guess is that theyll put a rec lvl or make the proc a certain lvl, which would suck.......im just hopin they dont
If it weren't for the special servers (like FV) that allow for trading nodrop items I would say SOE wouldn't bother. . . .but. . . .
Since those servers do exist, I wouldn't doubt there's a recomended level nerf in the works.
I would bet this item (40hp life tap at lvl 1) and the Fabled Goulbane (250hp proc at lvl 20) are two at the top of the list.
Regardless, this item ROCKS. Get it while you can.

i just got this for my SK, and it roxx....i love the proc, with low dex it procs at least once per fight

was going about my aniversary quest the day it ccame out. was walking through tox the skeles popped right on me and the druid. he dotted i owned with me WMBS and i got the lucky loot of the comander. woot free thing for 2hb

My low level Warrior has one of these and I must say they are fantastic. Hard fight? Come out a little worse for wear? Bandage to 50 then whip out the Steel Rod and and attack small harmless animals (hey he is an Ogre after all)... might take a few of them before it Procs enough to heal you up but so far I've found it faster than simply sitting on my butt waiting for natural regen... Of course at higher levels this won't be a viable option for him but right now he is a very happy Meat Grinder...
This thing procs like every other swing, with ~300 dex. Think Cleric Hammer proc rate.
Even with my Sk's Dex of 92, it proc's about 3 to 5 times per fight! With it and Vampiric Embrace, downtime is becoming a rarity!

This also drops in Qeynos Hills, that's where my ranger got it.
It not only does 40 damage it heals you for 40 points at the same time.
My level 7 Ranger is a killing machine with this thing.

Got this a couple of days ago , with my zerker , and noticed the random heal . Just wondering where this proc comes from , does'nt say it in the description ?

its a necro/SK ish spell... like a lifetap. so the damage you do is added to your HP pool. nice? yes, nice!
hopefully they will not nerf this weap, just too cool...

Well I don't think they will nerf the weapon itself but pretty soon it will stop dropping, since it is part of the 5th anniversary event. Not sure exactly when it's gonna stop but my guess is at the end of the month.
Proc works at level 1 :) Very nice :)

this drops in more zone then just ec also drops in bb,toxx,steam mob range from lvl 15 to high 40s doring the gm events the loot is same in all zones

Got pretty lucky came across commander with my 44 bst and took em down fairly easily only one of em i killed and he had it on em. cool weap. gives me a reason to practice 2hb i guess :)
From the Skeleton Commander in Toxx yesterday. Easy fight for a 52 Beastlord. Great weapon + it looks cool too.

These are really nice drops for the level at which they are attainable. I took my level 40 pally out to fight the skeletons tonight, and soloed the yellow con commander that dropped this.
However, starting at about 80% life, and 40% mana, I pulled out the win with NO mana, 11 hp left, and LoH down. Looted this nice weapon, and scooted over to the zone wall to bind wounds and med up.
Also got the shortbow drop off another commander, that one not my kill.
Very good fun, unfortunately, shortly after that, a group of level 65s set up an AOE killshop and started monopolizing every spawn, so they could twink out their level 7 and 8 alts.
Hoping to pick up the melee mask also, before the whole thing ends.

This doesnt seem that bad for me right now,people always come up before me tho when somebody says its rotting. Im still lookin,i still have like 2 days or so til the anniversary is over
Why 2 days? The everquest 5th anniversary page states the celebrations are lasting a few weeks. Just started on the 16th.

Also, my fiance found a bracer off of one of the skeleton troopers I beleive. It was called a Dwarven Skeleton Shackles. We have yet to be able to find anyone else who has seen it, much less has one. Any info would be great.
